Beauitful song Beauitul reaction from a Beauitful young lady.
David Gilmore (lead singer and lead guitarist in Pink Floyd) said in an interview that he was inspired to write this song to describe the sensations he got while learning to fly an airplane. The video is a way of expressing that. The song and video are both very beautiful, but the video can be distracting. I think you might have gotten more out of watching a live performance of this song.
The young Native American was seen tolling in the fields doing hard labor. Cutting wheat at harvest. An older Native American (possible Shaman) is seen in brief moments in the video, seemingly a spirt guide to the young lad. The hang glider passes over head, having a huge influence of freedom. Soon he is seen on top a small mountain, shedding his jacket & literally arming himself w/a pair of feathers as wings. To be fee from being a quote 'earthbound misfit, I". A big screen & surround sound really brings this vid to life. When it was new, it really was special in its quality & clarity.
The song has two ways to interpret. A positive.. understanding change and moving forward "learning to fly". A negative... not to embracing change and ending yourself out of fear.
This is my favorite Pink Floyd song because it came out while I was in boot camp and having new Pink Floyd waiting for me after boot camp was AWESOME !
The radio chatter you hear in the middle of this song is actually David Gilmore talking with the tower
Now THIS is an official Pink Floyd video.
This is a great song with a lot of feeling behind it.
Live PULSE CONCERT Version of this Song is also worth watching. 🇦🇺
Sorry but, the DELICATE SOUND OF THUNDER is really the greatest version ever.
I saw them on this Tour.........A Momentary Lapse Of Reason album touring cycle.
One of my favorites from that album, along with One Slip and On The Turning Away. I think you'll like both of those, too.
I like this song and you Maddy.
David Gilmour and Nick Mason got their pilots licenses and quite literally learned to fly.....the song is based on that. The pilot/control tower gibberish you hear in the middle of the song is Nick coming in for a landing.
Kudos for not listening to the live version first. This studio version is far superior.
hey Maddy, mythical and fantastic band. I suggest, an old song from the 60s, Tom Jones: “I will never fall in love again” you will be moved 😉
I've watched this three times now, and still haven't heard what song this is. Damn Maddy is dangerously hot!
Learning To Fly
You can always count on David Gilmour for some awesome guitar 🎸 work !
Gilmour had been taking flying lessons when he wrote the song. Actually learning to fly.
Apparently it was a pretty powerful experience for him.
Now....from what i have heard, this song was about david gilmour (guitar) & nick mason's (keyboards) fear of flying, so, in the mid 80's they both beat that fear by going to flight school & getting pilot's liscences, which if u listen, makes sense lyrically...but, my main point is...good lord this is just one of those 80's 90's music videos where there is way too much going on & its all muddied, & it just throws the young reactors...it distracts from the music...as noble an attempt as the video is to communicate whatever it was they were trying to communucate.
Nick Mason, drums Richard Wright keyboards.
"echoes live Gdansk" a must
Some think Learning to Fly is about trying to move on as a group without Roger Walters, this sounds reasonable to me.
My favorite PinkFloyd song is the one i get to listen with you. Cheera from a finn in Sweden.❤
NOW.... VIEW the PULSE CONCERT version. The percussionist is having a joyous "Workout"
Gary Wallis...workout 😉
Nick Mason 🥁🔝🔝🔝
Yep. But PULSE contains modified guitar parts, worse than original. Improvisation is a great thing (like at Montreux 2010 Gary Moore) but sometimes little changes ruin the artwork. Like little changes done by Metallica in Nothing Else Matters.
@@vitalyromas6752 non ho detto controversie...no.
O no ?
Bye
Brings back memories. Thank you beautiful.
Epic Pink
“Sorrow” is my favorite Pink Floyd song 👍👍
Hi Maddy, you have been missed! A reaction from you is the perfect way to start the month of May! Pink Floyd is an endless rabbit hole of outstanding musical excellence. I would recommend anything off the Animals studio album, some of David Gilmours's best solos. There are a few videos online, but the quality isn't that good. Keep smiling, beautiful! ✌️☮️🎸🎶🎼🎵❤️
Animals is a sad album. Very orwellian, when the creator depicted his own future degradation.
Does seem literal with putting feathers on arm then jumping to fly. Maybe he was afraid before the attempt cause of something yet he finally goes for it.
This song is probably older than she is and it's newer stuff.
David was an avid pilot with multiple licenses and classic planes he flew,. The song is about what flying is to him and his love for it. Both he and Nick Mason learned to fly.
His Spirit Guide helped him find his " TRUTH " 🤔. 🦅
Powerful video 😲 .
May I Suggest the entire album Animals by Pink Floyd 👏❤️👏❤️👏..
Enjoy your Adventures in Music 🎶✌️🤠❤️🙏
Oh, wow....ive been on a floyd reaction kick lately...so glad u did this...awesome: D
David Gilmore is a licensed pilot. He loves to fly. The song is nothing more than him describing the sensation of flight.
Thank you for this review. Indeed their songs of 70s are a good staff, although now it is hard to listen any their song involving their former bass player who moved to the evil side supporting ruzzian murderers and spreading disinformation.
My favorite Pink Floyd album - "Division Bell", lyrics, music, tones, band members, everything of that album )
Listen to High Hopes from the pulse concert
Smooth PF jam. I see that his spirit was yearning to fly but he was stuck in the grind chopping wheat. I think they were saying we all inherently know but learning to just do it. Or he turned into a bird, either or that’s cool too😊
Yes, great jam. Having a distinct taste of 80s. "Yet another movie" has got the similar tones, mood.
This is what i grew up with you are missing so much great music
No drones back then. This was shot on high quality film near 40 years ago.
No drones, no CGI, just old good film illusion )
Native American spiritualism
One of my favorites.
Definitely should have watched the pulse concert version Maddy.
✌❤🇬🇧
cool
Nice reaction Maddy ❤
Thank You!!!
that guy needs to sharpen his scythe
Love it!!!
It's not really that new, it came out in 1987, on the "Momentary Lapse of Reason" album.
some Carlos Castaneda here
Filmed in Banff, Canada.
Please check out SORROW live at the PULSE CONCERT.
Nothing to do with the reaction but I have to say you have the nicest skin I have ever seen... OK back to the video now 🤣
OMG what a beautiful lady you are.. Great reviews as a plus.
❤❤❤
👍✌️💜Yo girl where you been💜
Pink Floyd - superlative.
Hello Maddy
Great song by itself, but the directors vision seems to tell a different story to the song, which I find distracting.
Lotsa old music way back just sounds cheesy now, all that 80s sound.
Please consider reacting to WWE
I dunno what he means and im old.
Will someone please buy Maddy a different dress to wear???
Hey now
I will offer to buy her one...but I doubt she'd wear what I pick
@@jaypea468 I was hoping for two bottle caps and a Band-Aid.
