- Tiffany, Galle, Sevres, Baccarat...all the big names in fine antiques and vintage valuables are here! We're exploring deep into the Plaza del Angel antique center in Mexico City, where the sheer volume of fantastic antique and vintage wares boggle the mind.
Not one piece of Rose Tiente, but an entire shelf of it! Not one real cameo glass piece, but a cabinet full! This video should delight our serious collectors, and give a new look at what amazing things are out there to be found to those of us who haven't gotten to see such finery in one place before.
Friendly shop owners show us lots up close, from French sculpture and opaline glass to guilloche compacts, latticino paperweights and jade. Pietra dura and marble work abounds, chandeliers from Dresden porcelain to French art deco, even a uranium glass Fenton basket are in the mix!
Mexican art makes an appearance too, from Huichol beading and miniatures of the famed El Cabillito horse statue to masterworks by Diego Rivera and Camarena at the Palace of Fine Arts. We watch "sunset" through the panes of a giant Tiffany Glass stage curtain as we marvel at the wonders of Mexico City!

❤Thank you again George! That was certainly a feast for elegant antique lovers’ eyes.
Thank you George and Betty for the wonderful tour of such elegant shops. Truly remarkable.
I was so glad she discovered this place!
It’s wonderful to see what artisans around the world have created throughout the years. It brings home the realization of the time and dedication (as well as the talent!) of these wonderful people.
Yes it is amazing what people have figured out to create over time!
Yes ❤
I am in complete AWE, simply put how amazing this is. I really loved the Bohemian chandelier, they had some really gorgeous things. Thanks for sharing and have a safe trip and day
Thanks for taking us to Mexico there is so much beauty to be seen.
We agree!
Absolutely spectacular. Thank you for taking us along. ❤
I really enjoyed the 2 Mexico City episodes. Such beautiful things that can be found all around the world. Last summer I was in Poland and Romania for 3 weeks. Some of the open markets were almost like mini museums. When I travel I tend to steer towards local artisans and pieces made in the country I'm traveling in. One of my most treasured pieces came off the island of Murano. It's an aquarium glass piece. Weighs about 40 pounds. Had my son build a lighted stand for it so it can be displayed with justice. This piece of art receives the most comments when visitors are at the house.
I agree! I got to go to Poland a few year back and it was amazing what could be found and seen there. What a fun Murano piece to bring home, I do understand wanting to celebrate the items you find from places you go that are specially made and reflect your time there
There are no words. Beautiful isn't enough. Thank you for sharing this amazing trip with us.
Our pleasure!
Sorry I missed the live, but the replay is just fine. Love the console with the lovers. Some of this art just makes me want to happy cry🤗
Such beautiful pieces brought together in these stores. It has been many years since I have been to Mexico City, and it is still as breathtaking as it was.🖤🇨🇦
So much beauty! Thank you for taking us with you to Mexico City!
I'm so glad you enjoyed it!
Oh I loved seeing all these beautiful things! Thank you George.
Yes, in a historical place open to the public, would be better, I think.
Absolutely Amazing glass pieces and sculpture. The antique stores are like museums. Thank you so much for Sharing. Please Stay Safe Happy and Healthy Have A Wonderful Day
Thanks! You too
So many fabulous things in one place!!
Ilove the antique shelves that all your bohemian stuff is sitting on for display 😊
Thank you for taking us along! ❤😊
Thanks for watching!
I would have needed a nap after seeing all the beautiful pieces, I'm sure it was an emotional experience.
We were really surprised by the amount of high quality pieces. It was a lot but so much fun. Like a treasure hunt.
So glad you enjoyed this video. Bendiciones 🇲🇽
It was so much! I loook forward to seeing the upstairs level.
Amazing shop, such a lot of beautiful art and items. I love the beautiful art deco Palace of Fine arts too.❣️
I enjoyed the replay George!😊
Thank you so much for showing us these wonderful treasures. So beautifully cared for and displayed. A true treasure trove. This should a top attraction for visitors…….just amazing.
