Jimmy, You need to do something I figured out when playing in VR... Lean over to the window. It actually even simulates the condensation from your breath and fogs up
Thats nuts lmao
If you have your VR controllers on you can even draw with your finger in the condensation!
@@NateLupson No way, that's awesome. I tried wiping it away with my forehead (which basically meant slamming my face into the wall beside my rig) but not that lmao
@@Blast_HardCheese Classic gamer move
@@ChaosPootato Only true Gamers understand the facial pain 😎
there actually is a proper racing line when in the wet, you just have to enable it :)
This comment should be top and pinned :)
isnt this only for the AI?
how to enable it?
@@patryko3269 cm > csp > rainfx > rain race line
@@TheSlowestStart thx
RainFX is insane. The wipers clear the rain away in a convincing way, the rain fulls back in progressively and not just in a single sheet like some games and just how it all moves around or gets sprayed off the wipers. It is amazing what the modding community has done. I have done so many drives along the PCH, LA Canyons, SRP with rain on just because of how cool it looks.
Srp with the rain is so rad
its crazy to think that jimmers hasnt done this yet.
i had less than 10 hours in this game before i got this mod running.
Is it just graphics effects though?
@@Spinelli__ assetto corsa modding goes deep. yes, its a graphics mod.
that works with physics mods. the more it rains, the quicker the track gets wet, the sooner puddles develop.
all of which changes how the cars will handle and drive.
and on certain larger maps, it will be raining on one part of the map and not the other.
would be nice to see that rain and how heavy its raining, which effects the track conditions in real time.
@@beatles42ohgg94 Yes but how does the drying occur? Is the drying line based on what part of the track the car's tyres are driving over? Do different tyres dry the track differently depending on how much water is displaced by that particular type of tyre? Do puddles vary in depth? Are the puddles and the depth dependent on 3D physical track surface geometry? Etc. etc.
So glad to see the Assetto Corsa content! Such an amazing sim, and like a fine wine, seems to continue to improve with age. AC2 is going to have a VERY high bar to reach given how much has been added onto AC by the mod community.
I hope for AC2 they basically just incorporate all the graphics mods and then spend 90% of their budget fixing the AI.
@@goodlookinouthomie1757 truth AI is SOOOO bad on AC youll be 2 wide on a long straight and they will lunge right into you 😂
@@redosoland9063 Imagine what a perfect game AC would be if they fixed it. Ironically the best AI I've found is iRacing, which is supposed to be a multiplayer only game.
@@goodlookinouthomie1757 Totally. Really good AI, some physics system updates, and a few little things (clutch that actually works properly is a big one for me) and most importantly, mod tools. Don't even worry about stock content. Just give the community a platform to mod.
@@goodlookinouthomie1757 > just incorporate all the graphics mods
Pay the mod devs, and create a package that 'just works' = you have my money.
My favorite little detail of rainfx is that if you're in vr you can put your face up to the windows to fog them up and use your controllers to draw in the fog with your fingers
About the track and puddle thing, some tracks (like Spa) have configs which make the puddles in better spots and actually make wet lines happen
Got a steering wheel and pedals to pair with my VR a few weeks ago and I have to say, the SRP mod alongside the rain effects just makes me feel so comfortable and relaxed. Driving around late at night with the pitter patter of the rain and the wipers, as well as the hum of the engine just takes me back to late night road trips with my dad where I used to fall asleep on the motorway on the way home. I can and have spent hours just aimlessly driving in the rain, just content.
Some modded cars also have “Android Auto” in them so you can control the Spotify app on your PC from in your car. Nice to blast some music on LA Canyons.
@@PixelisedPaul does the music just sound like normal or does it simulate the acoustics of the car?
jimmy, you really need to activate "real mirrors" in the content manager -> settings -> custom shader patch -> smart mirror. they are a game changer for VR immersion!
theres a couple of things i think he missed, like i dont feel like he had the experimental extended physics ticked either, makes driving in the rain far better.
