    Since you are now doing this fairly regularly, I highly suggest getting some better tools. Impact wrench for those tougher ones, your wrists will thank you. Great content as standard👍

      The comment about impact tools is right,but you could go down the battery route,the parkside stuff from Lidl is really good and very reasonably priced 👍

    You’ve definitely got a project bike there sir!!!… but off-road bikes are relatively simple to work on…and haul about onto stands etc!!!😊

    Well done getting the swingarm bolt out, I kept saying to myself hit it, stop tapping it and hit the thing 👍😁.
    I know how hard they can be to remove ,had to use a 50 ton press in the past to get one out.
    Looking forward to seeing what mess the engine is in ,hopefully just a clean up, bearings, seals and a rebore is all it needs, fingers crossed its not wrecked

    Great vlog, this is going to be a pretty easy resto, once the frame and swing arm has been refinished ,suspension sorted, it will look as if it's nearly a rolling chassis..

    When you're using a blow torch to loosen a bolt, you have to hold the heat on it for some time, and often when you start to hear it crackle that's when all the grud holding it is starting to melt and burn

    Bedliner paint the plastics, some love it some hate it but it's perfect to help protect any bush bashing vehicle for another 20yrs.....

    I had to put an a 1996 rm 125 frame swing arm and engine in a press to get one of these out once.. it's the collars that roll on the needles that get stuck on the bolt, you got so luck 😅 sometimes it comes to you have to cut the swing arm off

    We have all been there, trying to do jobs with only the minimum amount of tools. Well done for hanging in there. I bet the old girl cleans up rather well. Can`t wait to see the insides of the engine and gearbox😲

    Top tip, buy yourself a long breaker bar instead of using a wrench to undo everything.

      To be honest tempted to just use my 💪🏼and no tools! Haha yeah I keep meaning to get a breaker bar I don't know why I haven't yet.. maybe when my ratchet snaps in half I will probably buy one you know how it is

    If you are hammering out a stuck bolt then keep the nut on it to begin with. Just loosen off a few turns and hit the nut with the hammer. Then remove the bolt as it will be loose. Also get yourself a JIS screwdriver if you are going to working on Japanese bikes of this era. It may look like a Philips headed screw but they mash up really easily

      The whole bike weights the same amount as the BB engine... I don't have to draft in Nicole for a helping hand on this one! 🤣
      Blow torch was in hope I could expand the metals to break their bond

    Get yourself 3/8. & 1/2 breaker bars, stop using ratchets to break tight bolts, you’ll wreck the ratchet system.

      Been using ratchets for years never broke one shouldn’t be an issue on a bike if it’s a decent brand

    Get yourself a vessel jis p2 screwdriver. You'll strip screws like no tomorrow if you continue using a phillips in JIS fasteners.

      @@BikesofRye good luck bud, back in the day I used to own a cr250 road legal, yes! Road legal imported from Italy. Note, it wasn't the crm250, it was a cr250 with professionally fitted lights. What a beast that was!

    Isnt the whole thing about two strokes that the oil is mixed with the fuel and therefore there’d be no oil in the engine when you take the drain bolt of cause everything gets burned with combustion

      The oil to lubricate the clutch/gearbox resides in the engine. This needs changing more often than a 4 stroke as typically there is less of it. Whereas the oil for lubricating the piston/cyl is mixed with fuel in the tank.

    Top tip, to bring the plastics back to life use a blowtorch or a heatgun/hair dryer they will look like brand new again

      Do you think the plastics are worth saving? Might just replace them. The tank I need to restore though will look into it

      @@BikesofRye if you can save them with a heat gun, its defo worth a try, only if they haven't got any deep scratches tho, you want to keep it as original as you possibly can.

    1100 for a 2 stroke is cheap nowadays. I want a kx250 but theyre absolutely crazy money even for ones that look like theyve been dragged from a lake

    Ive seen worse motocross bikes than that. Youre gonna make it, no doubt.
    My ocd peaks when you unscrew things and they just drop to the grund and you looking like 'how did that come off'😅
    But I think youre to fast on to the next project, I would like to see a video riding the blackbird and if it runs nice and so.
    Get a mechanics motorcycle lift and spare your knees 👍🏻

    Don't waste the time and effort doing a nut and bolt restoration. I've built a number of bikes, from wrecks worse than yours, but I've not restored any.
    Just focus on making it look good rather than like it is sat on the showroom floor. After the first hour on it, when the frame paint is scuffed and the panels get some scratches, you won't have wasted all of that extra effort on pointless tarty bits that are getting knocked about.

    Motor cross bikes are well easier to restore as there’s nothing there really.. 🤔 the thing is to remember.. take notes of where everything goes? It just makes things quicker plus take a few pictures 😉 that helps. But I’ll be honest that cr -125 is a right nail 🫣good luck and get ya check book out 😂😂😂😂

      Yeah there isn't an awful lot to it or at least what I am used to already!! but I am hoping to learn a thing or two once I get into the engine, especially the gearbox
