    Its mad to think that all these poor people are gone now. You can see the love and relief in their faces. Really hope there is life after death. There must be more to life than this. Hope they all found piece on this side or the next

      That is true. Life to them has become the worst nightmare. Most everyone of them over the age of 20 are long gone by now. You will either know or never know there is something after life.

      Beautifully put @Jonathan Burrows. I'm absolutely sure there is life after death, as there is no way that we are just the result of millions of "accidental" coincidences. Thank God they made it home, and I really hope ALL of those that returned had loved ones/family waiting for them, because there is a horrible loneliness when you return from a long time away from home, and you don't have anyone to greet you, love you, and has missed you.

    The "KG" on the back of that one man was probably the abbreviation of the German, "Kriegsgefangene", literally, "war prisoner" or "prisoner of war".

    Sad to think those men spent the best part of their lives, from 20 to 25, locked behind barbed wire

      Well, 25 and on ain't so bad either! The whole COUNTRY spent 5 years under Nazi rule and lost the same thing. At this point, they had the opportunity to rebuild and recover from the carnage. Clearly, they did so.

    • @araymond1able
      @araymond1able Před 5 lety

      @@sharid76 During WWI and WWII there were 100 million people killed. The lucky ones who got to return home. Way more civilians died under these sieges by madmen. To make a point of humans and what they have done for the past 3400 years there have been about 270 years without wars of some kind. Does not pose good for the future of Mankind.

      It would take me a list over 100 lines long of countries of lost lives. Just one for example is Czechoslovakia (many countries lost more then 10 times this) 345,000 only 25,000 military which leaves more then 90% civilians. Germany just mowed them over and sent to camps to never be seen again. Imagine your city leveled to ashes and Madmen in charge.