Agreed! I'll go back
Wow! Just visiting these shops would make the trip to Mexico well worth it!
That rose chandelier had me drooling. Gorgeous antiques!!!❤
All the pieces were a feast for the eyes! Thanks for the personal tour!
You are so welcome!
Thank you George and Betty!! So much eye candy in these shops!
Oh I am glad you enjoyed this video. There really was a lot of quality pieces can't wait for the next time I have an oportunity to visit this antique's plaza. Bendiciones 🇲🇽
Me too!
Incredible!! Thanks for showing us around.
It’s fabulous, the most beautiful pieces I’ve ever seen. The Chandeliers , art and glass. Like step back in time.
I totally agree!
Lots of beautiful things
Love George's videos!
Wowed by so much glorious craftsmanship ! How in the world do those sales people wrap & package those breakables when a customer purchases something ? 😮 It’s amazing to me how those incredible glassware & ceramics have stood the test of war times 🤯 The high end antique shops in London’s WestEnd are like that too, I’ve always been too nervous to venture into one 😅 Good that you got the opportunity George to handle those precious items ! Can you imagine revolutionary riots & looting in that city, the insurances must be sky high in those arcades ! 🙏🏼💞🌟🕊🇬🇧
So many beautiful things! Shipping is a chore for sure. It is amazing in general how any of this old stuff has survived, it makes me realize that thankfully war and pestilence usually are pretty targeted and that most people nowadays in our society don't have to face it.
The hall stand was beautiful and the two wall sconces chandelier awesome all these chandeliers were amazing
I loved the hall stand, and I could really live with some of those chandeliers
Mindblowing!
Good evening, George. The Galle pieces were beautiful. There was an ewer, next to the cloud glass, that really caught my eye. I liked that one. I give up... There is just too much extraordinary things there to try to single out anything. It is just so wonderful to see there are still areas of the world that appreciates quality! That place is more like a museum than an antique shop. It's astounding! The Tiffany stage curtain...beyond belief! That was amasing, George! Thanks for taking us along!
So glad you enjoyed this video and the wonderful pieces in this antique plaza, as you say it had more of a museum vibe. The landscape on the Tiffany curtain is of the México Valley with the Popocatepetl volcan, to see it in person is cute a striking scene.
Bendiciones 🇲🇽
Hello my friend! I am so pleased to have gotten to show this to everyone, thiere were so many things that I used to see in the USA that are no longer found in shops there. I especially was drawn to the cameo glass and the French chandeliers. The Tiffany screen was SO incredible, I hated to fst forward through it but it was a 16 minute time span lol
@@TheAntiqueNomadIt's a shame those kinds of things can't be found here anymore...no accounting for taste, I suppose 😅
Wow, incredible pieces!!
More! More! This is fascinating! I would love to see more of the native or tribal works please!
Thank you! I would too, this place was not so much towards that but I will look for more next time I'm there
Yes! More, more I agree. 😊❤🇲🇽
Wow!
George, thank you so much for sharing your adventure. All I can say is stunning. I want to go there.
You should! I was so pleasantly surprised.
Wow, Wow, Wow George!!
Gracias for sharing this amazing footage with us.
I could spend weeks marveling at everything!
I get so angry I ended up with a disease thar makes it too painful to travel.
Otherwise my hubby and I would definitely go visit the areas you have.
I'm in awe over the blue sets .
I don't think I've seen blue quite like either set.
A▪︎M▪︎A▪︎Z▪︎I▪︎N▪︎G❕️😍
I'm so sorry about that, but I'm sure glad to take you with me anywhere I go! You're in a good spot that everyone would love to be, that's good fortune
Amazing! So happy for you that you were able to go on that trip and experience all of that. Take care.❤
Beautiful

Great video George! Thanks for sharing!
Great video ❤ JoAnn
Thank you!
