- Gameplay video of Tetrisphere for Nintendo 64 (N64). This video shows the "Rescue" mode, the last level of the first episode (1-10) and the first level of the second episode (2-1).
In this game, you line up matching Tetris-style pieces from a sphere, which clears them away. Clear enough of the sphere away to release your robot friends from the core of the sphere.
Trivia: Tetrisphere was originally developed as an Atari Jaguar game called Phear. Before it was released however, Nintendo approached the Canadian developer H2O and made them an offer to scrap the Jaguar version and instead make the game exclusively for the N64 system. Nintendo also added the Tetris name to the title: Tetris + Phear = Tetrisphere.

I played this as a kid and I had no idea what the hell I was doing. XD
my Mom said I was a smart kid when I was younger and played puzzle games on a regular basis and this was the game I progressed the most on the n64 no wonder the sounds sound like music to my ears 😄

The graphics seemed extremely good when I was a kid. This is hardly recognizable even though I loved this game. Though I played it for hours I also have absolutely no Idea what is going on.... this was one of my favorite games! WTF

This game was so omniscient and strange when i was a little kid, i had no clue wtf was going on, didn’t even know it was a tetris puzzle game thing. I just would click buttons on certain parts of this crazy object and parts of it would go away, then this crazy looking face would be staring at me😂

Used to play this at toys r us in '97 when n64 was new. At first had no clue wtf, but then I started to understand it and it was awesome.
I still have no idea what this game is about lol and I recently bought it sealed just to have it since it was part of my childhood lol
This is seriously the most underrated version of Tetris.
This was one of the most intense N64 puzzle games. Great music. Inventive idea on transforming what Tetris was.
I remember playing this game when N64 consoles were available to play at McDonald's. It was always this game and Star Wars Episode 1: Racer.

Honestly I have been trying like hell to remember wtf this game was called because I played it as a kid and wanted to find it again. Finally after some ridiculous Google searches I finally found it!!!

It's a 3-D sphere and when you make matches, you're getting closer to the center of the sphere. Think of it like a popcorn ball. Each match you make is like taking a bite and getting closer to the center. :P
Game is so simple and fun. Confusing at first, but doesn't take much to realize you zoom in until you die, and you need to combine as many of the same shape side by side as possible to get bigger score points.
God I miss this game.
Best part about this game is the 2-player split screen. I remember the days when me and my pals used to huddle up next to the N64 and play VS mode for days !
Oh, the rivalries that ensued were chaotic. One of the most competitive 2-player games i have ever played :).
I also enjoyed the puzzle mode a lot.

U can play this on a N64 emulator called project64, and have a ton of fun on your PC.

Yeah, it does look confusing at first. But after a few minutes of playing it, you get the hang of it and it's pretty fun.

The Jaguar was quite a bit more powerful than SNES, but not as powerful as N64. So I'm sure this looks much nicer than the Jag version would have looked.
Plays more like Tetris Attack than traditional Tetris, but still dope.

Semi you say? I bite my fingers watching this, like... no...!!! not this block, the other...no!!! don't launch now!!! He misses so many good combos it's painful to watch. Not complaining though, always fun to be immersed in this great game, and the difficulty levels were well designed.

JouninAkisa: Yes, it is timed. If you don't make a match in time (or if you make a mistake), you lose a life (the three hearts). Lose all three and you fail the level.

I remeber as kid me and my parents play this a lot and you all so coud play in multiplayer and my mam was really good at this game.. so good she was holding for time the world record in making points. Playing against her was just the horro, because she completle bombt us with that black blocks and destroy use we really hate playing against her😂😂

Man, the N64, PS1, and GameCube were where gaming was at it's peak. I mean the stuff nowadays is good, but it's just not what we had before. I'd give ANYTHING to have my original Donkey Kong 64, Rayman 2, Goemon's Great Adventure, etc. etc., all back again. Emulation just doesn't cut it =( , I like the actual consoles 'cause you couldn't cheat and there were no graphic glitches. *Sigh*, I miss those days.

A mi manecio el tetris del Game Boy en el 25 de diciembre pero antes de eso mis papis me rentaron el videojuego del doctor Mario de NES y yo no ganaba después en el año 2000 en adelante tuve Internet en mi computadora Windows XP y de ahi entré al nintendo8.com y en esa página web me puse a jugar al doctor Mario de NES y supe como pasar las misiones del doctor Mario y ese videojuegos del doctor Mario es casi parecido al de tetris que el doctor Mario aparece en el lado derecho para tirar pastillas a los bichos que están adentro de una botella y se tienen que vaciar a todas las pastillas en la botella para pasar a otras misiones.

there was a game in 1995 from nintendo that people didn't really know how to play it. I think it was called Sphere. does anyone else know the real name of it. It failed to sell and it was the first biggest game fail in Nintendo back then.

It does. Once you play it yourself you quickly get the hang of it. I played this so much when I was like 14. It's 100% a forgotten gem.
It was a fun game but he doesn’t know how to play it he needs to get to the center asap or at least that’s what I thought you needed to do 😊
I usually tried to go for high score. That means getting the multiplyer to the max and doing combos using the glowing power pieces. Also puzzle mode was awesome
