    Just so you're aware... The title of this video is, "How I Use My Spurs". It is NOT, "How I Use The Calf Of My Leg". It is NOT, "How I Use My Heels". Most intelligent riders realize... if the horse responds to your calf or heel... it's NOT necessary to press with the spur. Just saying.

    I like Mr. Trocha's technique. As Mr. Trocha says: timing is everything. If one is using a horse for work, like working cattle, then the correct use of spurs can save your life. After my horses are trained, I only use the calf of my leg for about 90% of the time. If I need to wake the horse up after and inadequate response to my calf pressure, I point my toe down and roll the rowel for an inch or two. I think that is why they call them rowels. Another excellent video Mr. Trocha. You have taught me a lot.

    Oh, this is a delicate topic! I find this video very useful, brief and useful. Thanks!
    I hate the manner with which many riding instructors teaching to use spurs just jabbing; often with school horses that have became lazy. I think that's not the right solution, especially practiced by inexperienced students.
    Love your videos. Come to Italy for some clinic

    Are u using abusive spurs or non-abusive spurs?

    • @ltrocha
      @ltrocha  Před rokem +8

      Your question reveals you're not very knowledgeable about riding or training horses. There is no such thing as abusive or non-abusive spurs. The only difference is the way the rider uses them. Spurs are either used correctly or incorrectly.
