- Edit 1/2021: I have added amended subtitles via youtube which correct the most egregious errors and gags. Please enable them if you want to see what is actually being said.
Edit 2/2018: • La Asombrosa Excursión... is a more faithful English translation of this cartoon. Watch mine for hilarious Argie memes, then watch the other one to compare.
Actual cartoon shown on public television in Argentina, which I have subtitled for the purpose of educating gringos on the justice of the Argentine cause. Translation not necessarily 100% accurate, but has been made in a good-faith attempt** to convey the spirit of all dialog and lyrics
**attempt not necessarily 100% in good faith (accurate lyrics to the final song may be found at • Video )
Disclaimer: Seriously, this is a work of satire, and you should be able to tell where I have taken liberties with the source material (it is a children's cartoon, of course they aren't actually saying "fuck"). However, I maintain that the translations are no more inaccurate than the cartoon's own narrative of the Falklands conflict.
Not shown in this video are the prologue and epilogue, in which Samba takes the time-travelling jet from and to a museum in the present day. In the epilogue he meets the Argentine Soldier again, now a veteran employed at the museum, who assures him that Argentina will not attempt to use force to reclaim the islands again. I had to cut these for time.
Samba et al are the property of El Perro En La Luna.
This looks like something you would see in GTA5.

Interestingly the SAS to my understanding never actually deployed in the Falklands.
If my older ex-forces colleagues are to be believed, the SAS all mobilised. The plan was insertion into Argentina, attack the major airbases, do as much damage as possible to crippled operations and moral, then extract by land through Chile.
But despite several launch dates and a lot of prep they never actually deployed.

I understand that, according to the accounts of our troops, they were treated with respect by the British even in defeat. Proceeds to list excuses why they are not...
Yes because an 18 year old argentine conscript could go toe to toe with an SAS operator
Actually , while the much larger Argentine forces were bolstered by conscripts a significant amount of the leading fighting force consisted of well equipped and well trained marines. These well trained units did suffer from coming from central and north Argentina, and were therefore not suited to the harsh climate - Patagonian units should have logically been selected instead. Equipment, armaments and logistical support was also on par in both forces.
Casualties and losses were fairly even and it has been recognised by the British Commanders that the war could have gone either way and was won on a knife edge. If anything won it for the British military it was the grit and determination of the servicemen themselves.
As a Brit myself who has had the pleasure of a six month stint down in the “sunny” Falklands I don’t much care for the jingoism expressed by many of the commentators in this video, no matter where they hail from. The Argentine forces acquitted themselves well enough during the conflict and no battle was an easy win.
I would, and always have seriously questioned the validity of the Argentine claim on the islands as it’s based on the fact that the Imperial Spanish crown once held them, and under the common terms of the great 17th-19th century European imperial contest, whichever power seized a territory and held it last, had the legitimate claim (many Caribbean and North American territories swapped hands). Fundamentally, there are very few islanders that can claim any form of Spanish or Argentine heritage. As it is now the 21st century and the colonial contest has long ended, and given the location and population base of the islands they should follow the standard post-colonial South American model and be their own sovereign nation, belonging neither to Argentina or the UK, but merely recognising their cultural roots with the UK as Brazil does with Portugal, and Chile and Argentina do with Spain.
@George Job what do you mean by that? Are you saying the brits on the falklands or the argentinians of the time were scared etc. of that. Or what is your piont with that. No really just make me understand what you mean with that. keep in mind english is not my mothertoungh so it might just be a communication error...

The video has a lot of parts cut out. The original show makes a lot of anti-Argentine narratives, and it actually condemns Argentina for going to war and says in the future they should try to get what they want diplomatically.
The uploader removed those parts because he wants to make the show look bad. After all, people wouldn’t angrily comment about how unrealistic the narrative of the show is if if it were realistic.

England found it first, then France found it. France actually sold the island to Spain because they are allies and Spain was also offering money for it.
Not far from the truth. The British landed there first in 1690. The first settlement was French, Port St. Louis, then yielded to Spanish, whose claim was the papal bull of 1493 and the treaty of Tordesillas in 1495 (which a catholic country like France was obliged to recognize, while Britain was not, being a protestant country and non-signatory to the treaty). The deal with Spain was to reimburse the St. Malo company for expenses of settlement.
Just a little more complete story.

I'm Argentinian. I grew up watching this little kids show, BUT i never agreed about the way they did England people. They made them the "bad guys", when they actually were before Argentina. Personally, I love england in most of it's ways, and I understand that both countries did fight a lot and lost a big number of people. In my school teachers keep telling the islands are Argentinian (I literally found this video while searching for Falkland information), they should accept they won the war, and that France, Spain and England were there before them. Argentina went to fight England (Argentinians didn't want to, the government forced them to go) saying "If we win, we stay, if you win, we'll go" and then when we lost, we've been saying that Falkland was ours for so many years. I just don't get it, I don't get Argentinian's side of the history or the british side of it. I just don't.
The bottom line today is that the people who live there voted 98% to remain British. They do seem like a tiny thing to be fighting for so long over.

