The link you give to Red WLED + Sound React Controller does not lead to the controller. Do you perhaps have a direct link to it? Thanks.
Which video of yours would you recommend to watch if someone was wanting to build a small light feature for a stage? Completely new to this and my concerns would be correct wiring and power supply.
This would be a cool option for your pillars outside like a barber's style swirl around it. As a rope knot design on a wall too
I have watched a ton of your videos lately and you have inspired me to get started on some of my own projects. Thanks for these videos.
Amazing product, I have never heard of it before. Just ordered some plus the WLED controller too. Looking forward to getting it setup!.
Are there any cut points?
Yes
i would not advice that , tube seems to be somewhat waterproof, for else it is just a seed string in a round tube

Love to see some outdoor projects with this.
You could make a carpet out of that stuff!
I wish he'd have taken it apart so we could know how it achieves the 360 bending feat.
Same concept as a rope light just with less and fairy light wiring and a horrible diffuser
Is there a easy way to convert an existing recessed ceiling light to connect to these rope lights? Or easier to add an outlet in the ceiling with 5v usb port?
Another Gr8 video, thx for making it Chris. One request.... if possible, could you show the WLED settings you choose for each new product before showing the effects? Thx again!
OMG.. Buying Now!! 😊
That Fire preset looks amazing!!
These remind me of the rope lights we use in the theater I work in. I wonder if they could be a good LED replacement for the incandescent ones we have now
is it possible to extend the lights ? I want 10m of this rope light but unfortunately they only sell 5m. So, Was just wondering if there is a way to add.
Brings new meaning to.....ROPE LIGHT!! 😂😂😂
Mount it, in a rectangle or zig zag pattern, behind a tv and attach the controller close to one of the speakers so it reacts to the action on screen!
So instead of using WiFi, because as far as I’m aware these aren’t zigbee. Could you use the rent to connect these in anyway? Love the idea of the microphone!
Thank you and Happy Holidays to you and your family Chris.
WoW I love that Pixel wave effect @4:45 I have a ESP32 chip and some soldering stuff i just have not got round to making anything yet I m going to go back to your WLED guide because it confuses me WLED atm Thanks for Sharing Chris and I hope you have a Great Christmas
🙂 I wish those "Red WLED Controllers" were available in the EU... Love all your reviewed stuff and projects, but unfortunately a lot is not available in the EU, like the Muzata stuff 😞Anyway, love this post, again!
Your videos have been so helpful… thanks! Quick question for you… I bought the 200ft pro set. I was short like 6ft so I bought an extra strand to add but the last few aren’t turning on. Do you think I need a second driver module? If yes, where do you recommend I add it? If no, any other recommendations? Thanks again for any input!
Where do you get the 200ft pro set?
How do you get a 90° change of direction.
Always love your videos! I'm an Electrician & I design/work on Mobile equipment like Oil Field Units and Police & Fire Dept Command Units. Every time i watch one of your videos i get loads of new ideas! so thank you for that lol.
great video... I am going to order the 5m version... any ideas on what watts/current psu it would require?
Is this rope light cuttable
i actually found some woodworking channel designing a hanging light from these where he wrapped the rope lights like a snake around a wood hanging from the ceiling, although his were only warm lights and not rgb. I would like to see you recreate it, but I forgot his channel for reference
I am using the controller you are using and am using the same 5m rope. I would be interested in settings for this specific rope. For some reason I am only getting about 1m to fire up. Patterns work just only at 1m. I am using a 5v power supply and I did update the LED count to 250. Is this a config or power issue? Kinda new to stuff like this and would really like to figure this out.
its a string of fairy or seed pixels in a round tube, if you frequently bend them they will break.
had some experience whit that.
You could cut off the nylon rope and run the LEDs through a frosted acrylic tube that you have bent into a desired shape to create some cool custom lamps
Neon sign I think
Is this rated for outdoor use? Would be pretty cool if it can be used as Christmas lights. But considering its white, it would probably get dirty real quick.
Well if they were black they wouldn't diffuse the light very well...
Put it in a clear silicone tube and seal the ends with clear silicone to keep them clean and water proof from rain and snow.
Just don't know if they will get too hot without ventilation.
I have a question if I want to connect my govee m1 matter to weld but to not cut, there is pin adapter to the sound reactive board you showed ?
I wan't to say cool lights but --- #1 These are 5V which really limit there utility due to voltage drop and the distance the lights can be from the controller -- #2 I'm guessing power injection wouldn't be possible other than at the beginning and end. #3 - How do you cut these without fraying the rope and such. #4 - The LED density doesn't seem all that great. These probably more useful for effects and decoration rather than true lighting. Just my two cents.
Hello, any chance you can do a video on cutting and splicing the Govee outdoor rope lights?
I am not sure it is even possible, but it would be great if it was.
If that meshed rope is used outdoors, it‘ll turn green in a matter of weeks
unforiunally there are not on ali nor on amazon. both links say: Not found....
Can't wait to see you use these! I've been bingeing your videos learning about LEDs... Hardest part has been coming up with a concept. And I had to hacksaw my channels because I guess the miter saw blade I have is the wrong kind
This might be used to make a table lamp out of a globe knot or even a monkey fist. 🤔
Can you connect several of these lights to each other?!
