      I truly hope so. I was so disheartened when many traditional animators were let go in the early 2000's. I had gone to school to be a 2D animator and when I graduated the industry was pretty much dead (or all shipped overseas).

    I’ve been devastated at the loss of hand drawn animation that have an organic and expressive feel, you feel the artist’s spirit in it, seeing how people are getting irritated by automation and appreciating work of hand more, I believe that a new era of manual culture will arise, I’m grateful for the legendary artists like you that stuck to your passion regardless of trends

    • @toonydays9139
      @toonydays9139 Před 9 měsíci +7

      Excellent-quality hand drawn animation like this is often associated with a lot of character, life, and energy, like this one of Aaron's. Trends can be popular but doesn't mean they are always good. These days there are too many poorly made animation memes on the internet which are utter shit but often get the most attention on social platforms, particularly by younger viewers who don't appreciate the work of hand drawn animation. You can never compare that kind of nonsense to high-standard animation like this one. Those animations instead make a complete mockery of passionate, hard-working artists.

    • @MDubZ12
      @MDubZ12 Před 9 měsíci +11

      @@toonydays9139in all fairness, there's plenty of hand drawn animation memes. Most of the ones I watch are. And plenty are good. And before you speak so rudely about them so generally, you must realize that a lot of the creators themselves are kids or young adults trying to hone their own animation skills by making fun projects through trends. Many are 16- 19 years olds who are presenting immense talent relative to their ages. Of course some are bad. Many are. But again, many ARE kids, and it's honestly crazy to compare the work they create to this person. I'm sure it took time to hone their skill. And if you look back on some channels, you can see immense progress over the years. Everyone starts somewhere. Animation memes are what inspired me to learn 2D, frame-by-frame animation- the thing you're praising and wanting more of. So obviously animation meme creators are doing something right.

    • @toonydays9139
      @toonydays9139 Před 9 měsíci +1

      @@MDubZ12 Yes I do realize they are kids or young adults. A lot of times there is nothing wrong with what they create or watch from other creators because if it makes them happy, then that's a good thing. Other times, and this is very often, the memes are obnoxious, disrespectful, and offensive, and the creators think they're cool by trying to be "edgy" or drawing the same sexual anime or furry stuff that's not appropriate for their age, and so on. And often by doing so they're not truly honing their skills since they're drawing the same repetitive stuff. So I respecfully say again that that kind of content is utter shit.
      Yes, everyone starts somewhere. You want to participate in trends? Great. Maybe it inspires you. Maybe you have fun doing it as a hobby. But if you want to get serious and actually improve your skills for real, you need to work on things like the fundamentals as well as studying anatomy thoroughly and learning about the real world and nature, even if it's boring. The hard truth that most people, particularly younger people, don't want to accept is that just animating memes and calling it "practice" is not really going to get you anywhere in terms of actual skill. People who challenge themselves to try new things and work on things they struggle with are the ones who excel in terms of their artwork, while the people who "practice" animating memes instead end up getting frustrated as years go by since they not seeing any real progress in their skill, and then they wonder why that's so and become frustrated, and end up blaming everything on having no "natural talent". But again, maybe having fun is your priority and improving isn't, and by all means, you can simply enjoy creating animation memes (as long as it is appropriate of course).