@@NecTama It’s pretty obvious that the subtitles aren’t meant to be fully accurate. They’re meant to be funny, but more or less convey the message.
I knew this was inaccurate the moment the Gurkha lost a fight.

shazb0lt the Argentine Air Force kick's the Britanic Float
Grego ¡Fly well the actual events of 1982 would seem to have disproved that and even if that wasn't enough everything you have is now thirty years out of date, whereas the RAF has Eurofighter Typhoons, ultra-modern jets that can give the best the Americans and Russians have a run for their money. Four of them are on station in the Falklands at this moment I believe...
Grego ¡Fly the kicked them, right, they did it so much that most Argentinian aeroplanes could not be used in the Falklands
nobody believe such bullshit, Argentinia occupied a defenseless territory, and when the British army arrived Argentinian troops got beaten badly, as they couldn't hold the island because Gualtieri forgot that if you go to war you're army needs to be prepared to such event which the Argentinian one wasn't well prepared, as the argentinian military junta though that they just had to occupy the territory
Ok, is this a real Argentina kids program? And if so, the subtitles can't be accurate... Can they?
Well, I’m Argentine and this video doesn’t represent at all my opinion on this. By that time, we were in the middle of a dictatorship so the government had nothing better to do but starting a war to increase nationalism. The soldiers sent were really young and had not enough equipment nor experience. When they came back, the best part of our country treated them as trash and a great part of them killed themselves. Even the English military treated them better in many cases. Decades later we are crying over those poor soldiers and victimizing ourselves. Sadly, my country can sometimes be very hipocryte.
Excuse me if I’ve made some mistakes, I’m sixteen and I haven’t yet achieved the FCE.
No eran soldados los pibes, sólo los hombres que habían hecho el servicio militar
Your English is pretty good my friend :-)
Nationalism is poison. You can argue about who can lay claim to the islands, but fighting a war is surely not the answer. It's good to know there are people in Argentina who don't buy the propaganda.

Argentina cartoon: we equal in combat to the UK
Everyone:
Laughter
Well... My dad fought in that war, he was 21yr old when he entered combat for the first time. Some british colonel spared his life because one of my dad friend was wounded (almost dead, he got 7-8 shots) but none critical. Most of his squad got obliterated, but he refused to leave him behind, so he shot until he ran out of ammo, it was a dark night (by then most of our troops didnt have nightvision gear) so he pulled his knife and charged into a british soldier who was behind a rock, but the british knocked him down, without shooting, taking the knife away and taking him prisioner with his mortally wounded friend. Both survided that night. The british then told my dad he was lucky, he would have been killed if he tried to run away and let his friend to die but that act, trying to save his friend, against all odds is what kept them alive. It was like a code of honor, and the british respected him for that.
Porque los ingleses tiene un imperio muy viejo y los hombres lucha para honor
Thats actually how british fight and even they ever colonized half world i still respect them at some points

I am a Spanish teacher and I realized that they add words to the subtitles to make Argentinians look worse and I say this, being from Scotland the one who made this video crossed the line
Yeah no shit it's a joke video. Do you think that original cartoon song talks about slaughtering the British
I’m pretty sure it’s just meant to be funny.
Can you even believe that This show was actually nominated for the Emmy awards?.
Can we just appreciate that British grenades have a "five" second fuse so the Argentinian bloke who held it in his hand would've just blown both himself and a child up
Actually, when the pin of a grenade is taken off, there is only one way to "pause" it, if yoy apply enough pressure of the grenade, it won't detonate. But you will need a ridiculous amount of force, about the force of a human body, people would sometimes leave grenades under the dead so if someone picks it up it will detonate. But i still get what you mean, that guy cannot have so much power in his fists.

Doens't this mean it's spanish territory If you follow their logic?
That would be a good point my friend, only if the British weren't there to fuck those argies and the spanyard's asses when it came to Gibraltar and Argentina.
But it was never a Spanish territory. They owned one of the islands at one point when they bought it from France. They tried to buy the island from the UK but were politely told to piss off.
@@TakoyaKyono interesting
@@TakoyaKyono it was definetly spanish
Look i dont care about the islands and i dont share the views of some of my connationals. But is not an stupid argument. After independization you inherit the territory of the colony. Not only that, but argentina send colonist and make the islands a dependency of buenos aires. The british show up 20 years after and they expelled them. What I believe, is that it was a good reason to go to war back then, not 150 years later. If in the old world (europe, asia, africa) they start to claim land they used to own, already populated by dozens of generations from other nation, the fighting would be endless i believe.
