I've never had the honor nor privilege to sail on _Silver Cloud_ , but I sent away for their brochure in '96 or so, and used her as the initial setting for a superhero roleplaying campaign ("Structure") I ran in a chat room on America Online. We had a good time with that one for a couple of years; having the deck plans at hand -- at least the passenger spaces -- was a boon to visualization.
(Very briefly, during one cruise some of the passengers gained superpowers, upon returning to Long Beach they purchased the ship from Silversea and converted her into a floating superhero base, complete with a helicopter pad added over the pool.)
I'm happy to see the ship is still around; I may just have to travel on her one day to get the complete and real-life experience.

OK, you've convinced me: this is the ship of my dreams! I have never wanted to cruise aboard one of the gigantic floating theme park ships. The thought of being trapped inside a Las Vegas hotel that makes port calls is to me a nightmare. But I love natural history and Road Scholar tours, so I would adore traveling on this ship.
I grew up as a Navy brat in the years when they transported military families overseas, literally over seas. I have clear memories of crossing the Pacific from San Francisco to Hawaii at age 3. Crossing the Atlantic to Africa at age 7, then returning back into New York City at age 9. This last trip was aboard the USA Independence, which was scaled more like this expeditionary ship. It had a lot of fun activities for kids, but on a modest scale. About twenty years ago I was on a business trip to Oahu and to my amazement saw the Independence docked in Honolulu. Apparently she was just traveling among the islands in her retirement years.
Really enjoyed your informative video. Must put this ship on my bucket list.

I really agree with your assessment of the decor, which looks appropriate for a more "serious minded" cruise like this. I wouldn't want a glitzy Caribbean cruise atmosphere with a casino and shows. A very nice change from what adventure travel used to be.

I also watch camera reviews but am wary of the ones where the reviewer has a review unit and affiliate links. Having said this I feel your goal is to help people.
