Haven't discussed a mod/hack in a while, and I enjoyed Triple Trouble 16-bit so much that I figured I had to share my quick thoughts on it. Hope you enjoy this mini-review and try the game out for yourself!

This is a mighty impressive fangame of an already pretty surprising Game Gear game. I don't think it's as much a beauty as Mania visually and not *quite* on the same tier as some of that game's level design, but it's a super commendable effort that could have also been our followup to 3&K.
I do have some other fangames to suggest: Time Twisted and After The Sequel DX for games with new zones and the Classic Sonic of the Genesis era. Sonic Robo Blast 2 is a really good one to look at for Classic Sonic in 3D (IMO it does what you were talking about with Lost World on that regard, but far better). And lastly a shout to Sonic GT, it's a fairly short 3D game but with four open worlds and some of the more momentum based physics outside Classic games.
Yeah Robo Blast 2 was fun to mess around in! Can't remember if I tried Sequel DX or another one, I have a list somewhere a while ago of ones that I tried. I'm hoping to revisit or try for the first time a bunch of them and do quick mini reviews for this channel at some point

Have you tried out any of the other fangames I noted BTW? And do you think TT16-bit or Mania is a better game? Sorry should have probably made it explicit in my last post that I was trying to ask this.
I like TT16 more lol, but that's completely because it felt like a new experience, but it's very hard to compare a fam game to a fully backed official title. An official game built off Mania with completely new (good) levels would easily be my favorite 2D sonic game though. I'm also very excited for Project 06 but I've been putting off playing it because I want to save it for my Sonic 06 retrospective
@@NintenDeen Talking Sonic 06, I haven't really got into P06 but the Crisis City level in Generations IMO was *FIRE* (no pun intended). Just played it today. While Generations gets most of its praise with the modern boosting levels, the Classic levels go underappreciated IMO; sure they don't recreate Genesis physics to a tee and they don't feel like I'm playing a Genesis Sonic game but they explore 2D gameplay in a 3D space in a way few 2D platformers I've played have done. Just need to look at it on its own rather than alongside the Genesis (style) games!
Generations also has the STH2006 project, which doesn't have all the stages but does allow me to play Wave Ocean, Crisis City (the original), and Kingdom Valley in boost style.
To make a more straight comparison - which do you find of better quality: the TT16bit zones, or the four NEW zones in Mania? (Although I think MOST returning levels in Mania add enough for an 'old but new' feel, and there's a few like Chemical Plant Act 2 and Oil Ocean Act 2 that don't appear to recycle areas from a prior level.)
Oh if that's your question then I'd say Mania's new stages.
And yeah Mania adds a ton of new things to their old stages. I don't want to make it seem like I'm belittling them lol. But at the same time it feels more like a "Deluxe" version of old the classics (which were already awesome). And as for generations mods, I'm waiting to update my hardware until I can mess around with some of those. As it stands I've only played the full game on my series X and already loved it
@@NintenDeen BTW I know it's jumping a bit ahead on the 3D games but do you like the Adventure duology?
I don't care for the levels where you play as other characters (especially in SA2, which is unfortunate since you're forced to alternate), but I do really like the Sonic/Shadow speed stages in both games.
Sa2 is probably in my top 5 favorite games of all time lol. Sa1 is pretty close to it, I had both on Dreamcast when I was a kid but Sa2 hit differently back then
