Nerf's quality in their blasters has decreased drastically. So drastically that they are almost getting out competed. The reasoning for this is because Nerf blasters took a nerf and now are garbage in comparison to Dart Zone or X shot. It's to a point where I would say "it's dart zone or nothing" because they are more reliable nowadays.

Dark n' edgy boi some maps only have 1 exit, and it did stop some spawn camping instances. A lot of items have been nerfed to be almost useless, stock is best again. Personally, I blame tryhards

@@doctorvontacos4568 the situation would end the same way, if you and a medic are doing whatever and kill a dead ringer spy, and he comes back later and kills you guys and you think that's bullshit, wouldn't the outcome literally have been the same if he just had his normal invisi-watch or cloak and dagger? He'd still end up killing you, just without him faking his death.
Yeah, but with the invis, you can't see him at all. I think it should brew reverted without a speed boost (the cloak thing isn't as bad with the stranger). And it isn't any more unfun than the diamondback (unlike the frontier justice, you can't tell when he has crits) or the kunai.

@@gamerplayer8882 The difference between the Invisiwatch, Cloak and Dagger and Dead Ringer; is two of them are high risk, high reward; and the other is just used as a reset button. That's the way they were designed.
The Invisiwatch is designed for you to play hyper aggressive, as you can often decloak close to the enemy; but since you can't reliably escape if called out or ignited; you've got to play with your teams pushes; or position yourself intelligently; or you'll be called out and killed easily. The reward is being able to take out anyone if you're intelligent; and being almost impossible to catch if you're good; the downside is being easily killed if you get caught.
The Cloak and Dagger is a more laid back version of the Invisiwatch; allowing for a Spy to camp out and bide his time for the moment to strike. It often leads to turtling, and wasting time; which can result in missed stabs and potential; but there is something to be said about coordinating attacks with your team to ensure it gets done right.
And finally; we have the Dead Ringer; somebody see you? Right click and now you can run away and resupply. Move in for the kill; someone call you out? Now you can run away and resupply. This is all the Dead Ringer is designed to do; and all people use it for. It's an emergency retreat button; and regardless of how long you can stay alive with it; if you're constantly leaving the battle to wait for it to recharge; instead of doing your job, you're no different from a Cloak and Dagger Spy.
Also I love the subtle detail at 1:34 where the demoman checks to his left for the other spawn door of turbine before dumping the wheelbarrow of stickies.

Well, in some maps such as, I think it's CTI Turbine? The only exits you have are literally in view of anyone camping one or the other. But yeah, multiple exits often helps on most maps.

Dead ringer feign death is a sort of one trick phony that gives you a short boost and resistance when activated.
C&D is used to be patient and stab in right moments or more likely stalk your enemies, but wiol still take damage.
Stock watch is based to roam around the map more freely making it easy for you get behind enemy territory, but will take damage.
And now the revolvers witch consist with two guns with crits, one to boost your stealth, one to deal reliable damage and...

Nerfing it actually does make sense with "My favorite class is the Spy," if the bazillion observations that a lot of people used it as a brainless "get out of jail free" card are at all accurate.
The Spy is described in developer commentary as a class whose goal is to outsmart his enemies. That suggests Spy players are meant to be alert and using their brains; the Dead Ringer acting as a crutch for inattentive play _would_ run counter to that.
That being said... I can see a crutch of _some_ sort actually being somewhat justified by the fact that the Spy's disguises have been increasingly undermined by metagame knowledge. But it should be a better-balanced one, if that can be managed.
The problem is that design is ultimately flawed and really Spy is just a good newb killer. The Spy currently is the worst class in the game easily. Once people know how he works he's very easily rendered useless or at least significantly neutered. You can't outsmart people who know every trick he has, all they need to do is turn around every so often and be aware of certain parts of the map where the Spy can drop from above or other forms of cover that he can pop out from. The Dead Ringer enabled (and still kinda does) the spy to be far more active and to take far more risks rather then sit and wait for the perfect opportunity, waste time and basically be useless until that time occurred. I mean sure against a team heavily distracted a Spy can wreck, but at that point almost any other choice would also 'wreck'.
I mean look at how Spy is played in higher level highlander. He's used as recon with cloak and dagger to call out people's positions. Useful sure, but not practical in a pub game.

I remember being on Highpass with a(n advance?) Spy contract back when contracts were new, requiring me to get a certain number of backstabs or whatever. I was bad (and still am) as Spy but the (then) Dead Ringer made me more aggressive as a Spy then what I usually am (a Cloak and Dagger guy). I got more backstabs and lived longer at that time than I have ever got as a Spy ever. It was fun, not going to lie.
@@Peachrocks5 I think they should give Spy's disguise mechanic a substantial buff so that the disguises can be more convincing. I agree that the design is flawed and has been basically ruined by the game both being old and widely-discussed, and I think improving the disguises might be the best way to salvage it.

Sandra Buttaci well, he got accuracy on tomislav and ressistance while spun up on Natascha and Brass Beast. He was nerfed too though.
Nursik yeah, but they switched out extra ammo for slow down opponents for Natascha. It can be useful, but it's much easier to just kill them than slow them to stop them from escaping.

Fluffle puff Destroyer of worlds agreed, the dead ringer was waaaay to spammable, although now its very unreliable unless you play gun spy with l'étranger and the big earner. Although the ambassador nerf was unnecessary, it was a good and balanced weapon and rewarded good players with access to long distance harassment and bad players with a downgrade from stock. What they really should have focused on was nerfing the diamondback and making the enforcer actually usable. At this point when I play spy I don't even use any of his unlocks I just play with stock. I used to use the your eternal reward but the nerfed the hell out of that weapon too and now its basically unusable without the l'étranger. Ig they wanted the weapon to be accesible for new players that couldn't get the first stab which isn't even that hard you just need good positioning. Truly sad stock is back to being the only thing remotely viable

I actually really like the changes overall, I just think the damage resistance from the first hit needs to be a little more than 50%. Maybe 75%.

Watching your animations back to back, I just gotta say. I fucking adore how well you draw weapon impact and battle damage. Like in Meet the Jarate how Sniper damaged the other sniper’s shoulder and broke demoman’s grenade launcher to make all his ammo go off, and here how Spy was stabbing up Demoman and also how it looked when Spy blew up It feels really realistic in a way to how things would happen in their world and I love how you take the time to do stuff like that.

I prefer the Cloak and Dagger. There is a special satisfaction in hiding in a secured area, then striking when the enemy team is sure everything is safe. THey totally freak out upon realizing a spy had been hiding in their midst and they had no idea due to the Cloak and Dagger's infinite cloak

Joseph Myron Well, I dont think that it should be IMPOSSIBLE to kill a spy while he's holding the DR. Instead of that, having a speed boost is actually better balanced. But that's just my opinion.
RockyGaming I don't think so either, I just think they went too far with it. If I had it my way, I would trade the afterburn immunity for 20% more damage resist on initial hit. It's more of a middle point between the old and the new DR, is still 20% less than the old DR, and should perhaps put the spy-cicle out of the trashcan.
