Beaver Dam Analogs catching on in Idaho

  • We visited two very different streams in Idaho to learn how beaver dam-like structures can help store water, slow down runoff, enhance the riparian area and improve fish and wildlife habitat.
    Bruneau Rancher Chris Black worked together with multiple agencies to have them install BDA's on Hurry Up Creek in the Owyhee Mountains, and Daniel Bertram with the Governor's Office of Species Conservation in Salmon worked together with several landowners and the BLM to install BDA's on Hawley Creek near Leadore in Eastern Idaho.
    Both projects are being expanded this year, and the landowners and project managers are happy with the results.
