  • In this video I restore the old wore out suspension on this very rusty 1959 Chevy El Camino, to like new condition. I go to Trad Rod and Customs and Oliver gives me a hand pressing in the new bushings.

Such a sense of accomplishment and satisfaction to rework the car to where it will ride and feel like it did when it came out of the showroom. You are doing a magnificent job, sir.

Nice work on the front suspension restoration. The parts look almost new. Look forward to seeing the front end come back together. Be safe and stay well.

Taking the car apart is the hard part, along with cleaning. Painting and the assembly of all parts is the satisfying part. Also, it was great to see Oliver again! His build is rockin'! Have you ever used the c-clamp press that is used for pressing in ball joints? I've used mine on a bunch of things on a Jeep! Bet you can guess where I purchased it! Just like your bench top grinder and wire wheel! You are really making progress now! Keep smiling brother, see you on your next pass through!🪛🔧🧰🛠️⚙️😁😉🇺🇸

Most guys don't think of this. But when you heat up rubber, it gets soft.So if you boil water, literally, boil it, take your bushing before you go to squeeze it in and stick it in for 5 minutes. In boiling water it will make the process of getting into the slot so much easier.
There are $5 attachments that you just latch onto the top of a rattle. Can that serves as a spraying nozzle! Rustolium makes some they're pretty easy to use and they save your fingertips!
They make a spray cans so much easier to use.And I'll tell you what. There are one of the greatest inventions that anybody could have ever thought of.
    Your dust caps....
If they are just beat up....
    Use a screwdriver handle.
Lay it on a thick rag and use the handle as a body Hamer to reconnect the metal.
I refurbished the ones on two 74 Chargers. They came out nice.
    Old isn't always so bad.
Ladders work great as paint stands along with bailing wire.
    Bolts and screws.....
Best to paint by piercing through cardboard!
Slide them through and slightly fasten them together. Yu will find that there aren't light spots that will need repainting, and you won't get gloppy spots, because when you hold onto the cardboard as you spray, you can spray the whole bolt, nut and screw or wash at the same time rather than one side and then having to flip or turn them over to paint the other side.
As well as hanging parts off the ladder.
When you hang them, the Sam applies for painting both sides at the same time and junk won't fly up into the paint from your table top.
Laying it flat you have to wait for that side to dry in order to flip it to paint the other side.
It basically leads to less time on that part of the project.
You know how much fun watching paint dry is😉
    Just a few suggestions.
I have tried all ways, and why I see a way to save time, I will throw it out there.
    Nice work my brother!❤

After you have everything back on the car ( engine, trans, fenders, hood bumper etc.) bounce the suspension up and down tighten the bolts for the bushings to spec. Use red locktight on the bolts or the bolts will work loose over a short period of time. Lock washers will do nothing. Blue locktight wont work either. Have fun
