I can't get over the footage of the two of them after the engagement announcement. They were absolutely glowing with happiness, and such a good looking young couple. Very sad day today.
They knew that neither of them would ever have to work, ever
@@larryjenkinson4789 They spent a lifetime in charity work, and worked well into their nineties. I don't know of very many people who work that long. She also served driving ambulances during the war, and he had a military career for years until she became Queen and he couldn't anymore. If you mean neither of them would ever have to work at McDonalds' or dig ditches, then you are correct.
@@willawallace2090 I meant what I wrote.Theyve never worked.I've heard it said they have a role, which is different.
Is there any chance of any of them being made redundant or laid off ?? No, because they don't work.
That happiness was somewhat disrupted in 1950 though. Prince Phillip was placed in command of a British warship right around the time the Korean War broke out, and Britain entered the conflict in support of the U.S.-South Korean coalition (though from what I've read his vessel was sent to Mediterranean duties). With the world on edge (since no one knew what the Soviets would do) and not knowing what her husband of only 3 years might get mixed up in, it must have been pretty frightening times for young Elizabeth. Thankfully things calmed down a bit eventually.
@@willawallace2090 it's an even more sad day today now that Queen Elizabeth has died. I'm still in shock
I’m obsessed with these old tv broadcasts 🙈 everyone spoke so elegantly
Exactly! And the background music sounds so regal. For some other videos, they sound like fairy tale music 🎶
You're quite right abt that.👏🏼
Checkout AP Archives, British Pathe and of course Movietone. You'll get lost in them for days.
imagine you spent nearly 80 years with your love of your live and then you have to live without them ,this makes me so sad for the queen
Grief is the price we pay for love.
I'll never forget the image of Queen Elizabeth having to sit in the church pew alone all because of COVID 19 restrictions. It broke my heart💔
@@yourhomeisyourbusiness2221 she said that and it is so very true.
Rest in peace, HRH Prince Phillip, Duke of Edinburgh.
Were you the palace janitor?
@@praguhbis just another cap doffing sycophant.

Today, 8th September, we commemorate the passing of Queen Elizabeth II, at the age of 96. She has served 70 of those years on the throne, marking her the longest-ruling monarchy of the UK, having recently celebrated her Platinum Jubilee.
#RIPQueenElizabeth2
Queen Elizabeth looked happily during her Engagement days and while the South Africa tour , what a wonderful smile of hers
And they now rest together side by side for all eternity 😢
RIP Prince Philip! 😢
Elizabeth young beautiful
What a beautiful woman…human being!! Being Canadian, I know myself and the majority of my nation are deeply saddened with her passing! It was a pleasure and an honor when her Lady in Waiting hand written a reply letter to me, with the Queen dictating it’s words! I’ll be 54 in October, and I wrote to the Queen when I was in grade 4 🥰💯💯👍🇨🇦🇬🇧🇨🇦🇬🇧🇨🇦🇬🇧
I have sent new year's wishes to Her Majesty last winter and I keep the reply from her Lady in Waiting preciously. God saved the Queen, long lived the Queen. 🇨🇦

Your soul is happy and your memory is eternal🖤🖤🖤
The Queen & Prince Philip's lives of service should remind everyone of the huge, tangible power for peace and stability the British monarchy is for everyone in Britain, the commonwealth and for the world. If there are many reasons England, Wales, Scotland, Canada and Australia, have had no civil war since Culloden in 1746, having a constitutional monarchy is an important one. In the 19th & 20th centuries the U.S.A, France, Germany, Italy, Spain and Greece suffered various civil wars, political storms, and dictatorships. This shows what can go wrong in the absence of a stable constitutional monarchy that is above politics, which helps keep the peace.
The Queen & Prince Philip had their failings as parents. Prince Philip could be tactless. Whatever mistakes he and his family have made, let us be grateful for the service he gave, and the difference the monarchy makes for the better, in everybody's lives.
Rest in peace Queen Elizabeth 💔💔💔💔
RIP 💔

And she has served her country well, its ashame what the monarchy has come to, dont let trash into your family!!
They shouldnt have let Diana in either
What a shame that MeAgain is representing what an American wife does to the British monarchy. She is another Wallis Simpson.

How so very beautiful you are.❤️
Bad mother in law of Diana

Why in that era divorce rare happen?
Probably because people were more old fashioned and strict maybe?
Or maybe they wanted to make their marriage work! Not filing for divorce for the first problem they faced on their marriage. Solving problems instead of just walking out.
It was damn difficult to get divorced back then.
