I hate being instantly critical, but the pack with all the unlocks doesn’t really meet the asking price.
Obviously there are behind-the-scenes production costs, but if I walked into a target, I would expect the asking prices for these (Hammond Collection) things to be along the lines of...
The gate is $50-60 (eliminating motorized doors, which are cool, but play doesn't necessitate that).
The Rex is $50-60.
The figure pack is $25 (compared to the current Alan and Ian throwback packs, which both contain two figures, a newly tooled gadget and a small dino).
The explorer with upgrades $35-45 (but there are plenty of options that are visually indistinguishable).
This is a command center price without the command center. This feels like a repack with slight modifications. The items are cool, but this feels out of touch with demand. It’s weird to assert that the gate and explorer are worth $250 and the other items are "unlocks". It’s hard to believe any of this is so niche that it couldn’t be in a big box store at far more digestible prices, considering there are comparable items literally at Target now. If the motorized door was the priority, then, IMO, it would have been far more appealing to make it independent of all of these other items at a $100-125 price with a complete gate enclosure, the padlock signs and goat as the unlocks. Hopefully, this was somewhat constructive.
Those are some good points you make. Wish Mattel would put more thought into what they release in store and what is a Mattel creations release. I was frustrated with them when they cancelled the new Spinosaurus pack but still released the big three dinos from Dominion when many people already had the T- rex and Therizinosaur. I also felt they should have released Dr. Sattler in her own pack like they did with Grant and Malcolm instead of forcing people to buy a $120 pack just to get her figure.
IMO Without the motorized gates , this would be completely worthless. Pressing the button to Have it open wit music playin is what makes this special
@@Charmander009For a crowdfund I agree, which is why I mention the more ideal approach at the $100-125 price range for just the gate and fence enclosure. The non-motorized option is what I’d expect in a big box store.
Too expensive for not enough new things. All of this could have been done in the regular line if Mattel stopped making countless repaints of the T.rex, Triceratops and Velociraptor. Also, shame the paddock signs are exclusive to backers (edit :everything is exclusive to backers, which is even worse). Also, why make Buck part of a set from Jurassic Park, when he is not in that movie. If seems to me you guys know the set isn't worth the money you are asking without the rex, but can't add a regular rex because you released it already twice, so we get this maketing strategy that is kinda frustrating to fans. Also, limiting the access to international backers is just disrespectful to the fanbase.
The Buck is a huge improvement over the last trex I hope it will be available separately
Nah, just because of the feet? The proportions in the chest and belly are still bad :/ they're too little, and also the legs and the head look the same longer/bigger than they should be, just like in the normal Rex. They could also improve the details and sculp in general. It doesn't cost more money, just a little effort on doing things right.

@@AtrociCollector Ok, I accept that I might be negative, but it is a true that Mattel could improve its sculptures a lot. Fans can make amazing customs even when they're not that huge company. Mattel also has already improved some dinos like the Indominus. And It's not more expensive to do it. I think it is just a matter of making a good effort and to offer customers what they deserve for the prices they pay :(
@@diegogc9969 that’s true but fans only make 1 or 2 customs for themselves. Mattel has to make for the entire world. More materials and money are needed. Not to mention that they have a budget too… unfortunately

Its really really shame to see that this is only available to US & we have to hit 5000 in order to "unlock" to international customers. Really Mattel ?!! Seriously, there are numerous international customers eager to buy this, despite the heavy price tag. Everything solely to US is not a good idea folks !

Mattel, if you want to save this( which I do) lower the price. Judging by the price of each thing included, we would have as low as $180 to a high of $211. $250 is ludicrous

I backed this on day one. This is a dream collection piece for me, and I REALLY want the more accurate Lex figure, but given the current numbers it looks like the gate won’t even get funded. I think the high price point and the fact that Mattel didn’t immediately open it up to international backers made the hurdle way too high… which is very sad. I hope they find another way to release this stuff in the future now that they’ve sculpted everything. I would buy every single item in this set individually, excluding the buck (despite the resculpted sized-down feet) because I’m not as big a fan of the Lost World.
Oh yeah. You're probably right. As of date, it is on 29% backed, about 1,400 backers so far with 5 days to go. The asking price should have been lower in my opinion
Yup. Asking international prices while locking out international backers until US backers pay up first, pretty silly. We're already used to "if it's heavy, they're expensive" or simply not available unless selling your soul to eBay scalpers.
That's assuming you're ok with it all being rather lackluster in the first place, really want a gate and can't 3d print one.
Mattel, I really hope you listen to fan feedback because this is not it. We barely see the Hammond collection distributed in Canada and now you lock us and the rest of the world out of a crowdfund? The contents of this project don’t match up, and gatekeeping (pun intended) these pieces that would easily sell at retail is a poor way to engage with fans for the celebration of JP’s 30th anniversary.

Mattel please hear me and other Jurassic fans out and add more days like you have in the past with less anticipated crowdfunds, or make at least the gate in the future,I and others think it would do good in retail
it's neat but... I was hoping for a visitors center. it is nice to get tour car 05 with the other two released being car 04. i kind of feel like the Buck Rex should of come with a lost world trailers set ( I guess you could use the Doe instead now) with a Kelly, Eddie and the high hide with Eddie's dart gun, maybe even a Mercedes with a motorized winch to raise and lower the high hide.

Please, please, make it so that the entire set comes out in stores because so many people aren't able to afford the $250 asking price and a lot of people really want this set including the Buck T. rex. If you payed $250 hoping for the full set and it only reached the 5000 mark, you'd probably be extremely disappointed with what you ended up getting so please consider making this an affordable product.

Awesome, good deal too, but i hate the tier and crowdfund system, just give us the whole pack from the start and make it to order. I also see a problem here again, how are we going to get a 2nd tour vehicle that matches up with this one in detail? Last, please do a good job packing when sending this stuff out, my Outhouse came with major dents....unacceptable for a collector item.

I think it would have been wiser to make a visitor center perhaps even at $500-650 and to offer the door and the Ford Explorer as "gifts" once certain levels have been reached
And in the theme of the lost world, propose The RV Fleetwood with Malcolm's team, as well as several ingen vehicles and once the bearings have been acquired, put buck and doe with the hunters (Ludlow, Dieter, Carter, Burke, Ajay)

This is Mattel's Best work in the Jurassic Park toy line. There are 2 more days for voting, and the tiers have changed for the better, and votes are rising. WE CAN DO THIS, I've seen Mattel add more days on previous crowdfunds, so PLEASE Mattel add more days and to everyone else. Spread the word and pre-order this toy.

This is actually a pretty good improvement but why it’s in a pack that’s 250$ is beyond me when the buck isn’t even in Jurassic park. This whole crowd funding system kind of sucks and I just wish Mattel would actually not be lazy and make the figures in their own rather than making them exclusive to whoever funds 💀
Excuse me. The Buck is in Jurassic Park. All the sequels are considered "Jurassic Park" with a different name.

Yeah, I can get a Cheap Gate with a T-Rex and a sort of Raptor, 2 3.75" figures, and an ATV for $16.95 at Walmart! I've bought a couple already to build up my Savage Land numbers. Yeah, compared to JP Dinosaurs they aren't near the quality. In fact, I only keep the 2 Dinosaurs and give away the rest of it to neighbors kids. Just saying.
