OK I gotta talk about the ring situation here as a female: my bf and I have discussed getting engaged a couple of times over the past year, and I started looking up engagement rings just to kind of see what I liked. The first thing I noticed was, you can get a rather large, very ornate looking engagement ring for under $2000. But that being said, during this past year we also watched a lot of movies. May I just say that one of the biggest tropes in movies when people get robbed, is the robber demanding they hand over anything valuable, and many times that includes jewelry and wedding rings. And then I remember my mom telling me that her wealthy friends don’t even wear their real wedding rings out in public for fear of losing them or having them stolen; instead they wear a fake version and keep their real ring in a safe at home. So I tell my boyfriend, hey so, maybe you just buy me the most gaudy, fake ring so I can get exactly what I want without worrying about price, and then the money that would’ve spent on that ring, we can use for a home or a bangin honeymoon or something. It’s like these women don’t realize they’re about to enter a (financial) partnership with the man buying the ring… Like you really want him to blow $30-$40,000 on a piece of jewelry for you when you know that neither of you are wealthy enough to afford that and that is an extremely large amount of money to both of you??

Honestly after two failed marriages, one where I found out after 10 years married that son #1 wasn't even mine and she knew he might not be but lied I realized. Save the money stay single and spend it on yourself guys it's better spent and saves you losing way more money later if you wife her up.
The 2-3 months salary cost for an engagement ring was an ad campaign started by a jewelry company. That's where it came from. They wanted to make more money off engagement rings. A guy should never pay that much for an insanely marked up piece of jewelry just so the woman could brag to her friends. It's not like that makes the relationship any better and the guy loses it if they get divorced (along with half of everything else).

even my own mother told me before I have my first girlfriend long ago, that "you have to endure women most of the time" followed with "As a woman myself, I'm confused on why we are like this, hanging out with fellow women will always end up in drama whilst when hanging out with men, you guys are chill" along that line, I forgot. But basically she's saying that as a woman, she's confused on why women act like how they are, and she hates herself for it too sometimes but just can't help it. So, I needed to embrace that if I love one, but also to know that whatever I do, my kindness of letting my girlfriend "win" is not a weakness, just pray to god that she can process it and know that I'm right in the end.
That’s a tough philosophy to carry in a genuine relationship. To submit to a partner’s potentially illogical or unethical behavior just for the sake of keeping the peace doesn’t sound like a wise solution. I think a partner of any kind shouldn’t be allowed to bully the other just because it’s a pattern seen amongst their peers. The troublesome partner MUST at least learn to control themselves enough to not bully family. It’s alright to not feel “okay”, but people should not be enabled to be petty or verbally abusive