@@jinx20001 are all of these settings in the paid version of CSP?
@@legacyproductionsrr4188Only the rain is locked behind the paid version
@@legacyproductionsrr4188 I do have the paid version so can’t be sure if they are in the free version, rain is definitely paid for, so are visual mods like pure, sol is free but again limited without paying the patreon (which you should all do by the way, well worth it, pay 1 buck then cancel subscription).
I’m not sure about the experimental extended physics, they might be part of the paid version, maybe you could tell us, it’s found at the bottom left of the screen in CM when choosing car and track to drive.
@@jinx20001 Sorry, I'm slowly losing the overview. Did I understand you correctly: become a Patreon member, pay any amount, cancel again directly and and you can keep the rain forever in AC?
This community for Assetto Corsa is soo damn good, every time it delivers something else to the table 👏
Jimmy you can also change the mirrors to be more realistic. The side mirrors will show the sides of the car, and the rear view will actually show your interior
When I was younger I remember downloading and playing MUGEN, a 2D VS fighting platform where you could import and play with any character from any fighting game in any stage (almost only ripped off characters from other games). I absolutely loved it and thought "imagine this with a racing game.."
And here I am, 20 years later, playing Asserto Corsa where you can basically do that. Effin awesome.
Jimmy and AC just feels like home.
It does.
I love it when Jimmy genuinely enjoys making a video, it’s heart warming and great!
That's part of his success imo, he's a genuine guy who has fun and doesn't take everything too seriously.
Sim racing can feel like a job sometimes, some people act like real championships are on the line. Not our Jimmer though!
You can switch the mirrors to render based on your head movement and also show the car model for a bit more immersion
Assetto Corsa with the rain at night time in VR is one of the best gaming experiences I had ! It was a pain in the ass to set up but damn it was so worth it !
Rebel Tree will remember this day. He was out in the rain, alone. And you drove right past him. Not even a henlo :(
i love watching VR in vids - natural head movement feels more immersive to me
Great to see AC in VR getting some love on Jimmer's channel but a bit of a shame he hasn't had time to set it all up properly so it looks a bit naff.
It's best with the latest Sol and Pure mods from Peter Boese. Also having the rain at 100% is insane as 30% represents a really wet day.
The best thing about the preview version of mods is that they are getting updated resonablly often the rain model has been updated a few times in the last few months
You say its harder to watch but i think your vr content is some of your best and most fun to watch, so much more interesting!
I know, videos already recorded and all that, but another really nice addition, especially with vr, is real mirrors. It changes the mirrors to actually show what they should show from the perspective of the mirror, especially the rear view because in normal assetto corsa in vr it just looks like a rear facing camera being displayed in the mirror instead of being able to see your interior and everything. Super immersive and you can actually see your head moving (and they even give you the option of disabling the head in case it gets in your way).
you need to use the "smart mirrors" in shaders patch to make the mirrors reflect the car properly - makes a huge difference to immersion in VR
I drove the Nordschleife in weather like this back in 2017 in a megane RS. It was wild. You expected it to be like glass but it was like polished glass with oil on it 😂
So, nothing about installing the mods, nothing about configuring the mods, nothing about the mods themselves really, just nearly 15 minutes of watching you drive around a wet track, eh? Good stuff man. Good stuff.
I have long since awaited a new VR AC video from Jimmer and I Excite
Assetto Corsa ages like fine wine. I hope Kunos takes notes on what makes this game so special.
Kunos takes notes on what they were paid to make the game vs the insane salary the modder makes by locking rain behind a patreon paywall. Disgusting
@@escalator9734 the guy did, what the devs themselves said couldnt be done. without him, there would be no content manager - pretty much the canon way how we play the game nowadays (nearly ten years later). I understand where youre coming from, but i think a change of perspective would be healthy.
