if you mean a "fork" and your asset is in cold storage...then you have that fork. You have it backwards...you are less likely to get hard fork coins if the sit on an exchange, because you are at the whims of if the exchange wants to support it or not.

Love your videos! You say you prefer holding BTC itself, however, Coinbase does not offer the ability to assign a TOD/beneficiary to the wallet to avoid probate upon my death. For this reason I’m inclined to own one of the ETFs in my brokerage account. Any thoughts on this? Is this something you’ve thought about? Cheers!

When you buy a crypto coin or token, you are buying part of the network. The intrinsic value is not physical per se, but arises from the benefits of being able to do things (or benefit from things) associated with said network.

This is the worst thing that could have happened to Bitcoin. They can manipulate the ETFs and control the price of Bitcoin. This is what they do with gold and silver.

How can “they” manipulate an ETF? An ETF follows the price of BTC. And the investors buying the shares of an ETF requires them to make sure they have enough BTC to cover redemptions.

Should only have been approved on the condition that a matching inverse ETF is provided as well. That would allow people to short bitcoin and keep the market healthy. Only allowing buy just encourages bubbles.

So I live in Japan and one benefit here of holding crypto as part of etf is how capital gains are taxed. Currently Japan taxes capital gains at 50%!!! If it’s an ETF though it should be a flat 20%.
