Howson would have been well aware he might have been in trouble after going in late with both feet. That must have influenced his overreaction to being touched on the leg by Sainz's foot
How's on should of been sent off not sainz who should of got a yellow, the pain was there Wednesday night but the sweet memory if the wembley win still fresh in my mind, got alot of work to do with our team when season ends, alot of rebuilding to do,ie, defence and ball winning midfielder,Olly Skipp and Alex tettey were perfect for our team, try to keep the faith canary fans❤😊
Sky sports red button commentator said middlesboro down to 10 men- a clue there
How come Idah Placheta Forshaw, Warner and Springett were all needed due to injuries in the first half of the season but were deemed wouldn't be needed due to injuries in the second hslf of the season. Idah is far better than Van Hooidonck. Both Hull and Ipswich drafted in players to improve their squad but Norwich' seemed yo think a smaller squad would suffice. Why????
Red card will absolutely be overturned, If you watch it back Madley isn't even watching Borja and Howson he is watching the ball. By the time he looks back Howson is already howling like he's just been shot. The Refs glaring error was to make the assumption that the contact if any caused Howson's reaction rather than Howson acting to cover up his borderline dangerous tackle.
I'm certain we will bounce straight back OTBC
Norwich fan. Have just watched it back as you suggested. In fairness to the ref his eyes were glued to the whole thing the whole time and he's about 6 feet away lol
No I don't think the red card will be overturned. Put Dimi on the wing Saturday and put Sam at left back. OTBC 💛💚
Both as bad as each other, yellow card each, play on……
My one point I feel this proves… I’ve said all season we have leaked players for the last 2 seasons at an unsustainable rate. People always seem to reply “well Wagner likes a small team” or “we still have a large squad in championship terms” we don’t… we have struggled with strikers this season we are struggling with wingers this season we have struggled with centre backs ALL in longer periods then we have had short time problems but we are plugging a leak and another is forming… we need a solid squad it’s no good selling the silver to find the dinner party… I’m sorry if you don’t agree but the squad is spread to thin and when our only back up is now very inexperienced youth at the tail end of a very close season we are in dangerous waters.
The card was a joke, but the way we gave in was far worse. If you can't overcome adversity against a poor side and a manager that doesn't understand 3 CBs is the best way to protect the lead with 10 men, going into the prem would be a serious mistake.
Looking at the table, I think we need to assume that we need 6 wins from the last 10 to make top 6 (and 2 or 3 draws).
That's a big ask. Buuut we've got 5 home games left. Only Ipswich out of those are we not clear favourites for.
If we imagine that we get, say, 4 wins from those 5, then we need 2 away wins. That means I'm circling stoke, Sheff wed and Birmingham. And we likely need to win 2 of those 3.
It's still on. Let's not panic yet. But it is going to come down to the wire. Fortunately hull's form is horrid.
I think your summary is spot on
Not sure if Norwich / Sainz can raise the issue during the hearing that Howson’s challenge should be looked at as a retrospective red card 🤷♂️
HI two things first i don't think it was a red a yellow would been more appropriate , second when the panel look at the tackle could Howson get a ban for the two footed tackle ????
The momentum of the tackle spun Sainz around on his behind with his foot/legs above the ground as he spun touched Howson leg
Agreed the red card was harsh, but must remember that the referee had spoken to Borja a short time before, for another incident, and I think referee had that in his mind when he produced red card.
Howson should've got a red card
We need to appeal against a red card. Yes you could say Jonny Howson is foul was late yeah but what can we do about it now because referees I feel like always gonna get Norwich
Jack you are so pessimistic COYY
w/out 5 top players now, I don't think so!
If you want to get promoted with a team that capitulates against a poor side when playing with 10 men, you are just asking for embarrassment in the prem. Wagner should have changed to 3 big CBs and taken Barnes off, but didn't. He simply isn't savvy enough.
Being a City fan is difficult again unfortunately, I feel with one or two big sales in the summer and a squad clear out with a manager who is on the same page as the director of football we will be much better next season. The only thing that stings is possibly watching Ipswich go up and become the new Brighton in the PL. We need to get this season over with at this point.
It will be our fault for not protesting big D out. We have had multiple chances to move forward and allowed her to repackage the cheap option too many times. Self sustaining, while millions of pounds in debt, is the latest farce marketed as, "the right way," simply to allow her to cling onto some fame. Our chance has gone until the next cycle and the fans are too subservient, so we are to blame.
Red card did it 🔰
Yes
It would be helpful to hear from a qualified referee in matters like this. I'm sure Jack and Chris have contacts. The fact that it was a former Norwich player whose reaction contributed to the sending off may have clouded people's judgement.
Howson just knew he could be booked, so turned the tables on Sainz. He was trying his luck and the referee was the mug that bought it.
haha I'm not thick, that was lol. The game was depressing - we were so good and then so bad after a pathetic piece of behaviour from Howson.
if you watch closely howson actually goes in with studs of the floor and follows through!! in the prem that is reviewed and i think johnny howson would be sent off. Sainz shouldn't be kicking out but howson should go
Sainz don't kick out if you did watch it closely the momentum of the tackle spanned him around on his behind and with his foot /legs above the ground unfortunately Howson happened to be there .
Yes he did you can't kick a player and get away with it
He has a temper problem and probably always will
That's part of his game and he won't be the same player without it.
Howson’s tackle was fine. If you see the video from behind the Boro goal he wins the ball. Sainz is nowhere near it. He’s late but it’s nothing worth a booking for. The rest, I doubt he’ll win an appeal. The rules may be the problem but he had ‘a nibble’ and that’s how any committee will see it.
I honestly see the appeal being rejected. Ref made the right decision.
If you believe that, then you are as weak as football has become. Although, I do agree it won't be overturned because these referees are protected at all costs. A yellow card for both parties would have sufficed so that the ref doesn't have to make himself look like a total clown.
"I've seen it multiple times" is nothing to do with it. You didn't actually see it at all. The ref was about a yard away. It was not a 'trailing foot'. He should get a longer ban.
should get a longer ban? are you mad