@@escalator9734 People getting some compensation for thousands of hours of coding in an easy-to-use mod is "disgusting"?
@@Freezorgium "some compensation" isn't 20k growing to 40k per month for the last 2 years, do you think kunos devs got that much for coding the actual game ? locking rain that has been in "preview" for 2 years behind a paywall (doesn't matter how much it is) is honest and legitimate ?
what's disgusting isn't the hours of coding and the great additions that made a good game great, it's the fact that one guy is making an indecent amount of money on the back of the people who did 85% of the work, and they get pretty much nothing
@@escalator9734 You can literally pay $1 for it man, if a creator wants to be compensated for hours upon hours of work for his intellectual property, who cares? this is the way the world works. You want something, you pay for it.
And if $1 is too much for you maybe get a new hobby as tech is expensive, ill throw that dollar in the trash for you right now. its literally a dollar.
This mod looks cool, should try it out, thx. Reminds me the Driveclub, the weather effects in that game were ahead of their time.
I've had Assetto Corsa & Competizione for a few weeks now and love it. New to sim racing too.
Have you tried Assetto Corsa Evoluzione yet? It's a full Career mode a la Gran Turismo with a progression system, dozens of events, dailies, car collection, etc. Incredibly fun and with the GT7 HUD mod, basically brings a modern Gran Turismo to PC.
the glass get foggy from the inside too when i watching 3:25 thats pretty cool, i only play Forza 4 and 5 in onboard camera during the rain and it didnt give that kind of detail on the windshield. Mod community of AC sure know how to mod this game
I like to drive all the f1 tracks before I watch the races, makes watching the race so much more enjoyable.
Had to check outside to make sure it wasn't raining. Menn what a good rain sound
I actually loved your VR videos especially like automobilista 2 it’s so cool to get a “helmet cam” video
I believe the latest version of csp paid has a setting to increase or decrease the difficulty of driving in rain, the water patches can really f ya up
just did this, and It nearly made me cry, made me have that excitement for gaming I havnt had in years
One of the scariest car experiences in my life was going around the Nordschleife in conditions almost this bad as a passenger in my friend's 140i. Even with all the driver aids turned on, we were sideways everywhere. They closed the track about an hour after we did our lap and were in the restaurant waiting for the shakes to wear off!
the wet physics will probably be improved later on, this is all still the preview version.
Love your videos! I have a potato PC so I play GTR2 with Mods, and people still make mods for it which surprises me, but more mods for me I guess. Driving in the 100% rain in GTR2 is insane and I would say is realistic and GTR2 can look just as good as Assetto Corsa with mods, I encourage any one reading this to pick up the base game and then mod it.
Hi Jimmy, I'm the author of formula DS, now I'm working on a rental kart + indoor track mod, from well, months. It's getting greatly accurate (I've driven the real thing over the real track for the last 2 years lol) and i wonder if would like to try it out 😁
The track looks great in the night, thanks to shaders patch
Showed these Mods to some programming guys and they were speechless.
Best rain implementation in any game and it's "just a mod"
VR content is amazing please keep it going
Bought AC during a Steam Summer sale for 5$ CDN.
The amount of content for that price is just incredible.
looks incredible Jimbot
By the way, you can use your controllers to adjust the rearview and side mirrors with your hands, and you can also put your face near the window, which builds up condensation and you can then draw on the window with your fingers
The water streaks on the side window are absolutely rad, small details matter.
I can relate to the post-crash simulated VR vom, thanks Jimmer. Now time to hit the diced carrots.
Because of this VR sim, I'm permanently back on your channel Jimmy.
Glad you're on it again
It's wonderful! This game might worth a try if I wanna try track racing! (Developer note: The raindrop particles can have a travel distance between zero and movement speed related X, and if they have a nice refraction/ specular shader they actually cause caustics and reflect stuff, and the particles can have a collider that collides with the wiper) Well done modders!
