I think unfortunely Olivia said she wanted a bridge like taylor in cruel summer but her own bridge and nothing alike taylor that did not invent bridges in songs and because olivia was inspired by that they took advantage of that

It's really weird to me that people expect them to be super close when they have a huge age gap. I mean, I hugely admired one of my thirtysomething college professors, and she mentored me and said lovely things about me. But it wasn't like we were hanging out, and everything stayed strictly professional.
I really love both Swift and Rodrigo's work, but sometimes I suspect that maybe Rodrigo's hardcore fans were expecting her to be gifted a closer relationship with Swift than ever would've been realistic considering the generational difference. At Swift's age and stature, it's just business.
Exactly!! I'm in my 40s & I'm not friends with young people. Although, I can have a FRIENDLY relationship with them but we're not friends. And also people, especially people in showbiz use terms like friends, brother, sister, family very, very loosely. Friend word has a very deep meaning to it. Everybody whom you laugh & share a meal with, is not your friend. You cannot throw these words around at anybody. You don't call anyone your girlfriend/boyfriend, so why don't hold the same standards when it comes to friendship.

Its a jealous music industry. Just appreciate the music of young artist. Generations after generations, melodies are being sampled, so why single out this artist or other young artist. Don't be too hard on this. Some songs are just bound to sound similar. Also, sometimes your mind may be coming up with a melody or a beat and you don’t even realize that it’s from one you’ve heard before. It happens a lot. this is literally all made up drama. they aren’t feuding or anything like that. olivia didn’t “copy” taylor. she sampled one song and only took inspiration from cruel summer for deja vu. artists take inspo and sample other artists all the time yet it’s only a problem when olivia does it??
Olivia blatantly used quite a bit, there is a short that this guy did of playing both parts at the same time and it was quite obvious. Olivia has copied other people, including Selena Gomez, Paramore, and more Taylor in her MVs.

i like both of them. I also think that Olivia is young artist and she is bound to be influenced by TS, she was her big fan after all. I think that she should have checked with TS if she was taking such a huge inspiration from her (at the time) idol. Everybody know, by now, how possesive TS is about her work. And not gonna lie, I would be also uncomfortable if somebody samples me without notice/credits.

I don’t like Taylor as a person, but she is an oustanding business woman. Olivia needs to learn how to be professional. If she’s going to take a source (eg. Taylor’s work) and use it for her own work, that’s fine, but give credit where credit is due.

Swifties, don't worship Taylor Swift like she's some kind of originator of all music. Most of her songs are also copied versions of other artists' songs and styles. Taylor is just brilliant at hiding her influences because she befriends them and makes them her squad. Better Than Revenge is a rip from the pages of Paramore (theme of the song is similar to Misery Business), and she made Haley her bestie so that she wouldn't notice. She does the same to many other artists like LORDE, Charlie XCX, Lana Del Rey etc. TS should also give credit to all the other artists that insipred her. If she demanded credits for DejaVu for Olivia's interpolation of the shouting/chanting style of singing, then she should also give the same credits to Charlie XCX for Cruel Summer because Charlie did the chanting/yelling style with Boom Clap before Taylor ever did.

Olivia's Good For You may sound similar at like 100th listen, but the theme and concept of the song was obviously not taken from it, and the musical similarities are more coincidental than intentional. Better Than Revenge on the otherhand, is very intentionally copied. The whole lyrical theme and concept was a copy-paste from Misery Business, just with slightly different words. The concept of having the upper hand after a betrayal occurred, as well as painting the other woman as a whore/good in bed, are two concepts that are obviously plagiarized. Taylor was definitely influenced. She has admitted to being a listener of Paramore, how could she not have been? The only reason why TS' plagiarism crimes aren't so obvious is because she was still branded as a country artist then, and who would even think it? Besides she made Haley and all her other influences her squad so no one can think she's using them and their creative ideas.

I feel bad for Olivia but I think Taylor is in the right. It’s not that she was just “inspired” by Taylor and Taylor demanded credits on Sour. Olivia publicly said the bridge in Deja Vu was inspired by Cruel Summer and she tried to emulate the feel of it in an interview. The bridges next to each other sound almost identical.
Probably a bit of naivety on Olivia’s part but shes named the specific Taylor song and which part of it publicly in an interview but didn’t credit Cruel Summer writers anywhere. In a court of law it’s a definite copyright claim.
Taylor is probably also protective of her co writers and wanted credit for her work although can’t be nice if Olivia felt blindsided by it and if lawyers were involved.
