    Thanks for this review and the first one. You’ve helped me make up my mind.

    Great video, you got yourself a new subscriber. Also, you're only the second person I've ever heard say "horses for courses", with the first being Scroobius Pip.

    Good review, thank you! One remark: you said that in pour over mode the timer stops when lifting the cup for swirling. That's right (I had the same thought) but with one touch on the left the timer continues so it's not too big of an issue. I have had the scale for only a week now but so far I rather like it.

      Yes true but I forgot to press it again 😂 manual mode covers all bases perfectly for me. Glad you’re enjoying it so far!

    • @Axel-pm3gf
      @Axel-pm3gf Před rokem +1

      Yeah, manual mode should do the trick in most scenarios. Everything else is playing but at least might bring some fun and all little improvement for the workflow. I just watched a video highlighting that during the first 45s of timing in pour over mode the timer will NOT stop when the weight is lifted! Meaning, your described problem could be avoided by swirling during those first 45s, essentially during blooming. But I know of course - the need for swirling depends on the recipe and many other factors so this is not a really good solution but still might help a bit.

      @@Axel-pm3gf yes I did know that but forgot! Any case I like to swirl after my last pour just to slow the draw down slightly. Like you say. Depends on brewer and method being used.

    Hello, I can see that you have a custom drip tray for your gaggia classic. Would appreciate it if you could share where you acquired it.

      Mine is a free 3D file that I printed but I believe you can buy on Etsy and shades of coffee. Depending where you are in the world I’m sure there is an option

    I have the same scale. Absolutely hate it. Crazy how hard it is to find a good scale with a slim, compact profile

      I use both this and the lunar. The touch functionality being on top with the lunar is a winner for me.

    Is there a scale that is just as good but without the pour over and espresso mode, i.e. cheaper?

    • @SteveHowkins
      @SteveHowkins  Před 10 měsíci

      Plenty. The only thing I would say is cheaper have a little lag in updating/displaying the weight. Not a huge deal but noticeable.
      They all do the same thing really. Have a read on Amazon at some reviews of different scales and you probably won’t go far wrong.

      @@SteveHowkins The thing is I've been using a cheap one that was absolutely perfect for espresso until I suddenly stopped working after just two months of use. So now I'm hesitant to keep wasting money on cheap scales..

      @SteveHowkins  Před 10 měsíci

      @@UntakenNick yes tough choice. Maybe look for something around £30-50. The benefit of these is the really small size but similar size can be had for less.

    Terrible scale, inaccurate, keeps changing mode by it’s self, buttons are too easy to press by accident, hate it!
