I remember going to this game when I was a freshman or sophomore in high school with my grandpa and some other family. We are Duck fans and our seats were right next to the Oklahoma band. It was a great game and both teams played well.

I remember reading that Keith Jackson wasn't happy about doing this game. I believe this was the first season that ESPN and ABC merged their college football broadcast teams together, leading to ESPN on ABC for the 2006 season.
I think Al Michaels wanted to avoid the downgrade of calling events on cable as well (at the time, he's doing Amazon now). He got out of that MNF job the next season that it would start on ESPN.
Keith Jackson was getting old...but I did not like ABC and ESPN merging broadcasts...it messed up coverage. I liked it better when they were seperate. Everythings too exclusive now.
