INSANE Topwater Smallmouth Fishing in the Great Miami River (Ohio) (Berkley Bullet Pop)

- I got into a crazy topwater bite on the Great Miami River! This was by far my best day fishing a popper-style bait in my life. The Berkley bullet pop 60 near weed lines and current breaks was off the charts. Ohio has many incredible smallmouth fisheries. I was fortunate enough to grow up on this river in the southwest corner of the state and it is absolutely full of smallmouth bass! Enjoy this morning full of blow-ups and angry smallies!

That stretch of river is so cool, no trees lining the banks, no branches to get in your way, just open easy bank fishing, that would be nice!

Funny thing about the fry is if mom gets hungry and spots one someday she'll eat it and never ask for a toothpick! Thanks for another great video!

When you get to the Hocking River at the dam by the mill, please try your Vudu shrimp there... I have a good feeling it will slay them there, they work great for me here in the Ashtabula River and Conneaut Creek here in North East Ohio..

Another great video crawler beautiful fish I lived in Chicago for 20 years will county lots of small jaw I really miss it here in Trumbull County resources are limited might get one at Lake Milton if you're lucky got to get a day trip planned down there hopefully soon and another great job thanks for the post

Must be a topwater kind of year due to the abundance of cicadas? I have caught more fish this year on a Heddon Baby Torpedo than all of my other top water catches combined!
I would think so! I caught them before the cicadas came. But nature knows well before we do what’s about to happen!
And out of all of those fry you showed us, only a small fraction will survive the first few months, less will survive the first year and the tiniest fraction will make it beyond the first 2-3 years of life. Trophy Class smallies take 7-9 years up north. and they only live about 15 years on average.
Just some food for thought.. That 17.75" fish you caught and released was probably born in 2013....and the 18.5" one probably 2012 or earlier..
yea but its a good sign to see the banks holding thousands of fry! the Great Miami is a fantastic smallmouth fishery! they get pretty old that 18" fish looked very old. I would guess in the upper teens

@@rippinlipswithbilli1608 its all about timing really..learn about seasonal movements of smallmouth during the year! This will help you get in areas where fish are located!

@thecreekcrawler Well it's a little late for me. I'm in Colorado now catching trout in remote locations 11 years ago I was in that area and was born in Dayton.