I want to run these outside.
mine has just one connector (i`ve got 1, 2 and 5 meters) and it seems a waterproof tube so no daisy chaining for at least my strings.
with which app i can controll it ?
What version of WLED are you running? I see different effects on your's than I have
i imagine he has version 0.14.0 Hoshi, (there is a new beta out), check on your own wled -> config -> security and updates -> Manual OTA Update - and there is a line that says "download the latest binary" with the latest stable release behind it
I'm really not convinced by how the lighting on this product looks.
To me it feels niche: great for what it’s for, just not an overall best
Plus, these people do NOT explain the whole process, they skip quite a few steps on how to FULLY COMPLETE the WHOLE project. I watched a video on how to take a 16x16 or 32x8 or any size or even more than 1 individual addressable led matrix lights and program esp32 board using wled website. It took me about a year of working on them for a week or so then putting them up for a month or so and then get back to the lights.
Its an interesting look for sure.
@@captainfallsalotatppic2508it took you a year working on them a week or so?
What are you babbling on about?
can more than one rope lighting be connected together?
mine has just one connector (i`ve got 1, 2 and 5 meters) and it seems a waterproof tube so no daisy chaining for at least my strings.
Any alternative for Germany? I can't find it 😢
Wow what a cool product but I don’t know what it could be if attached to a wall it will be a little bit weird a rope
The only problem I have with these lights are the fact that it has a 3 pin input but no output, so they can’t be linked. I bought 1 meter length to see i could use it for Christmas light displays.
Chris,
I have everything for this installed.
Everything was working fine for a bit and I was messing around with the sound react and now only 2' of the rope works out of the 16'
What is up?
5000ma
250 leds
Frustrated
Please help
Hmm, did you by any chance go into segments and play around with that? In segments you could choose to break the strip into different sections and turn off different segments individually. Might be worth checking!
@@ChrisMaherDIYThat's what it was! Thanks so much!!
Can't wait to see your lamp with the rope light
Can you strip the nylon off for us in a short part 2?
there is just a flexible round tube inside the nylon.
If it’s base board why can’t we get inside and outside corners why can’t we get 12ft lengths and or flexible boards and 100ft kits with everything to do room by room
Are these water resistant?
He says IP67
"Honey, something's wrong with the sink sprayer."
Shazam didn’t recognize the music, who is the artist???
Diffuse rope matrix animation video please wled
me likey
I want to add these to my jetski.
What would I need…?
5v usb, dig2go controller, these leds, wled native on your phone and something to waterproof the controller module and power source (could be a power bank if you go for the dig2go controller.
@@Dr44dst44l
Thank you for the reply…!!
Happy Holidays
@@Dr44dst44l
I have a 5v usb receptacle inside of a waterproof compartment on my jetski. That should be perfect for my setup.
I just have to measure for the length of the light to fit around the perimeter of the ski.
I can use them powered by the ski or utilize a power bank to save my ski battery.
@@surfer8210 you still have to waterproof the controller.
And the jetski is moving object, and if you use wled you can make a hotspot and connect your wled controller to that hotspot to control it.
Otherwise for wled there are some wizmote - wiz remote controllers that can be connected to a remote controller with on/Off function and four pre select presets you can use, Quindor made a video about this on his channel.
@@Dr44dst44l
Thanks so much for your thoughtful reply. I can utilize a waterproof box somehow to protect the controller. I ordered the model with the remote for now so I can play with that for a bit and if it’s enough to meet my needs maybe I won’t even need to use the wled controller.
The ski will appear very unique with these, although I’ll order the wled controller also but maybe not have to utilize it on the ski.
Chris, I would love to do a colab on my garage build. Let me know if you are open to it! 👍
are you sure this is the correct amazon link ?, it looks nothing like the one in your video ????, and the alliexpress link does not exist .
Too bad they don't do 12V as well.. 5V is ok for short runs but I need the really long 15-40M runs
It’s okay, not great. Application wise I could see this being used in a nautical themed set up in a room, ropes to sails, or around posts. It’s a bit too direct as a decorative item where most LED lights are used as accents or providing light in hidden areas.
ALL OF YOUR LINK'S DONT WORK
Thanks for watching. I just checked and they are all still working. I'm in the US. Where are you located? All the products are still available on Amazon in the US.
I see signage
It would have been nice if you showed how wled reacts to music. Even your intro music would have been better than a couple of minutes of you pounding your mic.
I agree 100%. Several of your videos are you pounding the mic and saying test test. Put them to music
Looks terrible. So much light lost by the sheath. And in what very specific context could you actually benefit from 360 degree lighting? You didn’t give pixel density or whether they are pct or cob. They appear to be addressable, but in clusters of 1”? They are so dim. Just can’t imagine what they would be good for. Most of the video is about the controller not included.
That's what diffusion does. I put this on my bike wheels and it looks amazing and super bright at night.
Chris love the videos , great job. We are doing a gabion lighted rock wall about 550 feet. We inset clear tubes to feed lights in it . Do you have a recommendation on what lights to use? You can see the walls I uploaded a quick video of some of the lighting czcams.com/video/cGaXgNQ64DQ/video.html
Definitely gonna pass on this one. Thanks for the vid tho Chris. Happy holidays to you and your family bud .
Meh...dim crap.
Think your audio balance is off. Your intro music is FAR louder than your voice.
i think you are off
