I meal prep for vacation, too! Most people think I am crazy packing so much food, but it saves more than just money. It saves time, avoids decision-making about where to go out to eat, reduces traveller's tummy issues, and keeps me sane. My favorite tip is to pre-cook casseroles and things like taco meat and freeze them. In the cooler with added ice on a long trip the foods stay cold and we can heat a meal while we are unloading.
I’m always so jealous of the great deals your stores offer. The stores around me hardly ever have even decent deals. It’s still just cheaper for me to shop at Walmart and Aldi.
Same!! I was like, how am I missing these, but we also try to strategize between Aldi, Walmart, Amazon, and now BJs since their membership was virtually free this year yay!

We just got back from the Grand Canyon! My husband and I plus Daughter, son in law and 3 Grands. They did lots of hiking. We because of age ,did not but did lots of walking that did not include climbing . It was so fun. A huge trip for us. From Virginia to there. We flew. Also landed in Vegas and spent night . Eye opening! Locals Hoover Dam. We did that. Loved it! Stopped at many spots on Rt. 66. Spent Friday to Friday. So Thankful we got to have one of our Bucket list things done. And having 3 Grands with us was fun. 15, 14, and 11. 2 boys and a girl! I know this trip was wonderful for you and your family. Thanks for taking us along!
I have a coworker who is in her 60s and she hikes down to the base of the Grand Canyon and back up on the same day and she does this every year. We live in Indiana, but she flies out there and hikes and flies back.
I love how you prioritize fun AND fitness in your family/life!! As an adult now who struggles with weight/energy/motivation I wish my parents had instilled these values in me at a young age. LOL! I used to forget the ketchup and butter when we went camping. It is now a joke and I NEVER forget it. I even take it when we go on an overnight trip. Great video!!
Dunkaroos are the best entertainment on a plane for toddlers. The package domes so high and they spend an hour just poking the package and laughing. Plus, it was the only time they came out.

I was just a few hours away riding and running in Rabbit Valley (on I70 just over the CO border) and it is amazing how much food was consumed! Oatmeal crème pies are definitely going on my list for next trip:)

With rice I HATE brown rice but I love black (wild rice) and red. I've noticed that boil in bag vs 5 min rice is sooooo different. Basmati and Jasmine taste the same to me.
Basmati cooks as long separate grains (opposite of sushi rice which is short and sticky), and jasmine is long and fragrant (not immediately obvious but if you go from jasmine to regular long grain, you might notice the difference). If you’re not fussed, honestly to me rice is rice (when we eat out we eat whatever rice is served). But my kids are fussy so🤷♀️
Moab is so beautiful, what a fun trip! My husband likes mountain biking and I'd love to get into it so we can do it together, it looks so scary to me though 😵

I finally hit a deal at Fred Myer. I went to grab the $2.50 Kroger hot sausage when what ?? ... right above it was Jimy Dean Hot Sausage clearanced at $1.98! Finally got some under $2. So I ... Umm ... grabbed all 16 and didn't feel bad about it at all. Actually meal prepping some protein pancake and sausage bites right now.

id LOVE to be going with you ! My tip for fabulous packaged muffins,, ,sub coconut oil for most of the veg oil, add a little bit of olive oil to fill the 1/4 or 1/3 cup the recipe requires. I did this in a pinch when i didnt have any other oils on hand. I was using Krusteaz Cranberry Orange Muffin mix. OMG ! Seriously, they were way better than normal. They received RAVE reviews. No coconut taste, just a super light and delightful mouthful. PLUS the Dollar Tree always has bottles of Coconut oil for $ 1.25. Enough for at least three batches of muffins. Thanks for all the great info and tips and ideas along the way.

I don't order meal subscription kits, but for those who do, I think it's a great idea when vacationing to have it sent to your cabin ir Air B&B! When we take road trips, I definitely pack at least lunch and snacks. So much cheaper and healthier because hubby and I are on a weight loss journey.

I'm going to do that meal and snack prep the next time I go on holiday in the UK. Every time we go on holiday I find myself doing nothing but cooking and cleaning up when we get in. That's quite hard for me when I've been active all day (all be it not to the extremes you all do). I have fibromyalgia and I come back exhausted. I usually bring my slow cooker but I really like the idea of bringing a lot of stuff ready prepped.
LOVE Moab area. We've been several times. Never done anything twice. There's just so much to see and do! *And everything is harder in Moab cuz of the wx and elevation!!* And we prep like you, cuz we just want to get out and go! It's easier to have the goodies and needs at hand on the trails. :)
My family is coming to visit me so this is their vacation from NC to FL- so we will be doing a lot of beach walks and looking for sharks teeth- but when I go up to see them its hiking and biking time!!! love the video!!
I lovvveeed this video especially the awesome biking shots at the end. My preteen boys have just got into mountain biking and I was like “well I’m not sending you out on your own!” So at 40 I have now started…omg SO-MUCH-FUN!
I don't really travel anymore since I stopped working but I always preferred to stay somewhere that had at least a microwave and frig. I preferred to eat breakfast in my room (mostly cereal w/milk) and I liked to keep some snacks for night as well. I am an avid milk drinker so I like to have milk everyday and that is not always easy when staying at a hotel. I used to pack those shelf stable boxes of milk. Also, when I would go out for dinner, I would have enough leftovers for dinner the next night so I didn't have to go out every night.

We just watched the matrix with our 12 yr old this last weekend. He didn’t NOT want to watch it, but he ended up really liking it.
I just made those Blueberry Muffins and I recommend adding all the blueberry liquid, because the instructions tell you to drain it off, but don't!!!
I made Christine's banana muffins yesterday and added Aldi semisweet chocolate chunks!! Yummiest
Not to mention it helps the "color" too :)
Adding the blueberry juice make them taste better and it make them more moist.
