  • Some under ice views from beautiful lake Saarijärvi in Vaala, Finland
    Divers:
    Fisherman: Eelis Rankka
    Fisherman's friend: Tommi Salminen
Boy with the balloon: Jukka Pelttari
    Camera and editing: Juuso Mettälä
Manuscript by Juuso Mettälä and Eelis Rankka
Safety divers: Esa Vuoppola and Juhana Heino
Music: Stefano Mocini: The end of the doubs
Couple of things about this video:
Camera I used was Sony HDR-SR11 with Amphibico HD Elite housing.
The Wheelbarrow was saved from the bottom of the lake and I have used it many times after that.
The rubber duck and the balloon are also home with me.
None of the divers got any permanent damage either.
And yes, we had a lot of fun making this video.
    -Juuso

Well you could still save it. You had access to a device of some sort to go online.
So if you were at a library, download the video with a CZcams to mp3 site, then upload it to either a personal CZcams channel (unlisted as to not take credit away from the original) or upload to Dropbox, google drive Ect.
You don’t have to own a device to make back ups of things.

For all who don't know... They are standing upside down under the ice (that's why the bubbles 'seem' to be falling from their faces, but its actually going vertical towards the sky). The reason they can do this and why they don't sink to the bottom is because of their scuba gear. You can regulate your buoyancy with scuba gear and by decreasing the weight your carrying. Also, cold water is more dense than warm water, so that means your more buoyant in cold water.

Brilliant! I love doing that when I'm diving, swimming in every direction and avoiding aligning myself so i'm oriented with gravity, it gives a floating/flying feeling that's very hard to describe!
"Standing" upside down on a object that's in the surface of water can be done even with the common Diver's equipment, all you need is enough flotation to beat gravity, and calm waters to avoid loosing balance.

Zirka Fin you're totally right, it doesn't mean that it's going to feel room temperature. The air they're breathing will be basically the temp of the water they're in. the mask they have doesn't cover all of their face. I haven't worn a wet suit rated for that temperature, but the one I wore let water enter when I hit its range of motion. dry suit helps a ton but that face still hits that water

But I imagine you would still get the blood rush and everything that comes from being upside down. I know astronauts in the neutral buoyancy lab are limited in the amount of time they can spend inverted for precisely this reason.

Brandon Foster No, they are not. These divers are just using air, the same stuff you are breathing now, NOT oxygen as you claim. Oxygen can be used by extremely advanced divers as part of their nitrogen decompression schedule after deep and lengthy dives, but not in cases such as this.
Oxygen is actually toxic under pressure and even the divers using it for decompression will not do so any more deep than 20 feet and only when at rest.

Goodness forbid that people actually learn something and understand some physiology. With attitudes such as yours, it is no wonder why the US is 23rd in science education in world rankings. Why is mediocrity so seemingly acceptable to you?

Brandon Foster How did you ever pass the 5th grade English class. You must have failed out enough that you literally just aged through the education system.

I know this video from about 7 years back. I think it may still be the most creative thing I've ever seen. You should have a billion views.
Well, you got a couple millions. Nice enough, but people as a whole don't understand the world of diving.