I did not expect Killer Instinct music in a Jimmy Broadbent video, but I am pleasantly surprised.
I love watching VR vids as the screen aint as sterile its way more realistic looking when watching imo
Love you Jimmer, hope your mental is doing better. You seem really exhausted whenever you stream on YT/Twitch. Take good care of yourself brother!
my sweet summer jimmer, you are about 3 years late to the party but we're glad you're here to share it with us anyway
Everything about the game is awesome. I raced in so many multiclass championships and 24hr races that I don't feel the need to switch over. The community is totally awesome.
If you move near the windows they fog up. You can also take your in-game hands off the wheel using VR controllers and draw in the condensation!
JIMMY, the Killer Instinct ONE ost in the bg?! I love you.
MORE VR pls!
driving the C8 Z06 mod around the LA Canyons is a good time.
looks amazing!
The only thing that stands out is the sound. When you drive through a puddle you only get sound from one earbud. But you should hear it with both your ears
I really enjoyed the Gran Turismo mod that you played with Porsche 917 on Deep Forest. This one is really nice also.
The wrx is from gran turismo sport /7 since some one ported it file from gran turismo sport
The question the real Jimmy Broadbent fanboys want to know is: does the rebel tree stay dry in that mod?
For those, who wondering which mod this is.
This is Imrezza made by GMP. It's has no brakes and very understeery physics. (Go for 22B made by DDM if you want a better Impreza mod). But for the rain it fits perfectly.
Link?
It's from gran turismo sport
Need to get back into this game
This driving experience reminds me of my old mod back in years ^^ DIRT3 Realistic Driving Mod V2.0
i loved this, please make more vr content
that is pretty heckin gosh darn nice lookin'!! holy heck! I wish I could VR, but I'm pretty sure that's gonna be a hard no for the rest of my life from here on out. I really wish we could get more HUD options in gt7 instead of a mode I'm never going to use, because I'm selfish! lmao but it would be nice to be able to move things around on screen, and drive in car view AND have it be useful by being able to see the rear view mirror, plus the information always covering it, if we even get a mirror in view in the first place that is.
Finally built a gaming PC, Assetto Corsa with mods has just been....amazing to say the least.
If you have the spare money, get a VR headset (just a used WMR headset will do fine), it's great to drive in VR
@@Ink_25 Thanks, definitly a plan down the line but after going a bit overboard on specs ill prob hold off with single screen for a bit! The times ive tried VR racing is just...soo natural
Personally I love your VR vids the best ❤
Man I love racing in the rain. I hope it’s good for training instinct. Even if it’s still a game, asecor and gran turismo helped me with driving reactions in real life
Well i didn't expect that ending !
"Mom, I want a PS5 with PSVR2!!"
"But we have all that at home!"
All that at home:
You can get close to the window to make condensation then draw on the windows if you use hand tracking
Hey Jimmy, I think most streamers will run a or join a private server and login with 2 separate steam accounts. Your POV on your main pc and then the 3rd person on the other pc... granted thats a lot more components and stuff to deal with. Either way I love watching the VR stuff!
in VR: Nordshleife at night in the rain with full 24hr grid is mental. Scariest i've ever done but its so beautiful.
This is where Kyloton got their inspiration for their rain effects for WRC Generations.
This game will never die...thank god. It's epic!
Also...bring up the weather planner. You can adjust amount of rain, time of day and the difficulty of the rain driving. You can setup the weather for the day and it will run thru that setup...speed up time and run a whole days weather setup in an hour or whatever.
I recently got rain fx and was wondering if you ever used it so I guess the timing was just perfect
VR is always an experience 😂👌
Modders, not only in AC, but in general - are so insane. They put so much effort and detail into what they do, and improve on the base game tenfold. I mean, just imagine Skyrim without mods. It would be a footnote.
