Tbh a lot of people would choose the arts if money isn't a problem
Edit: btw i ain't saying people who doesn't pursue art bc of financial problems aren't at all happy with their work, people can like and be interested in different things yall
true
Ya that kinda bummed me out for them canât lie
True. Most people like to learn arts. In the early times art and artists were considered great.
thatâs why so many celebrity kids become artists and musicians, theyâre very lucky to be able to pursue something without money being an obstacle
This is soo true, honestly I've done my major in business studies but now that I have enough money I'm doing my further studies in psychology!
If money isnât a problem in this world, I would definitely choose Culinary or Arts.
If it is based on current society, then engineering.
@@aditinandy8152 don't give up on your passion completely. Things like arts can be kept as a side hobby. It can also be an escape for you. Honestly you'll do much better if you find a way to balance the two.
@@aditinandy8152 there are quite a few universities which give an ocean of opportunities in the field of research. Like IISER then NISER, CEBS Bombay. If you're looking for the monetory aspect then a R&D won't be bad. But if you are already in medicines then congratulations. Although you can still go into various other research programmes after mbbs if you're very much passionate about it.
@@aditinandy8152 If you're talking about R&D engineers then that might be true. But for R&D scientists average is kinda 8lpa. One of my friend's brother is in this sector that's how I came to know. He's earning pretty well now. I agree though that the scope isn't really great after all in India. Might consider going to a different country if you're getting a good sum. They do pay well in these sectors.
You can actually make money from Culinary and Arts, that is if you're already a rich person, who can afford tools, equipments, ingredients, etc. To supplement your works. This way it's easier for you to find opportunities. The same thing for Computer Science. And other technology based courses, that requires laptop to fully keep up. Man I am using my 100mb left phone in college because no one in my family is willing to spend and invest for my future. They won't even let me get a part time jobđ€·ââ

Crazy thing is that a piece of paper will not help to get a job you want, they want experience at work. They donât really care if you went to college. Also, Iâve heard that trade school is better ig.
@@gringa23 Trade school should be more talked about as an option for kids not dedicated to college or simply cannot afford it. Some kids really thrive in trade school and it could boost their self-confidence in their abilities. Tons of practical experience in something too canât hurt the job options.
They always say that, "There's no future in arts" If someday I could find something that could slap them back that arts is everywhere just like math. Err
Remember when the world cherished the hell out of artists?

Prof here. I've been watching a lot of content from this channel, and I just want to remind everyone that college should be fun. In fact, it should be a lot more fun than your career. So? If pursuing your chosen degree just stresses you out or if it brings you no joy...can you expect your working life to be better? You don't have to be passionate about your work, but you should be able to derive joy from it. Everyone has to work, but I believe everyone who can should try to pursue a career that pays you more than a salary. So, if you COULD be studying something that brings you more joy, why not pursue it?
Parents
Fears
Being let down about it too many times âyouâll never make itâ and some people do break due to that
Thatâs why. 2nd option ends up being the only option in some peopleâs minds and itâs sad.
Since I was little I kept being told that having a career in performing arts is too risky and it's better to keep it as a hobby because I might not be good enough to compete with other artists. Until this very day, I still regret not pursuing it anyway. So I completely agree with what you're saying, but a lot of people were pressured into NOT pursuing our passion.
Having stable future and good job opportunities is far more important. What ever you do your job wont be the reason you're happy. What you do with the rest of your time is. And for that you need money.
@@yareyaredaz3522 I should preface that I work in the US and am speaking about opportunities that exist in that country. Individuals can grow wealth with or without a college education. There are many pathways that lead to financial stability. That many of the wealthiest individuals in our society do not have traditional college degrees is an oft-mentioned anecdote. In my experience, students often choose to pursue a college education because there's a particular career they want to go into. They may have different motivations for choosing that career, and I'm not so naive to think that only few students make that decision based on the potential financial return from a corresponding career. However, if you're working towards that degree and subsequent career and are completely miserable, you ought to consider your other options. Do you have to put yourself through decades of suffering to achieve a specific quality of life? I am so disheartened to see so many students tunneling on specific majors that only bring them despair when they might consider others that they may find more enjoyable and which STILL allow them to achieve their wealth goals. Perhaps they might have less stress foregoing a traditional college education all together and pursuing those goals through other means? And I also think it isn't necessary for everyone to pursue a program of study or career that they are "passionate" about, as passions change. Rather, finding something to study that is interesting, brings more pleasure than pain, and is ultimately satisfying would be a much better use of all that time and money we put into our college educations.
