Hello darkness my old friend...
I read this comment in Steve Dangles voice
@@BrattyNerdGirl Me too. Go Leafs!
Simon and Garfunkel could start on defence for Leafs..
I've come to talk with you again....... And again. And again. And again. I'm hoping the Leafs see the light this year, but the B's look really strong.
@@BrattyNerdGirl Haha Terrifying :p
Last year's Chokers vs Historical Chokers
Choker cup "🤔🏒
Yeap. Odds are pretty good either team is existing in Rd 2 anyway. Sigh.
The perfect description of it 😂
Well, in fairness, Boston has choking down to a science. look at their history in the league, and you’ll see the definition of choking and underachieving
Boston are historical chokers to. In the words of UrinatineTree, "choke after choke after choke after choke and it keeps f***ing HAPPENING!"
Pray for Steve Dangle, he might have to go through 7 games of this again.
I think giving them false hope again with getting to 2nd round and then just falling apart would be the worst outcome. They are expecting a loss right now already.
Someone explain to me why the Leafs can win 3 games but not the 4th game? If the Leafs are good enough to win 3 games over Boston what makes the 4th game impossible to win? Did Boston intentionally lose 3 games to Toronto then just so they can embarrass and humiliate them by coming back from 3-0 down to win in 7 games? Boston is playing possum by intentionally losing 3 games and by giving Leafs players and fans false hope.
If I was Boston, knowing the Leafs always loses game 7, this means Boston can and should intentionally lose games 1, 2 and 3 before coming back and winning games 4, 5, 6 and 7.
Boston can and should go down 0-3 and winning the series in 7 games since the Leafs can't win game 7.
@@arthurau9231 "Someone explain to me why the Leafs can win 3 games but not the 4th game?"
Same reason why Matthews can score 69 goals but not 70.
As a leafs fan, the amount of respect I’ve seen from different fan bases over the last 2 seasons have grown like crazy. Particularly bruins and lightning fans. Nice to feel apart of the big boy club. Good luck to the Bruins and their fans. Go leafs go
Lotta respect in the comment section
I'm from Pasta's hometown so he's my only chance to see the Cup here but good luck to the Leafs! Let's hope for some memorable battles!
In the last game of the 12-13 season, the Ottawa Senators had an upset victory against Boston in TD Garden to set up a surprising first round matchup between Boston and Toronto.
The more things change, the more they stay the same.
Boston the 4 seed and Toronto the 5 seed again
If history can repeat itself with a 60+ win team choking away a series such as last years bruins, it’s possible that the Senators winning against the bruins results in another leafs loss. But still, I won’t count out the leafs.
Big Bruins fan here. Nothing shocks me today. Both teams have the talent to move to round 2. I'm not letting "history" get in the way of logic. Go Bruins!
Oh man, bruins goin to crush the leafs into a pulp.
I cannot believe that we've arrived at another Leafs Bruins playoff series and the Leafs STILL haven't fixed their goaltending
One thing to note with Toronto yes the pp is good on the year but since March 1st it’s clicking at below 10% so it’s really struggling.
hoping it just magically fixed itself from game 82 to 83 lol
I think Treliving did a good job adding grit while not selling out future picks, I am cautiously optimistic for a first round win.
I'm a Bruins fan but this should be an interesting series that either team could win. If either team can't play up to their strengths it will probably be costly. Very curious to see who the heroes will be, probably someone that will make an unexpected impact. It feels like Boston has more depth on defense and in the bottom six forwards. Toronto has elite playmaking and scoring talent that they can either concentrate or spread around. I do hope injuries don't impact the outcome but as everyone knows, injuries are inevitable. I also pray for good officiating, as this has been a torment for every team all year so far.
Well said.
Good officiating? haha never going to happen.
Outside of Mathews, Boston has better, basically everything. Marner is useless against solid defensive teams, Willy decides when he wants to play and when he doesn't, JT is just aging, can't be helped, going to need Domi and Bert to step up.
@@people3865 Marner is over a point per game against most of the league. He has 34 points in 24 games against boston. What are you on about?
@@drew651 He can't win puck battles, is constantly a minus player, and last year all of those points came in 3 games.
Is points all anyone looks at with Marner? I REALLY don't understand the love affair with him tbh. He's an overrated, overpaid, sub 100pt player, who's defensive metrics are horrible this year.
Heard that the Game One official will be Wes McCauley 🤣🤣
Boston refs are 🗑️
@@josephhowell8158there is no such thing as a Boston ref. Does Marchand have dirt on every ref? Probably
@@Thisisbailie LoL 🤣
Oh no… FOR REAL?
