I'm a RN who has worked 42 years in acute care and never was a morning person, though I had to work that shift. Five minutes of easy sun salutations helped me get my blood and mind going, followed by a cup of strong coffee during morning report. Now that I'm retired from acute care, I still need to do this routine - which includes making the bed first - or I'm super cranky when my dear husband, who hits the ground running, starts asking questions and mapping out the day! PS: Your skin care advice has helped me keep my skin healthy and it's advice I pass on in the care of my much older clients. :)

I actually go to sleep very easily, it’s staying asleep that’s become a problem. I’ll sleep for approximately 4 hours then I wake up and listen to my husband breathe. And doze off and on until I wake up again. I will try your tips tonight. Thank you!

I use a "wet brush" on dry hair, it is the most amazing brush ever on dry hair, if it comes across a knot it can't detangle, it skips over it rather than pull it apart (and rip your scalp to shreds). Yep, sensitive head here. Totally recommend it!

I love shopping at Target but it is very distracting with all the new products flooding the shelves. 😵💫 Our grocery stores have suffered low stock for a couple of months but seem to finally be restocking. The prices are ridiculous!

Try the Mount Hagen or Cafe Altura instant decaf. They are both outstanding. Expensive but worth it. Everyone I serve it to loves it and asks what it is.
I used to drink the Nescafé decaf until I got a keurig. Now I drink San Francisco Bay French Roast Decaf. It’s outstanding! But if you don’t have a keurig the Nescafé decaf is one of the best. I tried the Mount Hagen and thought it was terrible. Good luck.
Whole Foods' store brand Allegro has some very tasty decaf blends. They also come pre-ground or in whole bean if you prefer to grind them yourself. My fave is the decaf organic espresso Bel Canto. The Whole Foods Blend is also very good. 🙂
Try lifeboost decaf. It's amazing. You can buy online. (it is quite pricey though!)

I use the sleep+ glasses from Blublox, they block out all blue light and have a deep orange tint. Obviously no screen time would be best but it’s not always realistic so I put these on a few hours before I want to fall asleep and they work wonders. I used to have such bad insomnia and lay awake for hours and this was a very practical thing to implement for me and has helped a lot.
I keep that Eucerin lotion in my car and put it on my hands when driving. Love it!

I've tried combination sunscreens, this one included, and regret to report that the "little" bit of white cast was much like the "little" bit of snow in an avalanche lol. But I will definitely check out topical melatonin!
The LED masks work the exact same way as the helmet minus the $1400 price tag. I use a basic model by Newkey. You can use it on your head and it works great

Most everything has gotten more expensive here in CA. Dairy and non-dairy liquids have gotten more pricey, for sure. Haven't been to 'The Targ' for a while, but my local Targ does not always carry full stock, anyways. Good call on skipping those EOS lip balms, in my personal opinion. I got a pernicious case of peri-oral dermatitis from using those balms, in particular.
Doc, you’ve got to also try Peet’s brand Brazil Minas Naturais medium roast soo good. I think Peet’s owns Stumptown, btw.
A question on topical melatonin. Every product I’ve looked at describes using at night, but I’ve recently started using tretinoin at night. Can topical melatonin creams be used as the moisturizer with tretinoin or would it cause irritation or any problematic interactions? This question is for Dr. Dray, but I’m sure she can’t read, much less answer all questions, so if anyone else knows the answer can you please reply? Thanks!
Dr Dray, from one coffee lover to another; Costco just started carrying Lavazza's Espresso blend and OMG... Totally recommend, zero acidity with all the deliciousness and the creaminess of one of the best coffees I've ever had.
In Australia we have serious labour shortages in agriculture, meat processing and logistics due to virtually no backpackers, workers having covid and being isolated and our lack of rail to ship goods and our over reliance on trucking of goods. Different states here have different restrictions at the state borders. It’s pretty dumb.
excited to use the topicals faded but i have the old formulation that people say smells like sulfur. i got it a few months ago as backup when i’m done with my current serum. 😊

I have the one that smells like sulfur. Its definitely there, but not strong enough to be overbearing, for me at least.

I have curly 2c hair and use a SILK scrunci hair tie at night and love it. I wear my hair in a high ponytail and it helps keeps my curls in place.

I've noticed in the NY/NJ area that several Walgreens and Target locations have been low on, or even out of "old standbys" like Cetaphil Healing Ointment or LRP Lipikar AP+ balm. Like they're trying to make way for new. Meanwhile looking through new brands is exhausting.
I do agree that the SK-II FTE can be quite irritating if you use it excessively. However I do not think that the Missha essence is better or even comes close when it comes to performance. The Missha essence uses additional ingredients like Niacinamide and other humectants to boost the hydrating effects of the essence but it doesn't have the same long term effects that SK-II gives. I feel that most people judge the product by its ingredients' list and price point without even giving it a fair chance to prove itself. I do get that it's expensive and as much as I love it, I too find myself reluctant to repurchase it every time I finish a bottle of it ( I've used it on and off for many years). But that said, I must say that I do notice a difference whenever I start using it again after taking a long break from it.
I love the Blue Diamond Banana Almond milk. It’s delicious and iBotta gives you money back ♥️ I can only find it at one store though. I also love the Silk Oat Creamer.

Dr Dray I bought the same iRestore you have! For my husband & I to share. Thank you so much for recommending it! I do have a curiosity about the free gift that came with it: the shampoo, conditioner, and scalp gel. Also the supplement they sent to us. It has saw palmetto in it. I use to take melatonin because I have Menieres and it was recommended by my ENT to help with flares of vertigo

Dr. Dray, home made almond milk is the best one you can have, and soooooo easy to make. I get the huge Coscto bag of Raw almonds and make my own twice a week.

Yes things look like it's the apocalypse when u go into the stores in Myrtle Beach SC like not much food veggies frozen food cleaning products all kind of stuff but yes skincare makeup all that their is a ton of. I get super depressed when I go to the grocery store it gives me anxiety.

There has definitely been a shortage of skincare products but only at the pharmarcy and Body Shop which is where I typically buy skincare products (Vichy normaderm, LRP rendermic r cicaplast lipikar, Mustela, Body shop calming aloe line stuff etc), and unfortunately Nature Republic, which is where I like to buy my serums, closed. Khiels and the highend luxury cosmetics still got plenty of products I have noticed. They sell plenty of body moisturizers at the mall too but they all have fragrance so that is a bummer.
Dr. Dray do you think you can advise on how to wash the face or prep the skin before and after a very sweaty workout. I don’t like to wash my face in the morning, I use just water because of dryness. However, I workout at about 9 am and I put sunscreen only on. After my run I shower and am unsure if I have to double cleanse to then prep my skin for the day again. Any tips??

It’s pretty frustrating down here in south Louisiana. I’ve started checking exp dates on all food bc I’ve literally received expired food in my Walmart grocery pickups on more than one occasion. It’s still bad imo lol
