The scenes that took place inside the Haunted Mansion were from the Grim Grinning Ghosts sequence in Disneyland Fun the Disney Sing-A-Long video that was released one year before this souvenir film came out.

Back In The 1990s, My Cousin Cathryn Went To The Walt Disney World Resort And Brought This Souvenir VHS From When Everyone Was Spending Their Magical Day At The Magic Kingdom.
Footage from this video was also used in the 1998 VHS release of Walt Disney World: Around the world with Mickey and Friends.

interactiveWDW So weird. How can it be advertising a ride that was still a year away from opening? I'm confused.
Jared Diamond It's very possible that this VHS tape was modified to add the footage after the ride opened and then sold in place of an original VHS without it? I'm unsure. There have been many times Disney has updated footage and stuff but not updated copyrights on tapes/DVDs. I purchased this set in the very early 1990s, possibly right after Splash Mountain opened. Without anything telling me otherwise, I have to go with the dates on the tapes themselves.
I'm almost certain this is the case. There were at least two different packs sold. The first was a three pack containing "A Day at the Magic Kingdom", "A Day at Epcot Center" and a Christmas at Walt Disney world type VHS. A later pack replaced the Christmas VHS with "A Day at the Disney Studios", which obviously came out after the Studios had opened. This VHS is from that set and it's likely Disney had modified it.
You're both right in a way! I was the screenwriter and director on this video (and others in the package) for WDW. We started shooting in '91 and finished many months later. WDW went with '91 copyright date to cover our initial shooting, rather than the final shooting periods.
