    1) Bodybuilding studies can't take into account outside variables...
No shit, that's why you see large sample sizes, randomised allocation to experience groups and significance testing of results.
    2) Fitness influencers are going to find studies that fit their agenda...
That's all you and your brother do to
    3) Bro, 3-4 sessions per week is not a bro split. At most that's PPL if not UL or full body.
    4) You'd have to be absolutely destroying your muscles to need 6 days recovery between workouts for the same muscle. If you're training that hard your CNS is not going to be up to training a different muscle group the next day with the same intensity.
    5) Bragging about not reading studies is a pretty bad look for an exercise scientist.
    6) As far as mind-muscle connection, forcusing in form is not really mind-muscle connection in the sense of what it's being portrayed here. If you tried to guide your form based on how the delt feels (I.e you know your form is good because you can feel your delt is doing all the work) than that is what is generally referred to as mind muscle connection. And studies have shown that to be inferior to focusing on the external movement as you are advocating.

The ongoing debate between the efficacy of free weights versus machines for strength training is nuanced, reflecting a spectrum of preferences, goals, and physical considerations. While machines have their place in a balanced fitness regimen, particularly for beginners or those with specific rehabilitation needs, free weights arguably offer superior benefits for most individuals. This essay delves into the reasons why free weights are considered superior to machines for enhancing muscle strength, promoting functional fitness, and offering versatility and adaptability in a workout regime.
Free weights, including barbells, dumbbells, and kettlebells, demand a greater degree of balance and coordination compared to machines. This requirement for stability activates multiple muscle groups simultaneously, including both primary movers and stabilizing muscles. For example, performing a bench press with a barbell not only engages the chest muscles but also requires the activation of the deltoids, triceps, and various muscles in the back and core to stabilize the weight. This comprehensive engagement results in a more balanced muscle development and strengthens the body in a way that mirrors everyday movements and activities.
Another significant advantage of free weights is their contribution to functional fitness. Functional fitness refers to exercise that improves your ability to perform everyday tasks. Since free weights more accurately simulate real-world movements, they enhance your body's ability to perform common tasks, such as lifting heavy objects, pulling or pushing doors, or squatting down to pick something up. This is because free weights allow for a natural range of motion, enabling the body to move through paths it typically follows outside the gym. In contrast, machines often lock the body into an unnatural position and guide movements along a fixed path, which can limit the development of functional strength and potentially lead to muscle imbalances or injuries.
Versatility is another area where free weights shine. With just a set of dumbbells, one can perform a vast array of exercises targeting all major muscle groups. This adaptability makes free weights not only cost-effective but also highly efficient for those looking to maximize their workout variety without requiring extensive equipment. Furthermore, the ability to easily adjust the weight lifted allows for progressive overload, a key principle in strength training where the amount of stress on the muscles is gradually increased to stimulate muscle growth and strength gains. Machines, while useful for isolating specific muscles for hypertrophy, often lack the same level of versatility and adjustability.
Lastly, the psychological and motivational aspects of using free weights should not be underestimated. Many individuals find the process of physically handling weights, setting up their exercises, and directly feeling the resistance through their movements more rewarding and engaging. This direct interaction with the weights can enhance the sense of accomplishment and progress, fostering a more positive and sustained relationship with fitness.
In conclusion, while machines have their utility in the fitness world, free weights offer undeniable advantages for those looking to build strength, improve functional fitness, and enjoy versatile workouts. The holistic engagement of muscles, the promotion of natural movement patterns, and the psychological satisfaction derived from using free weights make them a superior choice for most gym-goers. Ultimately, the best fitness approach is one that incorporates a variety of methods, but for those looking to maximize their strength training benefits, free weights are a clear frontrunner.

to begin with, I would like to congratulate you on the number of subs (I followed you when you had about 80k). I have been training for about 9 years (but with interruptions) and I have problems with increasing the number of pull-ups. At the moment I can do 100+ push-ups (I have 72 kilos out of 170), but only 16 pull-ups. If you could write me a message to increase the number of repetitions. I know you made shorts about adding extra weight, but I haven't been able to move for 4 months. Thanks in advance for your advice.

For resistance training pulling and leg exercises, as well as resistance bands for practicing shooting. So things like pull up, rows, squats, and deadlifts so be the priority. And it does have certain performance aspects as posing is a performance and not being able to do it can effect the outcome of the comp and while doesn't sound hard on paper there's some skill to it which does take effort. Kinda sounds like you don't like and respect it without actually knowing much, and just basing it of what you see in pictures. Its like thinking you know what football is without ever having played or watched a full match. But i guess bodybuilding being a sport is based on opinion as everyone seems to ignores that it meets the definition of a sport.
