I too was going to mention Swan Song. Another one few these days recall is Gore Vidal's "Kalki" Which isn't the lengthiest of Apocalyptic tales, but it weaves actual history with additional fictional narrative somewhat seamlessly. Another of my favorite series is of course "Left Behind" until towards the end when it get to be a bit to preachy which it had been able to steer clear of for the most part during the saga. One last series and it isn't exactly apocalyptic as per the definition however it is by far the best Dean Koontz series, "Odd Thomas" which the books are a pure joy to read.

Thank you for this list. I decided to read all the books in this presentation. I'm done with Girl with all the gifts now. I'm about to start The stand but I'm kind of afraid 'cause you told that it's a big volume....so I need to prepare my self.
I like Station 11 and Girl with all the gifts. Especially after The road.
Bird box is somethjng else. I have questions abour Gary, why he wasn't exposed to desease.... and I need to know were they any creatures or what was the cause of all this madness. Yeah and from the begining of the book I had this question "how are you going to go out the house with 4 y.o. kids blindfolded....?"🤯 But ofcourse I get it after reading the book little deeper. It's incredable.
And Melanie, oh, that little girl is took my heart. Sweet little thing. It's pitty for sergant Park. I hoped that Helen got pregnant from their one night together and they will have that blond girl of which he thought during his starting desease....and she will be new hungry ofcourse. At the end he was a good man and deserved to leave something of his own on earth.
Well I hope that other books will be fascinating as well.

I agree with pretty much everything you said here with regard to the characters. The beauty of Bird Box is in its ambiguity I think. Seeing things from the perspective of a group of characters that don't know what's going on makes it all so much more scary and disorienting.
I think you'll like The Stand but, you're right, it's a HUGE book!

Good example is the hyper violence of Cormac MCCarthy quite frankly have no real use for it and think he is over-rated but you say so little actual about the story in such vague terms WTF should I read just because it's the Last of Us without the infected which traditionally are really zombie's but the story arc is more compelling I think than The Road.
