I know this has been said plenty of times before but I truly absolutely LOVE Splitter Girl, it is one of my most favorite Vocaloid songs of all time and definitely became a beloved piece of music for me! Like some things can be inferred (they experienced neglect and I believe physical abuse), but that's about all is known(unless i missed some key information). What the fuck happened to them that drove them to this point?
I think it's vague for the purpose of people being able to relate easier, tho I'm sure it's possible the character herself may have more story. A lot of kids grow up online witnessing the same horrific things, as well as growing up with horridly bad intrusive thoughts that reflect what this story is heavily about. Both are major topics that should be discussed more with how they're ignored and how they affect people. Shootings and murder are bad absolutely but occasionally some of what's in this song can be a part of what lead them to that.. it's a very complicated subject though beyond just that and sort of interesting in some ways
