- Honored to be one of the first groups of people to test out the brand new color negative film made by Harman Photo (aka. ILFORD, they are the same company. The name “ILFORD” is licensed to only be used for B&W products. Hence the new color emulsion is announced under Harman Photos).
In the past 3 months, I’ve been secretly testing out the new Phoenix 200 film. I tried shooting these rolls in different cameras and light conditions.
Hoping that these photos would serve as sample images for anyone who might be interested in knowing more about this brand new color emulsion in the consumer film market.

There are so many typos in this video I’m sorry 😭😭 I pulled too many all-nighters trying to get this video out, why am I like this
No big deal at all. 👍
No worries! Thank you for making this vid!
Bc your Human
We still love you! Great video as always🌸
stayed for the food review
I’m surprised how many people found it at the end 😂
The queen has uploaded!
Thank you so much for testing this film for us and for creating this video. We love your images and how you put the film through it's paces.
My pleasure ! Thank you for trusting me to test out this film 🧡 can’t wait for what’s coming next in Harman’s world
To an old timer like me, these images you got from the new film look exactly like the results we used to get from cross-processing. These colours and contrast make me wonder if this new film is actually a positive (slide film) processed in negative chemistry like C-41. Back in the 90s this 'trick' was very popular as we didn't have digital filters. You could also shoot colour negative film but then develop it in E6 chemichals which normally were for slide/positive film.
That’s right, it looks very similar to cross processed slide film.
This film was not made positive, however, ILFORD/Harman used the same machines that they made their black and white films to make this RGB stock from scratch. I believe that they used the same film base as well, that’s why the emulsion looks yellow.
this is the first video i watched on this channel, and i am so in love! the pictures, the filming location, the beautiful narration
thank you, welcome to the channel 🥹🫶
Oooh I love the grittiness to this film stock. I love how bold the colors. Looking forward to trying this ✨
Can't wait to try this film roll! Thank you for your video!
gurly you so talented
Great video Sissi 😊
It bodes well for the future of film photography that film manufacturers/companies are working to bring new film products onto the market.
Nice video, really worth a bit of waiting! It's always so relaxed - and honestly I like the little distractions (the cat and the cake 😉. Keep on your good work.
Thank you for waiting 🥹🙏
Whatever you are eating looks really good.
Such a lovely feel good vibe video! Some interesting results for sure, but definitely still a young film and I'm sure it'll improve over time.
Also I absolutely loved the selfie in the phone at 6:02
Yeah! Great video, looking forward to more.
thanks for the super great video journal!
Thank you for watching! 🙏
Hey! I'm French and I went to NYC this summer, I stayed for a whole month and shot lots of film. I wanted to thank you for your video about the NYC labs, the family at Accurate photo is awesome, I love their work.
So happy that you went to them 🥹
Wow I think you did a great job of harnessing the film's unique look. When I saw that 3D camera I was a bit horrified but the results were awesome!
Cool necklace at 5:00! I didn't realise that this was a colour film from Ilford. That piques my interest a bit more. I like the colours of the red jacket at 6:22 in contrast with the green. It looks very cross processed. Interesting.
I’m so amazed by you! ❤️❤️❤️
Gives a very Tony Scott vibe to the photos. I’m definitely gonna try some for street
Great video! We miss you, Sissi! 🧡
🧡🧡🧡
I can already see people asking you to start a food channel, great video!
Hahaha food and film 🤝
Hahaha food and film 🤝
A friend of mine texted me about this today. Great timing. 🥰 It's such a unique look but seeing it next to Kodak Gold, not sure if it's ready for prime time yet.
perfect hehe
yay
Great vid! Very informative!
you're amazing
Linus 🥹❤️🔥❤️🔥
Thanks for positive vibes 👌🏻👌🏼
Great video Sissi - definitely enjoy this hybrid photography, cake and cat approach !! and more Polaroid when you can too please
Haha so many people stayed till the end for the cake I’m surprised
Haha so many people stayed till the end for the cake I’m surprised
interesting to take sample with different camera specially with 3d cam too, keep it up sis
thank you for watching!
Awesome shots as always Sissi. I'm watching from Wuxi, in Jiangsu, and from what I see on your instagram stories. you're currently in China with your family. I hope you're enjoying your time at home. I ordered a roll of this filmstock 2 days ago to try out on my #filmstocktryouts and your video is super helpful in giving me some pointers on how to shoot it. 非常感谢您
Aww 谢谢观看 🥰
Hey, we meet again! 我的小红书老朋友哈哈
@@tdatsdla Haha. It would seem we’re heavily interested by the same things. What’s your thoughts of this new film stock?
@@darrengodssonfielding seems we do! I haven’t actually shot it yet since I mostly do black and white, but it seems super saturated and contrasty which I love. I might stop by the Shanghai camera store and pick up a roll or two when I have time
Awesome & Thanks :)
Oh boy, a little too cute for me. Phoenix looks like it's got some potential! Next.
I need to try more film beyond Kodak stock. I think I want to try this out when while I’m walking in Manhattan with either my L35AF or F3.
EDIT: I saw the cat and this video is already an instant classic.
13:32 Omg 😍
I am so torn on this film but I think I will get a roll myself and give it a run. Great video and I loved the photos even If they came out super punchy!
tbh it is a bit too punchy for my liking too. but I’m so happy that Ilford/harman is putting their resources and efforts into making brand new color films!
@@SISSI_LU yeah, def can’t complain about new film being released!
I understand the way this is scanned makes a huge difference.
Phoenix looks like the Tri-X of colour neg films... Makes humble Kodak Gold 200 look very refined. I'll give Phoenix a go though. Great that Harmen ( always Ilford to me!) are trying new film stock. It could be a marketing masterstroke to make 'characterful' film these days rather than 'perfect' film?
Haha ikr 😅 but that wasn’t fair, the gold was in 120 and not 35mm.
The metering seemed more accurate with the point and shoot that overexposed by a stop. I think maybe Harman needs to futz with the sensitivity a bit, even though i loved the moody photos from the other cameras!
From Jason’s (grainyday) video, the scientists who created this film stock said that the film’s native iso is at 123.5, but Harman decided to market it at 200 iso.
You should do more food reviews 😆
I think that you need to change a lab or the process of scanning. Other youtuber videos shows that this film brings completely different results especially if you shoot it at iso 100. It is sharp, shadows are not blacked out and colors are much nicer. So I think you need to change something.
well, like I said, these were the early testing rolls. at the time i shot these, there was only one designated lab in the us to develop and scan this film bc it was top secret. I don’t like these scans either.
So, if you would position this film in between other existing film stocks, where would you put it approximately, color-wise?
Not quite a fair comparison, since this film was just made completely from scratch.
But if I have to put it on a scale, I’d place it somewhere between cinestill 400d and kodak proimage 100.
So this is the unstable one he was referring to.
What?
Does the Klasse not have the ability to set the iso manually?
I don’t think so
@@SISSI_LU thanks for sharing!

Watched another reviewer: underexposing at 400 cause the greens to accentuate and makes low contrast more muddy
I think this is a punk film a little bit dirt and hard to control .
It’s a genre, personally loving it.
Keep going under dev peace ✌️
This looks like cross processed E6, very strange.
Your Phoenix shots looks cross-processed. Very gritty in a 90s grunge/fashion way.
Some of these look like cross processed slide film
exactly!!
@@SISSI_LU doh!!!! Just saw Trev say it 😞
YOURE GETTING MARRIED no one has filters? maybe a blue one?
I hated it. horrid colours
