    omg, I'm so happy I found your page. I'm 20 and a criminal justice major with pre-law in mind since high school. The more I am in college the more I realize I am not a good test taker, this made me open to the idea of paralegal bc ik I love learning about the legal system, have a good work ethic, passionate, etc but the thought of all the test to be a lawyer make me anxious lol. Plus I don't want to just be getting adjusted in my career at 28-30 which most likely will push back my ability to start a family! I definitely think this could be a good career path for me too.

      Omg same! I don’t why tests seem so intimidating. I completely understand your reasoning behind second-guessing law school. It isn’t for everyone (but it’s good that you’re thinking of this now!). I will say that if you do decide to go for it in the future, make sure it’s what you want and that you’ll be able to give it your 110% effort.
      Are you finished with your pre-requisites? If so, what’s your fav Crim class this far?! So glad you found this video helpful ☺️

      It really depends on where you want to work and the attorney like some want a 4 year and a certificate or just a 4 year others don’t care what kind of degree you have as long as you have one some prefer to train on the job a secondary way attorneys do is promote experienced legal secretaries as far as cirtification by nala goes that’s completely voluntary but it will help notes: education is important but experience is key it’s a good idea to become a legal assistant legal secretary or file clerk before or while studying to become a paralegal an internship is a good way as well

    Great content.
    Asking for a friend:
    1) Does paralegal certification from an ABA accredited institution (as against non-ABA accredited schools schools) make a/any difference as to whether you get a chance at being employed at a fairly reputable firm/company/agency?
    2) Do foreign law degree/foreign qualified lawyers with US paralegal certification stand any chance (at all) venturing into this field?

      I would love to know the awnser to the first question as well! I currently attend a 4 year university, but I'm thinking of switching careers. I saw that a local community college has a paralegal studies degree, with it being a 3 year program (2 years paralegal studies then 1 year for the certification). I do wonder though if getting my degree and certification from a community college may affect my job prospects...

    So you have a minor/major and paralegal degree that’s the path I’m currently on now just not the same order I’m going to a Community College in my state to earn my paralegal degree then plan to attend a 4 year university for for my bachelors in political science and minor in social science my goal is to become a lawyer as well. So when you do a major and minor do you need less credits for the minor like is easy to obtain both? How many credits is needed for a minor?

    • @CrystalHurt
      @CrystalHurt  Před 9 dny

      Hi! I think that’s a great path to be on! Just curious, what made you want to go to paralegal school first? I haven’t heard of anyone doing that before! And yes, to receive my minor I believe it was an extra 6-8 courses if I’m not mistaken. Because I wanted to finish faster I also opted to study abroad for a summer which I was able to take 3 of my minor classes within a few months so that was helpful! Wishing you the best of luck!
