Smelly Washing Machine? How To Clean Filter & Drum Clean

Is your washing machine starting to smell. Does the laundry have a bad smell or odour after it's been washed? In this video I perform an emergency drain, remove the washing machine filter, clean it and then go through the Samsung drum clean program in order to clean the washing machine.

A bit different from your normal solar vids Daniel but just as informative. Now we are all using lower temp cycles to save energy keeping washing machines & dishwashers clean is more important now than ever. I bung some washing machine cleaner in mine & stick it on a hot wash every so often & cleaning the filter always brings a few surprises. The dishwasher tells use when we have to run a clean cycle. I have a Samsung Heat Pump dryer coming in a 10 days so we'll be getting to grips with all that has to offer & running it on overnight 9p/kWhr Octopus Go tariff. Interested to see how much less lecky it uses than our old condenser dryer. I hope quite a bit less which is why we decided to buy it.

I've never had a tumble dryer, always seemed too expensive to run, but gald to see the new heat pump ones coming out. I suppose the cost is now more upfront with those. Be great what your costs will be like. I must admit doing the odd hot wash on the washing machine does also help like you say. All these low temperature washes take their toll.

@@daniel_coe Tumble dryers are one of those appliances that once you've had one you can't really do without. For years we went without a dishwasher. Couldn't be without one now. Theoretically the new HP dryer will consume 194kWh per annum (energy label number) vs 561kWh for our old condenser dryer so, around 65% less over the year. Only really gets used used during the winter months. The only snag with getting a HP dryer is that it cannot go in the garage where the old one was. HP dryers cannot operate if the ambient temp is below 10-12c & not so efficiently if not in a normally heated room temperature. This meant we had to loose an under worktop cupboard in our kitchen to make way for the new dryer. Hey ho.