@@user-dq4ik4kc2c , yup.
I wouldn't say I'm a Leafs fan, per se, but I started watching them when Martin Jones got called up and became invested in this soap opera. I gotta see this.
I would love to see Toronto finally pull this one off, but I really don't expect it
they have a lot more grit compared to boston this year
I was thinking the same thing after re watching the 2019 highlights. I'm going Leafs in 6@@GG-ng6zm
Good work, thank you for what you do!
the hockey gods realized that after so many playoff failures, I was slowly losing my capacity to care, so they willed a playoff series against Boston, to maximize the pain
As an Habs fan. I will be watching this closely.
I want Toronto to win in 4 but a part of me would love to see Boston beating them again in a game 7 just to see them cry.
Honestly no matter what happen this match-up is a win win for us Habs fans!
And nobody will be watching the Habs lol
@@ragnarthered6459 Well Duh, they arent in the playoffs lol
@@ragnarthered6459 Well done we knew that
Habs fan here too, I for one would prefer to see the dragon slain in symbolic fashion; the Leafs go to game 7 and actually win a game 7 for once. In overtime just to see some heartrate monitors reach the roof 😂
@@ragnarthered6459 what? How did you figure that one out?
I am so looking forward to this series
Boston wiped the floor with them in the regular season so it'll go to 7 games
Goalies will be the difference here, Boston in 6 or less.
the bots are running wild 45 seconds after the post lol
They are deleted and blocked every time. I find the comments about the bots more annoying than the bots at this point.
@@TheHockeyGuy Own that fraud!
@@TheHockeyGuydamn, didn’t have to do him like that😂
@TheHockeyGuy sorry I didn't mean to be annoying or anything I didn't realize it was a common thing. Have a good day anyways
@@Koersky ran that bum outta here! Absolute ownage!
Based on how up and down Toronto has played this season, especially at the end trying to help Matthew's reach 70, I would lean on the more consistent Bruins to win
Either the Leafs are going to exercise some demons, or this will be the Core 4's breaking point. Either way this series will go to 7.
Someone explain to me why the Leafs can win 3 games but not the 4th game? If the Leafs are good enough to win 3 games over Boston what makes the 4th game impossible to win? As always..... nice work!
Boston in 5 or 7
This will be a barn burner! (I hope) Panthers vs Lightning is another great matchup Im looking forward too.
NHL scheduling isnt feeling that. hey look no one cares about FL or Tampa so lets put them at 1230 on a sunday! that will help prove our point. FL doesnt need hockey!
I agree 100% this series and the Florida series is gonna be absolutely insane. I'm sitting here on pins and needles waiting for the game 1's to start 🤣
@@Polycodone and once again the NBA pulls BS, Panthers 1230 Heat 1 PM. They are always trying to divide the market.
People giving the Leafs no chance solely because “The Leafs are chokers” forgot Boston pulled off the biggest choke in NHL history last year.
so it's a Choke-off?
As a Lightning fan I laugh 😂 biggest choke!?
Didn't know last year's Bruins were the '19 TB lightning...(or the 21 leafs)
@Usiris23 yes, Bruins was worse than tne lightning in terms of choke jobs. Sure it wasn't a sweep but the point difference was way larger.
@@hassam363 man idk, we got swept by the fuckin blue jackets, which never won a playoff series before that! Was a tough bite to eat
As a Bruins fan, I think this is probably Toronto's best chance to beat Boston. On paper, they have the better team and Boston played better than most people expected. Before the season, few people would have predicted that Boston would finish ahead of Toronto, and I think the Leafs might even be a slight favorite. Anyway, I'm hoping for a good streak and good luck to Leafs fans.
good series ofc.
Nah, the defense and goaltending will carry boston, leafs need to hope that the bruins will be collapsing again.
Also bruins have something to make good again after last year so they will be playing actually with some fire, while many leafs fans already saying that this series is over, and thats in the leafs players head aswell. It will not create a good atmosphere for the leafs tbh
"The Toronto Maple Leafs are 35-19-2 without Auston Matthews all-time."
Does that include playoff games he didn’t show up for?
What is the point?
A Leafs Stanley Cup will mean so much more going through Boston
Someone explain to me why the Leafs can win 3 games but not the 4th game? If the Leafs are good enough to win 3 games over Boston what makes the 4th game impossible to win? Your goaltending and defense better improve greatly.
