It's always going to be the case that the majority of people value a catchy hook and a half decent beat that's easy to digest over anything else. I still can't quite understand why professor green became so big over here when he's pretty fucking shit.
The arguement and the reply about origin of genres is a bit weird when you look at historical growth of genres like rock where the beatles and rolling stones were very popular in the states.