I think I love cloud glass;ty
Yes! It's so beautiful
I’m dying 😮
By george look whose in Baby Ray its its Lucy in the sky with diamonds 💎
I’m speechless !!! Amazing art, I could get lost in that antique mall. Where do they find all those treasures ? And you’re right about earthquakes . They must have insurance that covers earthquakes?
I hope they do! I have some inventory insurance for my stuff
Beautiful George , thx
Mind completely blown. Such opulence in contrast to the extreme poverty in Mexico.
I know there is real true poverty in Mexico, but I have to say that the cities mostly seem very modern and I don't see the extreme poverty I saw when I went to Mexico as a kid. It may be more hidden, but I also see that the average income has increased a lot in Mexico since the 1990s
So wonderful!!
Amazing love the video.
Just an incredible tour of the Antiques you can find here in Mexico City. Living here full time, when you step into the more street market style of Antique selling, you see the craziest variety of items. Sometimes items you would never expect to find with considerable value, next to someone selling hair ties. Oh the joy of living in Mexico. Great video. I’m happy to have found your channel. Did you have a chance to go to La Lagunilla? Gosh knows someone must have at least mentioned it. Salud desde Ciudad México.
When Hispanic and Spanish people had money they would have their children oil painted in a beautiful frame antique whether gold or silver 😊😊😊😊😊😊
Those were interesting to me! I've seen a few before, it's an interesting custom
WOW !
You were as if a dodicen in a museum, when you took us around the mall ! Though, the more I saw the less enjoyable it felt. I visited the Hurst Castle, in CA. The magnitude of the eliteist consumption exemplified by furnishing and European goods came of no surprise because he was an Industrialist- Robber Barron.
I do understand that a few people have a lot, but I felt glad that at least these things were still accessible and I could show them to you. In the USA, these kinds of things mostly went into collections years ago and we have no access
I hear you. And I do enjoy them too. Exquisite pieces. The Mexican art, in the museum, got me reflecting
I appreciate your responses
@@janetpogue4970 I appreciate yours as well! It is food for thought. There's starting to be such extremes of wealth and poverty in the US that I may just not be noticing it when I travel elsewhere like I used to notice
Magnifico..look but dont touch kind of places
Oh, I'm brave, I touched a few that I felt I was serious about but I do know what you're saying
That is saying amouth full because you’ve been all over in lots of antique stores
True that!
It would be nice to educate us on and point out actual Mexican antiques and their provenance.
I would like to have done more of that, but that particular venue did not have a lot of truly Mexican items
There is wonderful Mexican Art to show you, we just did not have time in this trip to show you unfortionetly. The museum of popular Art comes to mind. Hopefully next time we can show you that.
Bendiciones 😊🇲🇽
@@bettyr8608 that is true! I only showed the masterworks but there was a great exhibition of Mexican photographic art where I was in the thumbnail. There are many great things to show in Mexico and I hope we’ll get to some of the places known for ceramics, silver and textiles
How could you leave
😅 Jajaja yes it's very hard to leave México City but there is much more to see so until next time 😊
Exactly! I feel I must go back to be able to experience more of it
Makes IKEA look pretty bad.
Beware of the ‘gringo tax.'
I was glad to go with a Mexican national, it helped!
That wealthiest 1% has access to all things monetary, the mall merchandise for instance. While funds for the under served Youth suffer without mental HealthCare, endure homelessness, violent schools . . .. Shame on them for hoarding $$ that could help to provide for many needs. As known, some of the wealthiest don't pay any taxes to support public education, public medical care etc.
Museums are the logical location for such valuable pieces of art and history. Something is inexplicably wrong with humanity ...😔
This continues to impact so many families and yes, mine too 😔
The fact that our government spends 70% of its budget on military might be part of why there's not much left for other needs
You are right George, You are not kidding!!
Fund "star Wars " with a bake sale
Thank u for your level headed response.