I finally have a PC that can kinda run this, around 45 fps, and it is absolutely insane driver in the rain in vr, bonus points driving at night, makes it even crazier
The old F1 Jordan car is fun as hell on the gring in the rain.
The rain feels so good
the rainfx has been so good lately. once they dial in the physics i think it's gonna be an experience that won't be matched for a good while. puddle location and wet line i think will depend on a custom config in the end so im sure we'll start seeing config releases on race department when the method gets nailed down. also i was getting annoyed by the wiper noise so i figured out how to get rid of it if anyone is interested
welp. It happened. A racing game finally surpassed Driveclub in the graphics department. Insane detail, and immeasurable props to the modders for making something this awesome.
If you want the full Gran Turismo VR experience, try the Assetto Corsa Evoluzione mod. Adds a full career mode all available in VR just like Gran Turismo.
x4fab is the man for keeping Ac alive.
Good for you for letting go of the steering wheel on the last few seconds of the lap. It could have decapitated your hands. Yes, AC with mods is fun. Thanks for posting this.
Jimmy, you can also use PURE weather mod which includes 8k 2D clouds which are soo much better and realistic.
yeah the rain fx is a must have for this game. it looks amazing if your pc can handle it
I'm running a i5-9400f with rtx 2600 itx & it runs pretty well; well worth paying extra for the csp previews & pure
Thats some Driveclub rain right there, noice
wow!
think i need to go on a mod download frenzy!
Take a drink every time he says “in real life” 😂
Nords in the wet and the correct car can become a rally stage this video is evidence of that, looks fun and makes me want a PC even more
Hey Jimmy, love ya content. I'm a PS5 player I get so frustrated sometimes seeing games like Asseto Corser and ACC thriving with mods on PC but console users get left out. Would love to see some mods getting adapted for console by the Devs. I'd even be happy to pay for them as DLC, is sad cause I much prefer to play AC and ACC but continually find myself returning to GT7 because there is just more people to drive with. Even getting some kind of Ranked daily races like LFM offers on PC would be awsome. I tried the competition race once on ACC and ended up doing a 1 hour race at Brands Hatch alone 🤣.
I think there is a racing line dynamic, you just have to enable it in the settings
Is it physics based? If so, what is simulated and what isn't?
Now we wait for Jimmy to take his Subie to Nurburgring irl
LMAO he was so zoned out with the water that he forgot he was on the tourist layout of the track 😂 Mod looks amazing
What’s the difference between the tourist version and the other versions?
@@rossgibson4237 tourist has a road block on the main straight, in line with the pits. you have to go in the pits to get out for another lap. its a simulation of the real nordscleife track day
@@rossgibson4237 major difference is the barrier on the straight, minor difference is that the lap time starts from the bridge at the top of the hill at the end of the straight and stops at the gantry at the start if the straight. Usually called "bridge to gantry"
@@rossgibson4237 the tourist version has the road barriers that he crashed into at the end, and to start another lap you have to go through a toll checkpoint thingy. The track in the racing version doesn't have those barriers, and you can keep on driving without interruptions.
As my grandad always said about driving in the rain, Low Gear, High Revs. He died in a car crash unfortunately….
So much fun 🤩 preordered PSVR2 and orders an aluminum rig. Getting a DD wheel setup and will be ready to get immersed in this crazy hobby 😁
I'm not sure that pevr2 will work on pc
AC on consoles is awful compared to PC. Creators said PSVR2 is not likely to ever work on PC. Would have to use GT7. still cool. Or go with another PC VR headset. Being in the US and cost being an issue, waiting for Quest 3
@@Okolokole Sorry, I meant for using with Gran Turismo 7 on my PS5. I don’t think it’ll come to PC either. Jimmy just talked about the GT7 PSVR2 combo in the beginning of the video.
But AC on PC looks like a lot of fun 👌🏽
This is the best windshield rain effect i saw since Driveclub. And its a f*cking mod.
There are tracks that have drying lines with variable grip levels.
