Volca Keys + Distortion + Tape loops = Doom metal?.. and ambient outro

  • Live recording of some experiments with Korg volca keys and distortion, sounds almost like some kind of underground lo-fi metal or something... I used reel-to-reel tape loop with very old tape for almost endless repeating delay, cassette loops for drums and later drone, and old radio for noise =)

      I need a bassist bad.
      You can check out my projects at
      Componentsofthemodernage.bandcamp.com
      And
      B-side.bandcamp.com
      The b-side page is older more sample based production. But the COMA page is my modern sound. I usually do everything myself. All synths nowadays but even when i have a little synth bass i could always mix in some nice live bass. I could use some live bass on almost every song i do nowadays. Either chopping it up or looping it up. Or just having it for certain sections, whatever the case. I want to start on some neq projects bc i lost my entire studio in jan bc of a robbery. So im planning a synthy doom metal, hard bass, drone zone sort of beat project. Along with a new possibly funky sort of project. And i want to start on a new set of beats for a nice synthy pop project. Everything i do is always on the darker side. I dont make to many happy or upbeat diddies. I prefer down tempo dark and melodic. If youre interested shoot me a txt 8329499666

      @SkinnyVampiress  Před 6 lety +1

      Thank you^^ that is Yerasov RS-1 yerasov.com/catalog/insect/rs-1-red-scorpion-distortion
      but mine is slightly modified... they are no longer produced, but you can use any fat-sounding fuzz/distortion, it doesn't really matter that much..
      I used boss pedals, some diy distortions, etc.. and almost every time came up with a sound I like. This is because the synthesizer by its nature offers great flexibility in shaping the tone.

  • @GrannyBender
    @GrannyBender Před 7 lety +2

    That's kind of the same idea behind the latest Doom's ost.
    There is a nice talk that might interest you on how Mike Gordon made it.
    ( czcams.com/video/U4FNBMZsqrY/video.html )
    It's made with more expensive stuff, lot more pedals to keep some unpredictable sounds or effects, 'bugs', etc, but it keeps this same basic idea.

    • @SkinnyVampiress
      @SkinnyVampiress  Před 7 lety +2

      Yeah, I already watched it! =) it's awesome. Especially the part where he mentioned the recording technique that was used on Marilyn Manson and NIИ albums, with guitar recorded on tape and then played back 2 times slower. It can sound really thick and powerful.. That was the reason I bought that used akai reel-to-reel tape machine years ago. It was a pleasant surprise that someone else remembers such things nowadays ^^
