Nice upgrade!I have the Mark I/original APC40 and just now breaking it out for Ableton use. I like the placement of the filter knobs above each channel, rather than all knobs grouped and placed to the right. Still, going to get the benefits out of it, regardless of version :)

I play guitar, sax and clarinet but I think I will get this cause it looks like a lot of fun
You can use this machine to play your guitar and the clarinet while you have sax.........in the background
with guitar/sax I would prefer a normal sequencer with keyboards

I have just put together a few mixes using this in Ableton, alot more fun than using decks. Only tricky part is the sliders can easily put you in the red.
you could remap the sliders to make them stop at 0b

Found this video randomly while looking for Akai Fire videos, really love the way you go through the controller.
Any change you would do the same with the Akai Fire?
I seen Liam Howlett of The Prodigy uses 2 of these for a lot of his live gigs too! :)
Fantastic review and demo. Is there any way to manually midi-map the stepped tempo encoder to something else (for use with Reaper or other non-Ableton DAWs)? Or can you only user-assign the top 8 encoders? Thanks, Doc!

Have you ever had any problems crashing in a live performance using Ableton with the APC 40 in this way? I am thinking about getting the MPC live because I have a fear of a live performance crash.

I’m not an Ableton user, but that machine looks gorgeous, and has all the stuff ya need right in front of you, No menu diving, thank you. Wonder if now that Logic Pro has the new “Live-ish” feature, maybe Akai or a third party will make a Logic template for APC40, eh?

Really curious to know where you acquired all those nice loops, are they coming from digital libraries such as splice or loopmasters, or did you sample them yourself or a mix of all this ? just starting to understand ableton and i was thinking to buy the Akai APC40...
I do not know of course, but I would assume since he's a musician who can play, that he made the loops himself?
you may want to consider getting to know more about your master. As a live DJ you might be concerned at the clipping of your master. Why don't you leave it at unity gain and put abletons limiter on there? seems like a simple way to avoid huge potential problems. Great video tho

1:40 how did to get that blue square? I have a Midi Gtar Controller it has the same chip light as this Akai, but i'm not able to do this so m guitar doesnìt light
one question. if i want to add for example at this point (2:50 just to say) a small sample i cut from a song. can i drive it into one of the sliders? and does it automatically set it in sync? or do i have to properly perfectly cut it when i sample it? sorry if this sounds stupid to ask.

I use logic as well and thinking about getting this after I watched how to map the apc 20 to Logic , this guy shows step by step how to map it to logic. Hope that helps. 🙏🏽

Is there a way to cue up & listen to a sample or section before having it come through the main sound system...
Much like a DJ would cue up a listen to the next track they’re going to play before adding it into the mix for everyone to hear
