Just finished reading The Luminous Dead, and I absolutely loved it. I’m a horror fanatic and have been searching for a book that would leave me terrified. This book did it. The claustrophobia, combined with all the other elements of the story made scared to go to sleep. I agree that the ending was a bit disappointing, but otherwise I have no complaints about the story. It reminds me a lot of Darla by Johan Harstad - which I read in 6th grade and it gave me nightmares.

Getting ready to start a book blog and wanted to begin with Sci Fi Horror for October 2022 since my family this year is decorating the yard as a crash site for Halloween! Every year we do a massive theme, make treat bags based on that theme and dress up for the scene! So what better way to get ready for an Alien Crash site than reading Sci-Fi Horror! Excellent Reccomanations I have some on my TBR thank you!!

I finally read The Luminous Dead! I liked it much more than I expected, but I can totally see why it doesn't work for some people. I'm fascinated by caving though, so that was great for me (even though yeah, definitely thought there would be more horror elements). I just picked up a copy of Finna at a library sale, so I'm excited to get around to that too! I think I have the first two books from Premee Mohamed as well, so time to get to those for sure. I REALLY liked Coldbrook when I read it a few years ago. I must have added The Ghost Line to my list of books to buy after one of your older videos lol. I think I need to reread Into the Drowning Deep one of these days. I think the only other sci-fi horror I currently have in my owned TBR pile is Dead Space by Kali Wallace (not sure if it's horror vs more of a thriller though).

Yes! Into the Drowning Deep was a great book and I don't see a lot of people recommending it. I did the prequel after reading this and enjoyed it filling in exactly what happened so I was still scared with the main book. I'll probably be picking up Luminous Dead and Ghost Line. I might have to look into these. People always recommend Blindsight (which also has sci-fi vampires) but it just wasn't my taste. I also recently read Dead Silence and despite being the exact target audience for it (it shameless mashes together the Shining, Event Horizon, and the company from Alien all of which are literally my favorite things ever) it just fell flat for me in the end. I definitely want to read Coldbrook. Its been on TBR for years now so maybe its time to go for it!

Don’t read unless you want info from the ending!**** So in just finished the book and maybe I missed something (sometimes I space out when I listen to audiobooks), but what do you think was meant at the end when Jillian said she was going to be Marguerite/the evil spirit (forgot the name) and Bobby’s baby godmother and that she would “make her an offer she wouldn’t refuse”?

I'm currently reading Gideon the Ninth by Tamsyn Muir. It's a mash up of sci-fi, fantasy and horror. The atmosphere is quite creepy despite how snarky the characters are! It's great and very weird because it's an off-kilter version of all three genres.
