We're a Constitutional Republic. Stunning you wouldn't know that.
The Constitution establishes a federal democratic republic form of government. That is, we have an indivisible union of 50 sovereign States. It is a democracy because people govern themselves. It is representative because people choose elected officials by free and secret ballot.

It isn't. Never has been.
The word "democracy" appears nowhere in the Constitution. But a variation of "republic" does. And the Founders were quite familiar with the concept of democracy- and they rejected it for good reason. As Ben Franklin is alleged to have said, "Democracy is two wolves and a sheep voting on what is for dinner."
Founders ALSO allowed only WHITE MEN owning property to vote. Founders ALSO put a clause in the Constitutional Republic's documents called "Amendments", of which eventually allowed ALL citizens to vote..."We the people, in order to form a MORE PERFECT Union..."

By definition, a republic is a representative form of government that is ruled according to a charter, or constitution, and a democracy is a government that is ruled according to the will of the majority. The constitution was developed to help the minority to have a voice that's why we had a revolution

Yes, this country is a Republic, but we vote democratic. What makes this country Republic is that we have the senate and people who represent us in Congress. we have This country electoral college the State has the same number of electors as it does Members in its Congressional delegation: one for each Member in the House of Representatives plus two Senators. Excuse me Mr. Ignorance, but when you were in school and you recited "The Pledge of Allegiance", did you say "and to the democracy for which it stands" or "to the republic for which it stands"? I'm guessing you said "republic". Which is the correct answer by the way. Have you ever heard of a democratically elected republic?
