note if your e36 has the HK audio system there's no need for this adapter, they come factory equipped with 6x9, I learned the hardway
I dont agree, Factory enclosure for old 6x9s is limiting membrane travel on modern speakers
@@gdrozd555ummmm not sure what kind of 6x9 you have that your have con3/surround coming in contact with the oem hk 6x9 adapter housings? Because I’m using them with no problem with true 6x9 subwoofers playing bass and sub bass only so they have lot of travel. Come to think of it I did actually sacrifice the upper rings from the old hk speakers and that acts as a spacers between the upper frame of the hosing and the speaker. It’s Basically the frame bezel of the old speaker hope someone benefits from my notes
my 98 M3 had 2 sets of wires.
One was going to 6x9s and other set was going to the small 2" speakers
Ive connected my new JBLs to the wires that used to go to the 6x9s and all im getting is bass. All I get is low freq bass. :(
Amazing video! Really pumped to make my upgrade. I’m just curious do i have to pry up those back speaker grilles or they slide out? I really don’t want to break them..
They pop out from one side, then slide out
@@TommyLinebarger thank you very much
Im running into an issue, my rear speakers have 4 wires that plug into the unit in the rear, how did you fix this? do i combine the wires and hook them to the 2 points on the speaker? or do i only need to splice 2 of the connections?
Hi, do you have any idea what size is the factory rear speaker? 5.25”? Thanks!
They’re 13cms
Lol we both have an e30 and an e36 m3 now
Which are some really good speakers to put in, any different suggestions maybe? I will definetly be doing the adapters, thanks for that
I would suggest either Kenwood or Alpine
Tried to install on my 1995 M3, but I am having some issues with the wiring I hooked up both old negative wires to the new negative and both old positives to the new positive and the speaker isn’t working. I have the same blue and brown wires and assumed brown meant ground?
Not always, like I mentioned in the vid, wiring diagrams are different for each package and year so it’s best to do thorough research to find the color matching.
What screws did you use to mount the speaker to the adapter?
TRD ??
Do you know of any other adapters? The one you used is currently out of stock. Might have to look for other options :/
what wires are positive and negative ours look similar
Did you figure it out? I need to know
No sound test...😢
Is this posible for e46 sedan ??
I believe so
Did you splice the positive and negatives?
have you done the kick panel and the door ones yet?
Not yet! Those will be next
@@TommyLinebarger please do lol all my speakers are shot and my kick panel ones finally took a crap, doesn’t help when you got a bass system either lol
Haha got some engine work next
@@TommyLinebarger so did you use M8x .5 for the hardware?
just want to be sure, gonna do my speakers sometime this week
also doing my 5 1/4 up front
still trying to figure out the door speaker situation lol
first gang
LFG 🤌🏼
What size speaker are the factory speakers?
