Here’s a problem i have and i’m sure other people have also. When fading shades with graphite the grade transition is quite easy to know how to approach because you are working with one shade. With coloured pencils a gentle transition from one colour to another could result in a mix of the two colours and therefore a inaccurate, ugly looking blotch instead of a gentle fade from one colour to another. If you have any tips about this i would greatly appreciate the help.
M4ri4n4sG4t3k33p3r^*^333 draw a rectangle and start heavy with red at the left and fade out as you approach the middle. Repeat coming from the right with blue. You should have an even purple in the middle. That’s the best way I have found to practice that
MrsB8T - i understand this method and have practiced it but my problem was different. Recently i tried to draw a classic ferrari, the car was red and had a reflection of light down the side of the car. At first glance the reflection was a pinkish/ reddish shade that was lighter than that of the car but upon closer inspection there was a pale shade of purple in parts of the reflection. When i tried to add this hint of purple on top of the pink colour i got a dark colour instead of a hint of purple.
M4ri4n4sG4t3k33p3r^*^333 ahh I see that example sounds like it would have been better to do the purple by itself instead of on top of the pink since it was a reflection. Burnishing both colors with white will help make it more cohesive. Sorry if this still doesn’t help
