Why they didn't wire this switch into a connector that you could pull straight out of the mounting hole and unplug after removing the two screws is beyond poor engineering. What a headache. I stupidly bought the part without suspecting I'd need to take the entire tailgate apart... Appreciate this walkthrough, though.
Yeah it’s a complete shambles, I was shocked when I pulled my first one out of the box
Great video mate I had 10.6 volts across the two wire while batt voltage was 12. Thankyou for the video-what voltages should i see on the switch wires ?that really helped
No problem buddy. Anywhere between 9-12v is good
What years models are these? Please add to the title
hey, my 2015 Santa Fe sport trunk wouldn't open, but the lights blink when i press the trunk button on the key fob. I installed a new trunk latch that matches the model and it functions normally now but it says my trunk is still open when its not. What did I do wrong? How can I fix this? ty in advance.
Either installed a faulty switch, installed incorrectly or possibly a broken wire further down. Sometimes it can break inside the rubber in between the boot lid and body
Would you recommend someone doing this by themselves or going to a professional to get it fixed?
Depends on how confident you are
U fixed it??
I have 2014 model same problem
How much should this cost to fix? And if I want to do it myself where can I get the part?
I don’t do the pricing I’m just the mechanic haha. I would go with main dealer
Thanks bruh. You da man
So are you buddy 👍🏻
how did you took off the part that has hyundai logo?
So as I say in the video, there are a couple of 10mm nuts on the inner side off the boot. Along with 2 each end of the boot. Once those are undone you need to give the outside trim and good pull as the clips harden over time.
@@owensautotips I was worried the clips would break. Do we need to remove the clips first or do I have to pull the part hard?
If your able to squeeze the clips in from the inside whilst pulling you might stand a chance. If not then your likely to break a couple of clips. Even if you do you’ll still have all the nuts what hold it in place
@@owensautotips thank you for your answers:)
No problem buddy happy to help! Just hit that subscribe button for me and tell your friends about the channel 👌
I have a 2014 Santa Fe and the back hatch keeps on getting stuck someone tells me it's the chords can you tell me
Back hatch getting stuck? Assuming you mean the boot won’t open?
@owensautotips mother in law has a 2017, you press the button to open and it'll sometimes open others it cracks open a few inches then stops and lastly at other times it'll fully open. Is it that switch?
@joselopez-hj5iz if it opened and move a few inches then might be the electric motor
@owensautotips thank you, what would it be called?
@joselopez-hj5iz tailgate motor
Where are you located please
