Description: In this review I will be covering the Body Solid GLEG Attachment - which is an Adjustable Bench with Leg Extension and Leg Curl that connects to your existing Low-Cable/Pulley system (Functional trainer, Low Row, etc.). - Sport
very cool to see a company other than Rep or Rogue get reviewed. This product seems like a great idea, and a space others should be exploring. thanks for making the review!
Thank you, Justin! I appreciate it! 🤘🙏💪
Thanks for this. I've had Body-Solid equipment, they've always made great stuff. I've got a REP PR-5000 rack and their new Ares 2.0 cable system arriving in Aug. I've been looking at this GLEG bench and the new Force USA C10 Sliding Bench. The C10 costs more but in addition to leg curls and extensions, you can do leg presses, hack squats, and preacher curls. It also stores upright when not in use. With my rack I'd use the REP utility seat as a foot plate for leg presses and hack squats. I'm glad Body-Solid decided to make something for those of us with cable systems, should be a popular option.
Hey Kyle! I saw that, too. It’s pretty awesome. Great buy if you are super tight on space. I already have a stand alone hack squat/leg press combo unit, so in my opinion the GLEG is the better option for me (no setup time). 🤘🙏💪
@@DesignBuildLift yep, I don't have a dedicated hack squat/leg press, nor the room for one, which is why I'm looking at that C10 bench. If you're looking for just a leg extension/curl cable option the Body-Solid is more versatile and costs less, although you make good points about the wheel placement and having an upright storage option. I'm sure it won't take Body-Solid long to address that.
Holy moly that design is pretty smart! Good video.
Thank you, Chris!!! I appreciate it!
Thanks so much, we're really excited about it!
@@BodySolidFit Do you have a sit down version that does seated curls and extensions? I feel that would a great option for those of us who already have a bench we like, plus if it came with a shortened backrest, we can use it for shoulder presses, etc.
Great video Peege! Please do more Body Solid reviews if you can! (I realize it's difficult to cover everybody and you're probably inundated with requests to review equipment :)) I can vouch that BodySolid's customer service is excellent! I'd buy this, esp if/when they make the mods you suggest. Body Solid's trying to raise the bar with their racks and attachment options. Not a sponsor, just a 20 year BS fan. Cheers, Ron
Absolutely! Body Solid is a great company with exceptional customer service. Their products are great and keep getting better!
Thanks so much for the kind words Ron and we would LOVE to work with DesignBuildLift more in the future!
That leg extension with the cable attachment is like the first of it's kind that I've seen that let's you attach a cable to achieve that smooth consistent tension for leg extensions which is most often missed with all plate loaded leg extension machines!
I have not seen anything like it either. I love it!
Bodycraft has their F711-CK leg extension & curl attachment/cable kit bundle that's been out for awhile. They added eye bolts to the leg curl roller pads for cable connections. For $10 I did the same thing with my Ironmaster Super Bench. With that said, this Body-Solid costs a little less and has a better design with how they route the cable under the bench.
Inspire Fitness has it.
@@kyles8391 And you did the same for leg extensions and leg curls?
Nice review, Peege! Much appreciated. Looks like a smooth unit. 👍
Thank you, Brian!!!! I appreciate your support! 🤘💪🙏
Thanks so much! If you have any other questions about it, just let us!
Looks good, great review
Thank you, Sean!!! 🙏
Awesome review! Did you get a chance to see if a really heavy load on the cable would make it slide? I know it weighs 110 lb plus the you’ll have your own body weight on there, but I wonder if the force of the cable could make it slide since that just needs to overcome friction with the floor.
I’d add another con for using it as a bench is the height. I prefer 17-17.5” for height. 19.5 “ will be too tall for my short legs 😂. But I’m sure that extra height is a benefit when using it for leg extensions. So definitely a tradeoff.
Great question! The bench weighs 110 pounds plus my 200 lbs…. I would have to exceed what I could lift to make it move. Remember that with plate loaded options you have to go much heaver to get the same resistance - as compared to cables. If you can put X pounds on a standard plate loaded option, that doesn’t mean you can do X pounds on this. All that being said if you snug the bench’s base against your rack’s feet (or functional trainer base)… it wont move at all. If it doesn’t snug up based on your particular equipment’s design you can always throw a length of 2x4 between the bench’s feet and the rack’s feet. I hope this helps.
Agreed. 👍 This is why I won’t be using it as my primary Bench…just for some dumbbell work and for Leg Extension & Leg Curls.
been waiting for someone to get a hold of this and do a review, so thanks for doing it. Thinking about getting it for my "accessory" rack where I do lat pulldowns and just use that as a seat and easily connect the low row attachment and make it semi-permanent leg extension leg curl attachment
Sounds like a plan! If you use my affiliate link please let me know so I can send you a small token of my appreciation!
@@DesignBuildLift Hey Peege, it's been a minute but I saw that it dropped to 460 today so I decided to pull the trigger on it using your affiliate link
@@MrStudman73 Thank you so much Mr. Studman! I appreciate it. I know that you are going to love it!
Danke für das Video
Bitte! 🤘💪🙏
Nice!!!
Thank you! Cheers!
How do you imagine it would feel if it didn't have the cam? I'm planning to try to use cable resistance with my bells of steel leg extension attachment but there won't be a way for me to attach a cam system, while the design is mostly the same otherwise. With the cable passing through a lower pulley but will attach on either side rather than the middle.
Great question! I am no physicist/engineer but….the cam not only helps to route the cable keeping it lined up with the pulley , but also keeps the movement feeling smooth by keeping cable in an arced shaped throughout the movement.
I do this with my low cable on lat/row machine, doesn't have a low cam but it still works, cam would be better but it's still better than nothing
..
I wonder if the bench will move at a big load…

Would the Leg Ex/Curl attachment be removable? If so, would one be able to insert other bench attachments into it -- you know, for preacher curls, etc., like some other companies sell with their benches. Really considering purchasing this!
The leg attachment comes off - but will still be tethered to the bench via the cable. Other attachments would only fit if the square tubing of that other attachment was a good match and it had holes that accommodated the size of this bench’s pop pin. Could work…but no guarantees.
Hi, does it work for the BodySolid GPR400 ?
If it has a Low Row -then yes.👍
Does it wobble left and right when performing either exercise with heavier weight? That's my worry since the feet are not large
I did not experience any wobble.
I know with the design decline would be difficult to integrate however that’s what makes it not for me. The strength curve of a lying leg curl needs a decline function to maximize its functionality. This misses out on that and it fails to mimic a weight stack version because of that.
A decline Position would make this even better. No contest.
Is the Leg Extension/Curl part detachable so that it is just a stand-alone adjustable bench when needed?
Yes. It is detachable, but the cable will still be tethered to the low pulley. Check it out here: shrsl.com/4j7yv
Is the leg attachment removable for when the bench is used for other body movements?
The leg attachment comes off - but will still be tethered to the bench via the cable. But the cable is long enough to set the attachment off to the side so it’s out of the way.
Good view. Too expensive imo
It isn’t cheap, but the quality warrants the price in my opinion. To each each their own though. Respect.