The Maple Leafs have absolutely 0% chance of winning the cup this year.
@@mattgauthier7216 Clown comment. Then why even play the games then moron? Leafs should disrespect the Bruins by refusing to play any games at all and automatically forfeit the series to the Bruins. After all why should the Leafs play the games if they are going to lose anyways?
@@arthurau9231dude hop off the conspiracy sauce and just watch the damn series as it comes. leafs fans are insufferable almost purely for this whining. have a little pride would you?
That time of the year when I check in with The Hockey Guy.
Cannot wait for this one. Definitely going 7. Good luck Leaf fans. Lets go B's!!!!
i love how he stays neural and provides pure stats. good stuff man
Ditto on all the best to both teams. Whoever wins, I'm hoping for a second Original Six matchup, in the Conference Finals.
The 'hump' is Keefe 😂
My team is out of the playoffs again, and I am thousands of miles away, but this is the series I am drawn to mostly because of the Core4 dazzling 82 and quick playoff exit is hilarious.
Sooner or later the odds have to be in Toronto's favor. This can't go on forever.
Really feels like Toronto will live and die by how good their goaltending is
ahhh no shit thats hockey and every team
This is the series the league will have their eyes on. Lot of pressure for both sides.
Regardless of who wins, this will be an entertaining series we all win there
as a leafs fan i’m just gonna accept beforehand that we’re losing so it doesn’t hurt if we do lol
Boston in 6
It's worked for me as a Canucks fan in the past, and I've got the same philosophy for this year 😂
Boston in 5. Our track record recently has been abysmal against Boston. Not sure how we can randomly just flip the switch and beat them 4 times in 2 weeks
@@CodaRedThey won’t. Boston will feed Toronto their lunch and we all know it. Samsonov isn’t a number one goalie, our defence is not great, Marner disappears when things get tough. I’m gonna go into this series expecting a sweep so I won’t be surprised if it happens.
I love how you ‘re picking all the favourites to win the series hoping to see you pick an underdog in your next few previews
This will be a fun series.
Good ol' Fred was the 7th player award receipt ant too !
Go Leafs go! Hopefully a fun series either way
They gonna shrivel up and blow away... a classic leaf move
The Fab 4. And a PP clicking along at 10 per cent. Equals early exit.
LETS GO BRUINS
The disparity between the 1 goal games and the 2 goal games could certainly lead one to think that Boston does a great job of hitting an empty net, where as the inverse could be true for Leafs when trailing by a goal; they give up empty netters. Would be nice to see stats on those possibilities.
Kind of the Core 4s breaking point if they can't get this done. Major shake ups will happen if the Leafs can't get past Boston. Keefe and Shanahan are probably gone and I'm almost 100% sure Marner will be out the door considering the Leafs looked insanely better without him in the lineup when he was injured
Bruins in 5 sounds about right
It's good to see Leaf fans are taking the news well.
Could be a tale of power plays
Love to see this be a physical 7 game series.
Someone explain to me why the Leafs can win 3 games but not the 4th game? If the Leafs are good enough to win 3 games over Boston what makes the 4th game impossible to win? @arthurau9231 I have no prediction here. My comment was suggesting and hoping it is physical and whomever emerges is a bit worn. I dare say my Panthers will be waiting, but we have to get past Tampa first, which has been our nemesis. So again, there are no predictions for either series as ANYTHING can happen in the playoffs.
I was at the dec 2 game
Domi got his first goal of the season
This is exactly what Toronto needs.
I dont think the Leafs have the mojo to do this, so same ol all these years later
Can't wait the puck drop, even if this year 1st round would have all the most interesting matchups
Oh shiat, here we go again
Boston in 6. Toronto doesn’t have the goaltending or defence to outclass Boston’s lack of offence.
In the season series, Boston scored 14 goals, Toronto 7. Boston had a .949 sv%, Toronto an .89-something.
If Toronto can slay their dragon, they might go all the way like Washington.
And if Edmonton slays there that being Vegas they could go all the way as well. A Edmonton , Toronto final would be insane
@ryans413 and if that happens canada burns probably
@@ryans413and Canada will still say bettman rigged it against them
Not with that AHL defense
LOL. I wouldn't hold your breath. They're more likely to slay their giant and give fans hope, only to disappoint by losing somehow in spectacular fashion.
Genuinely think Toronto finally does it this year
I have no dog in the fight i just think this will be the best series
As a Habs fan, I’m excited that one of these teams will win as many series’ as Montreal this year.
