  • Is the struggle of boys and men a partisan issue? And how have recent economic and social changes influenced the classroom, the workplace, and the family? Brookings Institution scholar Richard V. Reeves joins us to tackle the complex crisis of boyhood and manhood. Plus, we look at the US's renewable power industry and discuss Malaysia's death penalty change.

Hi. I just subscribed. This is such an important topic! I was looking at the number of mass shootings we've had, almost ALL young male shooters! We have a serious problem! 😟👋🏽👨🏽‍⚕️

its very true about black women, most are just so tired. Every black woman i know has had to take responsibility for sons, husbands, boyfriends, uncles etc it never stops and it starts at a very early age. I stay very quiet when it comes to feminist discussions about bringing down the patriarchy, I may be living in a patriarchy but in the microcosm of the black community, it doesn't feel like it. We're all very VERY tired.

Jesus. She could hardly get herself to say the words: "Men are struggling" at the end there.
What has happened in the last 20 years that made men and women have such disdain for each other ? I don't understand it. It wasn't like this in the 90s.
It must be social media that did it. It's the only explanation.

Hi Max - Any disdain may come from the fact that you can enthusiastically pitch a conversational topic to the podcast you co-host, enthusiastically read the book about it, enthusiastically interview the guest, and then still someone random on the Internet will read you as having disdain for the issue. Truly, I'm not sure what you're interpreting as disdain. - Emma

Also the comment about disdain wasn't directed at you. It was more about a general feeling.

@@maxpayne232 No worries. Personally, I think the general vibe is probably affected by social media but overall has more to do with rapidly changing social norms. - Emma
