    With VVIVID Vinyl you can pretty much wrap anything! You can vinyl wrap something as simple as a phone case to something as complex as a toilet! We know because it's been done and one lucky house has their own custom golden throne.
    This tutorial shows one of our installers wrapping a BMW M3 rim in VVIVID XPO Matte Black vinyl wrap. Tools used were: a heat-gun (or blowdryer), a standard 3M blue squeegee, a utility knife, an all-purpose cleaner, lint-free wrapping gloves, and a towel.
    At VVIVID Vinyl, we've always got you covered! Check out our CZcams Channel for other vinyl wrap tutorials, or our website for more information on our products!

    I think the most important part of what i learned in this video for me is heat from outer part of circle going in towards the center and not to start from center working outward.

    Just remember to deep clean your wheels with something like brake parts cleaner which really eats at any oil and grime. Otherwise the wrap wont stick very well. I deep cleaned and wrapped my wheels about a year and a half ago and theres no signs of wear or peeling yet.

      Just wash with a sponge or the soft side of a car wash mitt. I use the same (Maguires) car wash solution on my wrapped rims, as I do the entire car. No fading or peeling the entire time I had this last wrap on them. (appx 11 months now). I'm doing an entire car, color change at the moment... so I needed a refresher on applying the vinyl. But they still look as good as the day I applied them.
      Do NOT use the rough side (the side that removes bugs/road gunk) or a brush.
      Not sure if it'll scuff matte finished vinyl... but I can guarantee it will on shiny/chrome color vinyl. First time I ever wrapped anything, was my bike rims with chameleon color changing vinyl....I used a plastic bristle tire and rim brush, and all you could see was swirls and scuffs left in the vinyl.
      Edit to add, I only use Vivid vinyls for my vehicle wraps... so I can't attest to other brands and how well they hold up.

People do not know what they are talking about. Been wrapping for years, no videos, but I do know what I’m doing. So please if you do not wrap then do not criticize anyone’s work. My 2 cents! with a only a sharp blade its possible to just cut the vinyl and not scratch underneath. If your blade is dull you can scratch. blades always gotta stay sharp that way you are barely putting any pressure just enough to cut through the vinyl.

  • @nameistunbekannt7896
    @nameistunbekannt7896 Před 7 lety +77

    This is afaik not the way to do it. Start from the middle, as the wheel is not flat, otherwise there is tension. It's okay to stretch vinyl, but after the heat is gone and applies again (by sun-light), the vinyl tries to "go back" to it's original form, ruining everything. So next time, from the middle to the outside, not the other way around.
    Seems like everybody today can be a "vinyler".
    EDIT: also the cutting is terrible.

    • @VViViDVINYLS
      @VViViDVINYLS  Před 7 lety +19

      Well, good thing we are trained professionals. We have thousands of cars in experience. You are right that dissipating stretch from the center is best and that is what's done in the video. The outer rim is actually flat ( video may show the illusion that it bevels in.) we must get the top flat area out of the way first to give us a flat middle to push in. Thanks for the comment.

    • @nameistunbekannt7896
      @nameistunbekannt7896 Před 7 lety +8

      I really don't want to insult someone here. I think most customers don't come back after their vinyl comes off. Every vinyl cover looks great in the beginning. But moisture and heat ruins it. So you see the good result, but after 1-2 months the customers see something else. But you won't see that probably, because you don't visit your customers, logically. Thanks for your answer.

    • @VViViDVINYLS
      @VViViDVINYLS  Před 7 lety +10

      Moisture and heat will do nothing to cast vinyl. Calendered vinyl yes, I agree with you, heat will destroy it. VViViD warrants their material 2 years and expects up to 5-7 years out of the vinyl.

      How much wrap for 20” inch rims??? 20 inches is 20” straight across the flat part of outer wheel. Then theres a groove and then rubber tire. Give the groove an inch and another inch for grabbing to trim off. Imagine the wheel is a 20” square. A piece of wrap thats 23” to 24” x 23” to 24” square will cover the wheel.

    Is it possible to wrap a wheel with a wide lip?

    • @GretchenDupree
      @GretchenDupree Před rokem

      Fantastic question Frank Romero. Maybe i can give you an example of such a thing you have seen before already that required covering the lip of a circle. ‘Apple Pie’. When a pie is made its laid down on top of filling and the edges hang over the pie pan and are tucked under the pie pan. The dough will bulge all around the pies edge because its constantly overlapping onto itself as you go around tucking the pie. The baker uses his finger to make impressions in the dough so it sticks to the pie pan. Leaving the crust looking wavy or up and down all the way around it. How can you make the dough not wavvy and have a flat clean edge around the pie? By cutting miniature slices in the dough on the parts hanging off the pie so that the dough doesnt bulge, but instead lays right under the dough next to it and you start on one part and go all the way around making small slits and then lay dough on, then lay dough on top of that dough and press w your finger to make it look like its all one piece. You dig? The answer is tiny slits have to be cut where the vinyl is going to be trimmed off after its heated and secured onto rim. Another term for that is called cutting the pleat line.
