@CrandallWilliams when I say blog era I'm talking about the underground scene...the curren$y, dom kennedy, wale, freddie gibbs, nipsey hussle, mac Miller, asap mob, TDE, smoke dza, big krit, cole, etc...the blog era is when real hip hop was starting to become cool again but they did it in there own way.

When 2pac died, it was crushing. But, there was a big void left on the West Coast. There wasnt anyone on that level besides Snoop. Although other artist were around ( success was different for Snoop and 2pac)2pac had just hit his stride in 1995-1996 and lyrical wise was at his best. 2pac was always a prolific writer and influence goes beyond other rappers. As the black panthers/ Afeni/ Billy Garland/ Mutulu Shakur/ Mopreme/ Assata Shakur/ Queen Panther Yasmyn Fula all had an influence on pac career. Rap have its ebs and flows. When Biggie died Nas/ Jay-Z/ Mase/ and others stepped into his spot on the East Coast. But, 2pac was a rare breed. 2pac was very versatile and his writing style was poetic and reminiscent of a story teller. Not many artists can give you Brenda's got a baby/ get around/ Holla if you hear me/ me against the world/ hit em up/ troublesome 96/ ghetto gospel.

I was one of the front office managers/supervisors at the BHH in my 20's during the 90's, and Nelly wasn't the first to do anything as far as staying in Beverly Hills. All of the top New York cats were staying in Beverly Hills when they came to L.A. back in the 90's. I want to leave y'all with a line from a NY rapper, but I will never speak on any guest's business. My point is that I was standing right there when they returned from the evening that this rapper spoke about in a huge record in 2000. Peace

Can't lie I grew up in that other eras in the 90s but I also grew up in the pre bling era too so jey z and Jermaine Dupri with the whole money ant thing rap video and I definitely used to mess with cash money the big timers bird man and them notice I said used to don't anymore even though back that ass up is still my jam and whole I wasn't a fan of biggie I definitely was a fan of didys and I definitely like the been around the world song and video and yes even that video he did with mase with the shiny ass suits notice I said used to be a fan of not anymore especially with some of the stuff I've been hearing about going with him over the years and recently but yeah I definitely appreciate what the bling bling era did for rap and hip hop I just wish rap and hip hop would have kept its identity in the process or at least somebody had given and alternative to to the bling bling movement and era🗣‼️

I think they’re saying that was when it fully took over. There were party rappers before but you had big records that weren’t about popping champagne, getting money, wearing Rolexes, and so on. The era they spoke on you barely heard a big album that DIDN’T talk about the club, platinum plaques, expensive cars, expensive champagne, baguettes on whatever piece of jewelry, etc, etc.

The west had been dead for years..suge said so himself, why he signed Crooked I. But once they put Game with 50..that gave the West some life. That’s what I’m sayin.