    • @MDubZ12
      @MDubZ12 Před 9 měsíci +4

      @@toonydays9139 edit: omg this is long asf. I'm sorry. Just know that I didn't write this being "upset". Just a genuine response. So if u do read it- try not to read it like I'm yelling at you pls 😭
      content being always edgy doesn't mean they aren't improving if the actual animation is different. Furry stuff... is a preference, but with things like Tom and Jerry or Looney Toons, even if in a different styles, drawing mostly animals is okay. I also 100% acknowledge that some don't want to learn to draw people, but, beyond animation memes, that's a preference and I can't fault them. I don't exactly want to learn how to draw every other animal if I don't have to (definitely not opposed though ofc). In that case, it isn't BAD, you just don't like that content, which is fine. Also, when did I say that I wanted to just make animation memes? I said that they inspired me to start animating. What makes you think that you can't learn anatomy and STILL do animation memes? Many memes aren't inappropriate, and many that are are done by those of age (and again, this isn't just an animation meme thing). I have many ideas and practice anatomy in my free time. I'm a traditional artist who wants to learn animation, and I can't do that without anatomy. Not to mention there are only animals in this video. That's no problem, of course, but shows how people can excel in not only animal anatomy, but in a cartoony way. Plus, cartoon styles often have altered forms of anatomy, so for some people, it's not even required if they don't want to. (I will always be an advocate for growth, however). You seem to be of the belief that what people post on the internet is representative of their level of talent, to which I say is bs, ESPECIALLY if you don't follow them. Do I expect you to? Of course not, but that's part of the problem- you don't know what they're capable of. You are generalizing people by essentially saying that if they make animation memes, they aren't gonna improve or going to want to improve. For me, animation memes would help with knowing that I'll have to draw a certain scene, meaning I'll have to learn to animate it. It gives me steps to follows as a beginner. Once I begin my own projects, I can use what I learn to make something of my own. Also, please tell me, since you haven't yet, what makes animation memes "easy"? Many require a lot of skill to make in the first place. You seem to be talking smack about poor animation in general, not memes. Because I've already said there are MANY great ones. There are many with great examples of anatomy. You say "hard truth" but I've seen great improvements of animation memes as a whole compared to a years ago. From less tweening and less repetition. Most people who make animation memes do more than just that anyway, so what are you really complaining about? The memes themselves, or what the creators are capable of? Nobody's gonna excel at everything, and nobody has to. Everyone can improve, and plenty don't. My issue is the generalizing. I have seen so many people not only improve, but also move away from animation memes as they progress, which is what I strive for. Some do it because they like the trend and want to do it for their own characters. And some just do it for fun and don't mind their level of skill (and I acknowledge that you mentioned people just doing it as a hobby). And, at the end of the day, that's just it. Some don't mind where they're at. They aren't an embarrassment just because they aren't as good, or aren't as invested. I'm in college now, wanting to learn game development and animation (so I can make cutscenes!) And I know that if I were to post what I have, it'd look like crap, for a while too. You don't have to like animation memes, but as someone who wants to make some as practice, and genuinely does care, it does kind of hurt to see people assume that I and many others like me wouldn't want to go beyond that. Many people are bad. Yes. Many people have remained stagnant in growth. Yes. But that isn't representative of everyone, or even most people. What I will agree on is that some animation memes are bad. A lot. But I just can't see how they're bad as a whole. At the very least, they inspire some to really try, like me. (also I hope you don't think I'm mad or anything, I just really want to understand why you have such a concrete poor opinion of animation meme creators, after all, it's not their fault if their stuff blows up, and if they really are doing it for fun, I don't thinks it's right to say they give animators a bad reputation as a whole either)

    • @toonydays9139
      @toonydays9139 Před 9 měsíci +1

      @@MDubZ12 I agree there are people out there whose animation styles have improved even when having done edgy stuff. But generally, I have noticed that if they limit themselves to only that, without actually bothering to learn fundamentals, their skills will typically not improve. I draw animals too, and I like styles like those of Looney Tunes. But I often try to learn to draw other things too like human anatomy, still life, environments, and so on since it helps develop one's understanding of form, how animals develop physical adaptations from the environment and how they differ from human anatomy, and so on. In my opinion, it's good to be open to trying new things, even if your goal is to draw specific things like, say, animals, since learning new skills can help you improve in other skills. I am generalizing the kind of people who are closed minded and do not want to put in the work, and from my point of view, it can have an association with people who post nothing but animation memes.
      Also, I didn't mean you, as in yourself, who wanted to make animation memes. I was using "you" as in people generally. And of course they can do animation memes and learn anatomy. But that's the key, is that they're not limiting themselves to ONLY animation memes, if that makes sense.
      Another thing I should mention is that just because you're wanting to get good at drawing cartoon people and animals doesn't mean you should skip understanding realistic anatomy. Good cartoonists have an excellent foundational knowledge of real-life anatomy, so they know how to break the rules. Aaron Blaise for instance is an expert at anatomy.
      I am not saying that all animation memes are bad or easy, but a lot of the times they can be associated with people who haven't learned anything about the principles of animation, hence why I say "easy" because there is not much skill involved. They do not typically think about fundamentals like timing, solid drawing, silhouettes and negative shapes, and hence their animation often looks off and makes no sense, since it lacks visual clarity.
      I will say that everyone is capable of becoming a great animator, as long as they're willing to put in hard work and accept all forms of criticism. I do not believe that you wouldn't go beyond animation memes, as I am not you and only you know yourself the most. Again, if animation memes inspire you, that's great. When I meant that animation memes are bad, I really meant the ones that are overly obnoxious and involve inappropriate things like screaming, flashing lights, drugs, and sexual stuff etc.

    Not only is this incredibly refreshing due to the call-back to an artistic medium I know almost nothing about (but grew up watching), but I feel it's an example of the importance of story. Something I think can be overlooked in our often tech-centric environment (something I'm super guilty of). Just subscribed! It's not the kind of content that's considered trendy or cheap and I'm just so happy to see that paying off. There's hope after all! This is something I get down about sometimes.

    This may sound ridiculous but this actually made me emotional. I know nothing about animation so I’m probably not going to express the concepts correctly but this immediately brought me back to my childhood (late 80’s, early 90’s). Times were simpler, as were the animations, yet there was so much more individual expression and soul. I didn’t even realize how much I missed seeing animation styled in this way until the first few seconds of the video. It brought me back to cozy days where everything felt safe and the characters on screen felt like friends who’s well-being I was invested in. When the bird was rescued by his friends I teared up and then laughed at the absurdity of it!!! Amazing the emotional response you can invoke with art! Thanks for giving me a small glimpse back into my childhood. It may not seem like much but I am deeply appreciative of the fact that I just had that experience.
