Note: I just get distracted and rush for no reason but some pain I'm in sometimes and might blunder! Lost some good games that way. Decided to rest up and get that taken of 1st before continuing. Thx.
After a4 (aka, the dumbest move he's ever seen ~ around 2:40) and Bb7, is axb5 Qxa8, Ba7 trapping the Queen a sound tactic? I originally assumed this was the non-existent (according to Magnus) threat that was intended... Am I missing something? There's a lot of open lines, for example the h8-a1 diagonal with the bishop aimed towards the defender Nc3, but I can't see any obvious way that Magnus would capitalize on this.
(assuming you meant Bg7 ab, Qxa1 Ba2) The queen is trapped for the moment, but I don't see how white can win it before black can get rid of the knight on c3, freeing the queen. It's not the best move, but even an immediate Nxb5 accomplishes that. The computer likes h6. If Nh3 there are some tactics on f3, and if Ne4 black exchanges knights then plays Bd7, hitting that b pawn and subsequently the knight on c3.
Isn't a Knight->E3 and then MAT with Queen->G2 a better move on 08:17 ? Sorry i'm just learning chess as a newbie and Im watching your videos and I am wondering if you just missed this move, or it is not good on this level ?