The Bs have better goal tending, and D: McAvoy, LIndholm, Shatty, and Big Carlo. I feel bad for the Leafs. They just signed all the Big Guns this year.
Well, last year Toronto wanted Florida instead of Boston and they got their wish, which didn't age well. This year we got the opposite of their wish last year so we'll see what the alternative looks like.
Lets be honest, everyone last year would had prefer florida over boston, no one did expected such a playoff fun by florida
To be fair, they also chanted we want Boston last year (despite not getting them) and that has a chance to backfire, even though not 100%. Also note that Miami heat fans chanted “We want Boston” just recently.
For boston that three plus goal thing I'd say a lot of that might be they have a two goal lead near the end, team pulls a goalie, they nail empty net. So like....grain of salt to that, boston doesn't run the score on teams as much as toronto has at times.
I’m not a leaf’s fan at all I’m pulling for Boston. I just don’t think the Leafs are going to be an easy out as people think.
Is it possible for both to lose?
Defence and goaltending give the series to Boston.
that's matt murray's music! mawww gawwwwwd
Yes, Seattle dumped an entire line of overachievers and... could that really have been it?
My pick is BOS > TOR with goaltending the big factor.
Cool Rivals
I can't do it again, Shannon. I just can't!
Barely any injury updates here at all. Nothing regarding today’s games. So….Jesper Fast (Carolina) won’t go tonight. Not concussion related….minor injury sustained vs Columbus. Pageau still an unknown while Noah Dobson will go tonight for Islanders.
This series, as always, must go all the way to Game 7. And just to make it really interesting, let's have Game 7 go to 5OT.
Like a ton of LLLF's (life long leaf fans) THINK they can beat the Bruins, HOPE they can beat the Bruins but based on recent experience could never bring their rational selves to bet real money on that eventuality. We'll be leaving the outcome of the series to the Hockey Gods.
This feels like Groundhog Day at this point.
I'm gonna do my best Lou Brown from Major League and pick the Leafs.
I know they haven't had much luck with the Bruins, but i gotta hunch they're due.
Yeh I hope Bertuzzi, Matthews and Domi play together on the first line tonight. Like they say 'If it ain't broke, then don't fix it'.
Gentleman’s Sweep
Toronto needs way better goaltending and defense than what they have shown all year if they want to make it far. Or just hope teams decide to not play offense against them.
Only thing that would have made the East's bracket better is the battle of NY.
Florida vs Tampa, Boston vs Toronto 🤌
The fact the Leafs always lose in game 7 doesn't mean they choke, it means they don't have the required stamina or durability to go on a long playoff run which is the the fault of the coaching staff and the strength and conditioning coaches for not preparing their players properly enough to go on a prolonged playoff run.
A little worried but at the end of the day....Go Bruins!!!!
Which Leaf gets suspended? Why and for how long? This is the real question.
I’m not sure what would be better. Watching the leafs go out in 4 to Boston or 4 to Florida in the second round.
Don’t you just love it when history repeats itself?
Leafs were getting swept regardless of whether they face to Boston or Florida.
The .444 for Boston in 1 goal games is certainly affected by all the OT losses. Too many for my liking. The team plays best 5 on 5, so if OT's come they may be better suited in playoff OT situations. Should be a fun series. Guessing lots of TVs will be smashed, so where do I buy some stock in Samsung, Sony, or LG....hahaha
Toronto in 6 you want to know why they have the defence this year and great offensive
I,m not a Toronto-fan, but I expect them to win easily in 5.
Someone check on Steve dangle
As a Canuck fan I'll chear against boston anytime.
However this year as all 3 previous final rivals are in the playoffs I would like to chear that one of those 3 makes the finals each for different reasons.
I have no delusions that the canucks will easily make the finals I just think it would be fun to have an 82/94/11 Rematch for the finals this year
I am pulling for my Leafs, but I am aware of their past performance.
5 years ago with not close to the same rosters
And, if Toronto must go to Game 7 in Boston and have ANY chance of prevailing in that game, I suggest they have at least a 3-goal lead midway through the third period. No way they'll lose if that happens.......right?
“Maybe this is the year….” every one of us leafs fans for the last little bit.
GLG!! 💙💙💙
Good news is....
Leafs physically dominated them in the last meeting. Bruins have also not played Samsonov since he bounced back. Bruins have also not seem the Leafs new lines.
I'm rooting for Toronto but if I were to bet on the series I would say Boston in 6. I'm hoping very much I'm wrong though.
I click, I see bruins jersey, I instantly start laughing.