@@lilgrannyari I'd love to give an elaborate and well though answer to you because you raised a lot of very good conversation points here but I'm pressed on time so I'll make it brief. I study Physics in Greece. 4th best department of Physics in EU. I love physics its what I wanted to do. And I'm natural at it. But it's not the only thing that gives joy to life. Ultimately I'm far more cynical about work. It's a means to an end. You do it so you can have a decent income to travel, spent time with friends, not worry about bills and loans etc. Work is what helps you survive. The whole "I'm gonna be wealthy" narrative is a fairytale and completely unrealistic for 99.9% of the population. You need capital or dumb luck to make money. I've read these "entrepreneurs" stories. They did nothing spetial. They were just in the right place in the right time in history. Anyone could be at their place.
Ultimately if you enjoy work that's a bonus but its not the norm for anyone. The important thing in life is when you get home to know everything is alright and that you have a place where you are happy with he right people. Chasing wild gooses trying to make millions is a sure way of wasting your life away. Because ar some point you may get sick and a few month latter you'll be drinking pints with satan. Life is short. Too bad the worldwide economy is so saturated with low income and low satisfaction jobs meaning no one gets to live before they die these days. Even in places like the US (well especially there. @@micheleschmitz7219 thats so amazing đ„ł i graduate next year, and im so ready to work
Iâm pursuing BS in Nursing but yeah.. Iâm will definitely choose arts if money doesnât come first in our life.đą
I think nowadays , in hotel management, f&b staff , housekeeping, heath workers, and techniques works are really in demand especially here in EU, the reason why some fresh major graduate first landed in this jobs. ( as part time ) for the meantime ,they earned 18 to 20 euro per hour.
I feel so bad for all these young people learning to become redundant.
for real
Which university is it? The trees and environment is so beautiful.
Looks like UCF
Yeah itâs UCF
I studied nursing. If I choose what I wanted it would be photography or linguistics or culinary school. I probably would have done all three :)
this makes me so sad :â) like we do things we donât want to do but st the same time we struggle with defining whether these things are hobbies or actual career interests :/
I'd bet a hundred bucks that those first 3 girls chose health science just so that they can stick together
Or they just meant because they took the same class?
Or they met because they literally have the same major and take the same classes?
Nice vid
Itâs good to see people who have love for the arts . If I had to choose a different major it would have been graphic design . I love creating things, but in my town graphic design jobs are hard to find. If only I could go back in time and say no to social work
In an ideal world, my graphic design studies would have actually got me somewhere lol now I just work as a customer service rep / security for a data centre :(
The shameful thing here is, people are choosing earning income vs what they love to do. There is a lot of money for anyone who loves what they do because they would be the best at it. Think about it...you love it, so you will work your ass off and it won't seem like work working long and being very productive during those hours will be easy. Success is guaranteed to people that are in the work via perseverance.
It's stupid to assume you'll be "the best" at anything. Because you won't. Statistically you won't even near.
Also a lot of things like the Arts don't require a college education anyway. You're wasting time and money.
@@zachb1706 you make a valid point Zach. I wouldn't know about not being the best at it when your hearts all in. I've rocked everything I've put my heart into so why can't everyone else? Or are am I just that awesome
"You can be anything you want to be Doctor, Lawyer or Engineer, you have options". -African Parents
Right
I was like teacher. Mom says why don't you do electrical engineering. I don't even like stuff like that.
I'm Indian but same here.
Love the tool shirt rock in dude
My friend was lucky to choose the safe route for art and be a teacher. She makes 6 figures as art teacher now after graduating May 2020. Her engineering parents had doubts but her high salary made it worth it after getting out of virtual only. She just has to be an advisor to art clubs after school as extra. We donât even know engineer and tech majors making 6 figures shortly or 1-2 years after graduating.
Where is she making 6 figures as an art teacher ?
@@sj2222 Outside of DC in rich county. She had to be an advisor to at least one after school club to get 6 figures.
Please for the love of god, the degree you get in school is for YOU not your parents. You end up with the debt might as well go to something that actually does interest you
Iâm doing law in India đźđł
Which uni?
These little interviews are really well done. I graduated in the 1980s and find that students are grappling with the same issues as 40 years ago, modulo the troll/internet/social-media hellscape
I chose music and have been working steadily ever since I graduated. I love what I do (most of the time) but I wish Iâd studied something else as well as music to fall back on. The pandemic has been so hard on all of us. So many of us quit. Itâs so sad.
