They mastered what Family Guy never caught on with. They learned a lot from the Simpsons, but their characters became so despicable, that they left that human quality the Simpsons left in. The emotion and relation.
@NoOne-kr4jc family guy never wanted to emulate that style, it's a different cartoon. I never understand the comparison between them, they are two different things, like South Park and American Dad
It’s not that Lisa was getting dumber by the minute, it’s just that she got so preoccupied and frustrated with the brain teaser that she suffered a burnout and couldn’t think straight during her usual routine, thus having a bad day as Marge suggested.
I think Lisa is overthinking the brain teaser because she too smart, unlike Bart, Nelson, and Milhouse. Martin was overthinking too saying "this is a hard one." But unlike Lisa, he more flexible with his thinking, and got it for thinking this is not as hard as I first thought, and got by think 12345 6 is the solution.
I think Lisa took that long to solve the puzzle, not in spite of her genius, but because of it. Lisa's brain was filled with so many complicated problem-solving strategies, they distracted her from the simplest solution. In turn, her obsession with the puzzle distracted her from the school project. In Ralph Wiggum's case, counting to 6 is probably the limit of his mental capacity. So of course he got it right away. Martin Prince is another genius, yet he also saw the solution extremely quickly. Maybe Martin is more flexible than Lisa in terms of the varying complexity of solutions. Martin did start off by saying, "That's a tough one." He might have silently thought, "unless it isn't," before he announced, "got it!"

One of the few good episodes to come from the not-so-good seasons. Animation looks beautiful though, before it became all stiff and soulless in Season 13.
Yeah, Season 8 was the last great season, Season 9 was the last good season, Season 10 was a big decline, an ok season, by Season 11, the show was officially dead.
"She's just upset because I told her her brain's turning to mush. You know, on account of the Simpson gene." "Simpson gene? That's just foolishness." "No! Baldness, too."
She may have dodged the "Simpson gene" but apparently the "nagging narcissistic know-it-all bitch gene" is active in both of her X chromosomes and the related symptoms have gotten worse by each new season I am right?
Doc Von Doom Sadly the members of the Simpson family were not the only ones affected, even side characters (like Apu, Flanders, Moe, Barney,etc...) suffered the same fate.
Everyone keeps mentioning Herb, but is everyone also forgetting that Abe was a WWII veteran/ I believe general. Don’t know about you, but that doesn’t sound unsuccessful to me even if things started to go down hill for him after the war ended
Does make sense actually. She says its the affected gene on the Y chromosome. Means only men are affected passing it onto their sons and also that simpson women don't pass it on to their children at all. In other words Lisa's descendents won't be affected because she doesn't inherit the affected Y chromosome (women have XX chromosome and men have XY)

+Franticalmagic No, she is hated because of how arrogant she is. Plus that she can be really intolerant to any different points of view. It was kind of cute (if a bit annoying) in early seasons, but was infuriating in later ones.
+Franticalmagic She is both arrogant and intolerant. She thinks she is always right, she thinks everyone should become a vegetarian to the point of ruining Homer's barbecue over it, she's a feminist to the extreme, and is critical of religion despite being a Buddhist. I believe the only "kid" here is you.
Franticalmagic no I just don't like how they started writing her as intolerant and mean spirited she looks down on her family and others around her it only started to happen later in the series
DixieNormous The way she thought that it was too ''unintelligent'' for her to say anything less than splended, even though the reality just stroke her. There's nothing wrong in making mistakes and feeling bad about them, because hey, we're all human. But to think so highly of yourself? Pfft... that's just right pretentious, and ironically ridiculous and stupid. Belive me, it had nothing to do with solving the puzzle, but just her arrogance.
Wait a minute Homer's half brother Herb was a very smart guy who founded his own car company. Why isn't he at this reunion? And Grandpa even though he was still a crank when Homer was a kid wasn't dumb at all. Before getting all senile due to old age he was a pretty reasonable and fairly intelligent person. And since when was Bart ever a good student? In the episode when Lisa got her sax he was barely able to recite the alphabet and was a disappointment to his teacher.
Meme Machine Lisa thinks that she is becoming stupid, and learns that Simpson's start out intelligent, but slowly become dumber as mature. She resigns herself to her fate, until she discovers that it is only the male side of her family that becomes stupid, and all of her female relatives are brilliant.
